well.....uh....if that Helsinki press briefing wasn't proof of dereliction of duty and reason to impeach, then I just dunno. dunno. :/

Mark my words: It won’t matter.

Edited to add: The Republican Party has made a clear choice to enable and protect Trump, even though they know he is unfit in every way to be the president. Today, we’re finding out that a substantial number of Congressional Republicans are as thoroughly corrupt as Trump is. None of this surprises any of us who have been paying attention, and it’s unlikely to penetrate the epistemic closure of the Fox News base of the Republican Party.

The ONLY way that what we saw today matters, at all, is when we get everyone we possibly can to VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY UNTIL DEMOCRATS HAVE A SUPERMAJORITY IN CONGRESS.

Even if we only get the House back, there will be subpoenas and real investigations and maybe, finally,  some meaningful consequences. And maybe they won’t do it, maybe they’ll be corporate sellouts and fuck us all. But I have hope that they won’t, and I have CERTAINTY that Republicans will do nothing. There is a real chance with a Democratic congress, and we have to do everything we can to make that chance happen.

But it only happens when Democrats vote. YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE REGISTERED TO VOTE, AND YOU HAVE TO TURN UP ON ELECTION DAY no matter what, even if you have to hold your nose and vote for a shitty person like Joe Manchin, because we have a choice to make right now: let Republicans get away with all of this, or replace them with Democrats. That’s it. That’s the choice. Whatever your personal issue is this election, whatever your purity test is, you have to set it aside and do your civic duty for the greater good of our nation and the future of everyone in it.
