Based again on my mom's cats. Snowcastles' favourite snacks: nibbling on furminator Cassian's aloe plants ("of course," he grumbles, "the most valuable and useful indoor plants I grow, no sad leafy greens for Her Grace") and Meowmy Jyn's slice of white bread (never the crusts, and Jyn, even though white bread is an indulgence, can't resist sharing when Snowcastles starts sniffing it with such longing in her eyes).
Accck, sorry I got behind, nonnie! I shall endeavor to make up for it.
YES, these are true, all true. When Cassian planted cat grass for Snowcastles, she took one look and started nibbling on the aloe plants again. And let’s not, LET’S NOT, talk about when Cassian started collecting rare ferns. “The F are these, Cassian?!” Jyn asks when the collection starts in a far corner of the apartment. “Are these for Snowcastles?” Because Her Grace is pawing at an irresistibly dangling, bright green leaf. “No, Jyn,” Cassian says with a sigh, “they’re NOT for Snowcastles. They are for ME.” “Okay,” Jyn answers with a shrug as she puts down her keys and a bag of groceries. Snowcastles trots over, fluffy tail held high, and gives Meowmy a “mrrow!” and a hand-butt. “Aww, bb, I missed you!” Jyn coos. “I missed you, too,” Cassian says with a smile as he slides his hands into his jeans pockets. They’re Jyn’s favorite pair on him, dark, well-fitting...but she’s...not looking. She only has eyes for Snowcastles, currently licking her freaking face, ugh. “Germs, Jyn,” Cassian warns, but Jyn simply holds up one finger. One minute, Cassian. I am busy.
That night, when Cassian is serving homemade meatloaf with homemade mashed potatoes and freshly roasted green beans that he snipped the ends off of himself, Snowcastles chirps and jumps up onto “her” chair. “Aww, bb,” Jyn croons again, and Cassian slams his hand down onto the table when she freaking indulges the cat by giving her a piece of white bread from the bag on the table she’s been nosing.
“Well,” Cassian says resignedly, “at least someone appreciates my home cooking.”
Jyn just laughs, and Cassian smiles, forgiving her all over again for her obsession with her cat. It’s his cat, too, after all.
