re: student loans. i took out a truly terrifying amount of loans for medical school, and while i'd love it if the government decided i didn't need to pay them back, i definitely understand why the majority of america doesn't think that should be a priority. the good news for people like me is that a lot of hospitals are qualifying employers for pslf! from what i've heard, the biggest obstacle to getting your loans forgiven through pslf is the paperwork, and it sounds like the current administration is working on that
It’s really good they’re making the PSLF easier to navigate!
I really think the biggest obstacle of student loans forgiveness is that around 35% of Americans has a 4-year degree, and less than that in swing states and many swing districts, and significantly less than that 35% has loans.
If we’re talking victims of predatory loans or people that didn’t graduate or are otherwise simply not able to pay them off because they’re social workers or doing another public service, that’s different and billions of their loans have already been forgiven. But, that @magi-Jay person on Twitter tried to claim her husband with a philosophy PhD having student loans from that degree is a sympathetic story and I’m like, go tell that to a high-school educated voter in Wisconsin or whatever and get back to me how much they laughed in your face.
Dragon...
They called him the sleeping dragon. You could never know under which opponent's castle he slept. You could built up a city of lies and deceit and scheming, unaware, all the while that you are building on his back. All he has to do is rise and roar, but you would crumble to pieces. They hated him, the nobles and courtiers alike. Yet as people often do with things they couldn't control, they feared him; the sleeping dragon of east, crown prince Yong.
Fox...
She is beautiful, but in the way of ancient calm water, you'd never know what skeletons lay beneath her sunny ripples. There are certain stains of her past that beauty cannot hide. There are certain wounds upon her soul that a smile won't heal. The queen had made certain of that, with her strings clasped tightly she'd make her dance to her tunes all her life. Unless she stepped up to cut them. Yeoubi, she was called sunlit rain. Yet in the shadows they whispered another name, fox of Ryus.
Excerpt...
The fire of the smithy never burned hotter. Metal boiled in furnace, breathing bubbles and exploding in hisses. He did not care.
Very little had intrigued him as the girl before him now, and it had little to do with her exotic face. She looked breathtaking in borrowed, soldier clothing, with plaits dragging her hair back from those sharp, eyes. They were the colour of molten bronze, dazzling and swirling- a hint of gold teasing near those wide blown pupils. She might have thought him an idiot for she stepped closer and repeated her earlier request.
"Dagger. 7 inches. Double edged. Curved. I need to strap it on my thigh."
His eyes shift and hold, those agonisingly indifferent ones. Yong tries not to think about strapping to her thigh part much. Focusing instead on other harmless words, double edged, she indeed was, curved, most definitely...
"Are you listening?" Her eyes narrow, her chin lifts, exposing the fair line of her throat in prideful disdain.
"I - uh - yes, milady."
"Forget it!" She waves her hand in frustration. "I'd try another place."
She almost turns to leave, giving him a proper minute to observe the firelight sifting through her hair.
"But you won't- will you," he calls after her. "Milady?" He adds when she whips around. "Go to another place? People who comes here, most often cannot go to other places." He had rendered her mute, Yong takes the moment to trail his gaze over her. "Who are you going to use it on - the dagger strapped to your thigh?"
She raises an eyebrow.
"You have heard of this place ma'am, but not its rules," he says. "Hell's heath its called. I am its devil. You deal with devil, you pay with your soul. My services aren't cheap. I take your most precious secret."
"Huh," she snorts. But her eyes gleam in satisfaction. "So you'd make it."
"In exchange of an answer. Yes."
"Wang Yong."
For a moment she catches his breath, twists it in his throat. How could she possibly know ...
"The crown prince of Goryeo."
She bites on her lip and venom laces her words.
"That's who."

Coming soon!
Continued in mini fics. Belongs to the same universe as Snow n' Starlight.

The Truth About Forever was the first Sarah Dessen book that I read and it's still my favorite, but I keep reading the new ones even though I'm technically out of the Young Adult demographic these days. Her books are always on my summer beach read list! I love that all of them are connected; it's like seeing a favorite actor as a guest star on another show. She was one of the first authors who inspired me to write when I was in middle school and I will always be grateful for that!
*Snow n' Starlight*
Character Post
This is a cross ship, fan fic / extended epilogue of an on going fan fic. For this one yo have it's own feet to stand on, this post will tell you all you need to know about the two characters involved and occassional trespassing characters into this universe.

Princess Seol is betrothed to son of the Grand Princess, one of her cousins from Silla Kims. But her heart lies elsewhere.
Kang Seo is the acting Lord of North, while due to his inferior birth the title in truth would never be his. A Foster son of the emperor and loyal soldier he would do anything but follow his heart as it pulls him towards a certain princess named after snow.
But now that their moments are closing into a countdown, fate clenching its fist around what remains of a fragile bond they must either seize the moment or let each other go forever.

Excerpt below...
.... The snow caressed him in a way she yearned to, fluttering against his lashes, tangled up in his hair. She has always felt at home in north, in the valleys that filled themselves with her namesake and with this man beside her, arrows slung over his shoulder and laughter in his eyes. Silla and her betrothed would never take that place.
Seol opened her mouth, it was now or never.
"Don't say it," he cuts her off, a hand stretched out for a lonely flake to perch upon. It turns translucent against his roughed palm.
"My hand isn't made for snowflakes." He sounds joyous, as he always does - when she's weeping within. His eyes remain resolutely elsewhere.
"I've been summoned to the garrison," he continues in that same flat tone. "My last duty here will be to deliver your highness to your betrothed."
She is unaware of the tear that has escaped, until an ice cold thumb brushes it off.
"Don't cry," he says then and she sees the laughing spark in his eyes for what it truly is; longing. "It breaks my heart."
