Contemplating Brian yaoi scenarios is always interesting for me because, for someone as insecure about his lack of masculinity as he was, it seems like he was always surprisingly chill with gay stuff. Maybe it was just the time, new and hip and he was curious and felt at ease in that environment.
Also now I'm imagining something during Smile where Brian becomes convinced that he and Van Dyke need to have a homosexual experience and that the energy exchange will set his head level and make the project all come together, and Van is probably initially like "I'm flattered but I'd really like to try and keep things professional between us", and then maybe Brian gets hung up on it and kinda wears him down but Van is insistent on not just being some floozy he can go and take on a ride, and somehow Smile does indeed end up coming out and the whole timeline goes crazy as a result.
i like that he was chill with it. also i would do anything to at least take a peek at that timeline, the yaoi would go crazy. not even just the yaoi actually, like their ENTIRE music discography afterwards would be changed. and someone might die sooner, someone might die later who knows
