jiseok’s cheeks ever so obviously heat up when they hear jaehyun’s words , the heat spreading to the tips of their ears as well , heart thundering in their chest and they wonder if he can hear it too. ‘ i- ‘ looking up at him , having previously been writing in their journal , keeping track of what he has been telling them and they half - wonder if they misheard him. 

it’s only when looking up at him , that they notice the distance between them , or the lack of it. he’s close enough that they start to wonder if he’s about to kiss them , when his hand comes up to cup their face , they feel like they’re holding their breath as his thumb brushing the corner of their lips. 

only remembering to breathe when his voice cuts through the silence again , something about how their lipstick had gotten smudged and next thing they knew , he was pulling back. they swallow hard , hand touching the cheek he had touched , a shy smile tugging at their lips as they finally replied. ‘ th- thank you , jaehyun. ‘

“Um, Mirae?!” Sora called out to the other, eyes focused on the mess that she had made. It wasn’t the worst, but it was enough of a mess that the younger witch worried about Mirae’s reaction. Sora still couldn’t get the hang of a few tricks that looked so easy when Mirae did them. Hearing footsteps coming towards the kitchen, Sora panicked and began to explain herself. “I’m so, so sorry. I was just trying to work on that water spell you showed me, and before I knew it there was a bunch of water spilling out of the sink and...” Sora’s words were rushed as she used a towel to dry up some of the water. She had to stop and take a deep breath to calm herself down enough to think straight. “

“I don’t think anything really bad happened. I think it just got of the floor and maybe some of the countertop.” She felt bad not only for failing at a simple spell, but for making a mess in Mirae’s home, especially when the other was nice enough to take her under her wing.

“S-sorry, I wasn’t taking video of you specifically. It... it’s part of an observational study at my school and--and I want to make sure the data isn’t distorted by my lack of a perfect memory. I hope you understand.”  Usually, Evelyn was so discreet when filming her surroundings. The fact that she was caught doing so this time irked her... but, it wasn’t the end of the world.  “If... if you’d like, I can repay you for filming without permission by buying you coffee. Would that be alright? I’ll even delete the video as well.”

makoto had been hopeful that isaiah had just wanted to be with them , nothing else attached , but to hear from yejin that chances are; he’s only with them as a way to get over someone else , someone that they didn’t even know about until now , it hurts. places an ache in their chest that they haven’t felt in a while , they hate to think that they are just a rebound for him , they had been hoping that these last few months with him , had been genuine , that there was something real between them; something that could last , but it feels like a silly dream now , they hate the way that it feels. 

‘ yejin told me about ..... polaris. ‘ their voice is unusually gentle , even with the pain that laces their tone , they swallow hard; arms crossing over their chest , almost as if to close themselves from him , even if that’s not their real intention. they feel so vulnerable with him , not in a way that is good or bad , they aren’t even sure as to why; they feel so willing to bare their soul to him if he asked , but they aren’t sure if he would do the same in return. 

‘ was .... was i just a rebound ? ‘ they look at him , tears beginning to pool in their eyes , spilling down their cheeks before they can even think to stop it; it isn’t long before small sobs leave them. they’ve never felt so hurt over the thought of being a rebound before , but isaiah pulls out a side of them that no one else sees , something softer than the mask that they keep up. arms wrapping around themselves a bit tighter , trying to steady their breathing , hoping to ease the pain somehow.
