â â The ends of his smile twitched for a second, his shoulder lulling beneath the weight of a heavy book bag. A natural reaction now that he thought about it. For when was it ever a promise of a pleasant conversation when God was the topic? Erraticism. Thatâs what he wanted to say at first. For God is a private word, one talked about between tight lips and closed doors. Oh, but more come to mind too. Kira. Law. Fortitude. Man.
ââzeus.â Thatâs what he would have said as a child, itâs the first to come to mind on what a normal person would say but he soon realized it was anything but. A regular person would have thought something along the lines of Chirst, he was sure. His eyes rested upon that clean unblemished notepaper, darting away at a heartbeatâs skip. â Zeus as in myth. Myth as in legend.â What a perfect atheist he would make, he grinned at the thought as his arms crossed over his chest. Patiently, he waited for the next question.Â
His initial reaction wasnât, in itself, an uncommon one. Evelyn figured that--if put into the same situation--she would have a similar reaction upon hearing âgodâ involved in the questions. Any regular person would assume a conversation starting with such a term would be stressful at best.
She recorded the answer upon both the question sheet as well as the blank paper, however, she also added a few little notes about the giving of the answer onto the notebook paper.Â
âHm...â Evelyn hummed. âI would have to agree with your thought process. Are you into mythology?â For a moment, genuine curiosity peaked out of the veil of focus and determination on her face â--O-oh, sorry. I got off topic. â She glanced to the list of questions and gave the second. âAlright... the second word relation question now. Morality.â
She watched him in high hopes to pick up any signs of a false answer, or--at least--nervous behavior. Asking this same set of questions got tiring after repeating them for so long. So many times... but no one has stood out. Really, Evelyn felt a tad upset at her lack of progress.Â
Me: *wants to talk to you*
Me: *has nothing to say*
Light Yagami did a lot of awful things but I will never forgive him for breaking his dads heart. Every single version of death note has L accusing Light and poor Mr. Yagami getting sad and it is unacceptable. Burn the stupid note and hug your dad you ungrateful brat
dont let fear control you. do what makes you happy; push through it
Send me âFerris Wheelâ for our muses to go exploring in an abandoned, broken-down amusement park/carnival.
every day is a good day to remember that neither Light nor L are the villain or the hero.
Cruel.

Ah, so she was capable of noticing things such as that. A direct confrontation with Kira was a suicide mission, but it was not as though Neuro cared a great deal about the girl; she was just another way to pass the time.
He tapped his chin at her suggestion.
âWe would have to get there first, and then decide how best to deal with the⊠suspect.â There were only so many ways a human could corner the likes of Light Yagami without invoking his true character. Neuro smiled.
âIâll make sure not to slip up again, Miss Eve, it was just an assumption on my part.â The truth was that he had completely ignored the part where she gave him her nickname. He took out his phone, and began dialing in Yakoâs number. âIâll actually just call her now so she can give you the full profile. I never remembered the full details.â
It rang. And rang. Yako was busy pursuing information from L, from what he could recall. It would not do to have her distracted now. Eventually, she picked up.
ââello?â
âMiss Yako, itâs Neuro! Iâve got someone here that would like to talk to you.â He gave her no time to protest, handing the phone to Evelyn in an instant. âJust ask her whatever you want.â It was a good distraction, he thought, from his temporary slip up.
âMhmâI mean, I would already be at a risk, just going up and talking to him as a classmate⊠if he found out, and he is Kira, Iâm in a position where my name is broadcast every class period⊠though, that could stop Kira from doing anything, too. If I was Kira, Iâd probably want to avoid killing anyone I know personally,â Evelyn rambled on.Â
âHm?âoh, yeah, that would be amazing.âÂ
Once again, her face lit up with excitement. Evelyn did not expect to actually get to talk to Yako Katsuragi herself. Iâll ask⊠for a vague outline of discoveries made regarding Kira. I donât want to ask for specificsâI mean, she doesnât even know me, so i donât want to be rude, butâŠÂ She took the phone without hesitation, but the words⊠werenât leaving her lips exactly like she had rehearsed them a second before in her head.Â
âU-um, hello, this isâuh, you can call me Eve. I met your assistant in the library and he offered to help me investigate things pertaining to the Kira Case. Out of curiosity, e-er⊠can you give me a brief profile of things already deduced regarding Kiraâs identity? I also want to know, for the sake of comparing intel, what you already know about the killing method.âÂ
Why a phone call? I can talk in personâ I can textâ but why did it have to be a phone call?? I sound like an idiot!
He held back a snigger at the girlâs stammering. Who knew that all it would take was a phone call with one of her idolâs to crack whatever cool facade she had set up, a hilariously flushed mess of excitement and terror all bundled into each other.
He doubted she would feel so inclined to wind herself up if she met Yako in person.
âI knew Neuro was up to somethingâŠâ So Yako was worried about him. How⊠precious. âHello, Eve, I will make this quick as I have five minutes before I get to work. Kira is a university student living in a stable family with a stable income from a neighbourhood where the crime rate is extremely low. One of his parents, or perhaps both, are involved in criminal investigations, but they are not lawyers. Um⊠if we want to get into specifics then he is likely to be a top-grade student thatâs rather popular beyond his witsâ
It was impressive what Yako could conclude based upon the victims alone. The âuniversityâ part of course came from her recent escapade and whatever consequences were certain to follow. She would not leave the headquarters alone with such limited information, and she was far too stubborn to ask him for help.
He began to idly analyse the street in front of the prison. Everything was grey. Grey buildings, grey pavements, grey people, grey clouds. What an utterly boring world.
âI cannot give you the details of how he kills, Iâm afraid. He requires a name and a face to induce heart attacks, but is capable of killing through other means and forcing the target to behave in a particular way leading up to death. There is also another Kira that does not need a name that uses the same method.â
Bored already, Neuro pulled the phone out of Evelynâs hands.
âThank you, Miss Yako! We were really stuck in a rut over here. Let me know how things go on your side.â And do not make him come by to pick her up. That was the warning in his voice and he called his goodbye, promptly hanging up. There were more important things for him to do or, at least, more interesting. The Kira case was Yakoâs until he decided to jump in.
All attention was on Evelyn.
âSo, what do you want to do now?â
So, they did have quite a bit of information. Evelyn was surprised, sure, but not that surprised.Â
She looked up at Neuro with a confused expression as he snatched the phone back. That was rude, she thought. The longer she interacted with Neuro, the more she wished she was interacting with Yako instead. There was just something unsettling about this man. She didnât quite know what, but... she was wary, to say the least.Â
Evelyn looked down. âWell... maybe we could stop for coffee and talk over what we saw?" Actually, the teen just so happened to know that a certain honors student would be passing by the shop on his way home from the class she was skipping in the near future. She would record him on her phone and see if anything he did appeared suspicious.Â
deductivexcreativity:
âWell, umâŠâ Evelyn allowed a pause, her more outgoing expression shifting to one best described as âembarrassedâ.Â
âT-to be honest, I was hoping you could help me with tips on makeup? Iâve never been good with it, so I usually donât wear any.â The teen figured a more honest approach would be the best way to go, now that the topic had shifted to something else aside from Kira. She wasnât exactly lying about being a fanâ but she wasnât obsessed or anything by any means either. She knew of Misa and thought her look was super cute. That was all.Â
Of course, even though the makeup tips would be appreciated, her first and foremost focus was on observing Misa for anything else that could be considered suspicious.Â
She hummed contemplatively, leaning in for a moment to more closely inspect the girlâs face. Her skin wasnât bad at all, and she did have decent bone structure.
âWell, the number one thing for anyone is always a good skincare routine, of course. You should make sure you use a very gentle soap to wash your face with, plus a toner, and then a nice moisturizer â at the bare minimum. Misa-Misa never puts on make up unless she moisturizes first. You should always use a primer, too, to smooth your skin and create a nice canvas for other products.â
With a smile, she reached into the purse that hung over her shoulder and produced her own cosmetics bag. âThese are some of the products Misa uses most! I only wear things like foundation and highlighter and stuff when Iâm going to be on camera, but theyâre good things to have. For an every day look, like Iâm guessing youâre after, a little concealer and a setting powder will go a long way! Plus eyeliner and mascara, of course.â
Hazel eyes glanced up at the other girl, attempting to gauge the sincerity of her interest.
âHm...â, Evelyn hummed in acknowledgement and curiosity as Misa outlined the importance of having a good skincare routine. The longer the woman talked, the less and less interested the exchange student found herself in the topic of makeup. Skin care was an obvious point, and a boring one at that, even if it was important--and Evelyn was an impatient person in nature.Â
Her attention was brought back with the mention of the specific products. This was where her own knowledge was sorely lacking. Momentarily, her objective of observing Misa for any suspicious actions faded away into genuine curiosity. âHuh... just concealer and setting powder? I guess I always thought of makeup like... well, like an âall or nothingâ type of thing.â
Just as soon as her initial objective had faded away, a new objective formed into place. Now... may not be the time for observations of someone she hardly knew. Actually, it might be more advantageous for the teen to gain at least a shred of trust first. She would put aside investigation for now in favor of true conversation. Â
