LORE AND FACTS RANT
Snootlings are very territorial and protective beings. For that reason they are most commonly used as guard dogs. If you're able to get them to see your home and your family as theirs, they will fight off any intruder daring to even look at your house for too long.
They have short fur, the front legs have sharp claws while their back legs have paws.
As a defense and attack mechanism they are able to set the hair on their head and tail on fire, protecting them from attacks and being able to attack themselves with their claws and using their tail as a whip.
As you may have noticed, there are quite a few differences between the female and the male Snootlings.
A female Snootlings is not only bigger and stronger than the male, but they're also very calm and gentle, contrary to their gloomy appearance. They are the main protector in a group of Snootlings, protecting the little ones as well as the males.
A male Snootling is a bit smaller than their female counterpart, having less of a mane and more of some fluff on their head. The tail is, instead of being a ball of floof, quite longer with some tuft at the end of it. Their ears are almost always pointed up to the sky, in a way mirroring their bubbly, always excited personality. Even if they're less confrontational than the females, they are as well able to fight of any enemy with their flames and claws.
Snootlings mostly live off of insects and fruits, they are omnivores but only eat meat if necessary or during breeding season to have enough nutrients for their babies, which are hatching from eggs.
- this is all the lore and facts I have for now, I may update this later on :)
❀ The Beginning ❀
Chapter one of a deep dive into the Snootling lore
Part 1 - Part 2 [in work]
Very rushed and rough drawings, I was getting excited and wanted to put it out here asap
𐔌՞ ܸ.ˬ.ܸ՞𐦯
I am kinda challenging myself to make the Lore a bit more tasty by leaving snippets with drawings and comics here and there instead of dropping it as one big wall of text onto you.
Reading is boring so if you want to see the whole story, give me lots of time to get this done bit by bit :D I'm trying my bestes....
But you are very welcome to ask questions ofc :3c
Some Baby Snootlings Fun Facts!
I have a lot of fun throwing the itties around my doodles tho I thought I may share some stats about them :3c
Snootlings are born mostly in batches between 2-5 eggs. After hatching their first instinct is to climb either of their parents as form of protection and safety. During their youth they spend most of their time riding on the backs of their parents until they're strong enough to slowly explore the world themselves.
But even when they get older, they sometimes huddle on top of each other as a source of comfort
It is very hard to differentiate female and male baby Snootlings if they're still very young, since they all have the male typical head fluff and naked tails. With time they will either grow the more voluminous mane and fluffy tail or will keep the head fuzz and grow addition tuff on their tails.
They are quite small compared to their adult versions but grow very quickly. Before they're reaching full adulthood, there is a kind of ritual they have to go through. Until they've been able to fulfill this tradition, their fire properties won't be able developed properly, which can be the cause a lot of risks, including involuntary combustion or causing massive wildfires.
