it immediately made me think about what peter said about his name being a precious gift that juno shouldn't treat like some careless thing back in s1.

what juno is saying to peter, with "we never met" is that all that peter gave him, his name, his past, his trust, his love — all those most precious of things peter had to give — could be reduced to nothing. by telling juno he never wants to see him again, well. it's telling him to discard all those most precious of gifts peter ever had it within himself to give.

and he can't do that. he cannot do that. because he loves juno. because he put so much trust into juno, so much love, all the pieces of himself that he kept hidden — he placed them in the heart of juno steel and trusted that he would carry them with him gently.

"we never met" is the end of all that. and peter could never let it end.
