Farm in Winter
A poem by Joe Wilkins
Even Now It Is Inside of Me
Those winter evenings when snowstorms knocked out the power we gathered at the kitchen table, where in shadow my grandfather lifted the glass chimney
& lit the oil lamp. Like the oil, I trembled. Like the wick, I cleanly burned. How dark
it was outside. How close we were in that light. How quiet.

Blizzard of '25
I always love a good snow storm, but the timing of this major weather system could not have worse timing. We are supposed to have a multi-day snow event starting within the next few hours, and I am scheduled for back surgery on Thursday.
ROUND 1 01/05/2025:
THUNDER SNOW
I'm not sure if anyone was forecasting this in today's snow storm, but Thunder Snow has entered the chat...
Oh dear Zandii,
Will we have any news about the Jotunn Mauga and Venture comics in the near future? ú-ù I love how jotunn mauga is drawing in your style !
Y'know... I was just thinking about that yesterday! 💕
The hotter it gets the more I miss snow... so maybe in that spirit I'll get back to drawing that comic to try and cool down~ ❄️
(Thank you for mentioning it 💕 - I'm glad someone still thinks about and wnats to see it ;w;I'll do my best to put time aside to bring it back!)
I Love a Snow Day (Pt 3) - Digging Out
The biggest downside to a BIG snowstorm is that you eventually have to dig your way out at some point, which means... Shoveling Snow.
Fortunately, this was not a heavy snow. Deep, but not heavy. Shoveling snow is difficult enough as is on it's own. Many people my age (and even younger) find themselves in cardiac distress from the exertion from clearing snow from their driveway and walk. I get to pile on the additional complication of a bad hip, and having been through three recent back and spinal surgeries.
But... I did it!
Hopefully the Streets Department comes through with the plow soon. It's been two whole days and no sign of them yet.
I Love a Snow Day (Pt 1)
The snow has started. It doesn't look like much at the start, but this is supposed to be one of the biggest storms that we have had in a while. We shall see...
The snow has definitely made for a relaxing start to the weekend.
I love a Snow Day (Pt 2)
I think that the original forecast was for a bit more snow than what has fallen so far, but then again the snow is still coming down and it's supposed to keep on coming for quite a few more hours.
This is one of the larger snow storms that we have had in recent years. I for one, LOVE IT. I know that a lot of people are not a fan of big snows, but I love the peace and quiet that they bring. As long as I don't have to get out in it, I don't mind it being messy for a day or two.
The Boyz always seem to like the snow as well.
