"A Series of Unfortunate Events is one of the best kids' book series ever made because it is a good story, mature enough to be actually useful for kids to read, and also extremely educational. This snake in particular is used to demonstrate what a "misnomer" means, as despite the name, it is not deadly (as per the canon, anyway.). Based on all depictions of it, it's also clearly not even a viper, which I like to think was intentional."
