A few people have commented about the humor. Most seem to enjoy it but others would prefer something less silly. I’ve been wanting to talk about the whole poll process since returning from hiatus, so I will use this as an opportunity to do that.
My poll started after the serum bowl because there were loud voices on both sides but I was most curious how the quiet majority felt about things. It’s grown exponentially each month and is now something bigger and more collaborative. It’s not exclusively mine anymore and I’m very glad for that.
The folks at snkpolls.tumblr.com kindly let us host the poll there but they are usually not directly involved.
This month’s poll was written by three adults, but the people involved vary depending on who has time and who expresses interest. We deliberately keep it lighthearted. Part of that is to avoid anyone assuming the poll created by Fandom Authorities. We want it to be clear that it’s just for fun. We want the people taking it to have fun. Even so, we do take it seriously, and invest a great deal of time and thought into the questions. We hope it exposes useful information about what our fandom is thinking.
In the days leading up to the poll, we look at tumblr and reddit to see what people are discussing and we try to incorporate those things. Both platforms have a tendency towards the irreverent. We can’t avoid that. We try to mix the humorous and serious.
For me, this month was especially challenging because the chapter left us with nothing but rampant speculation. Character loyalties and hidden identities were interesting, but that’s not enough to populate 20+ questions. I needed a lot of help.

I hope this clarifies things. I feel a sense of responsibility over this poll, but not any ownership over polling in general. It would be great if more people wrote their own polls from their own interest, focus and perspective.
