? I didn’t say that Queens were disliked by their species. Its just part of what they do is attack and kill eachother. Specifically, Queens will hunt Kings and the worms that follow that king will try to attack the Queen enemy to protect their king. In very rare cases, a Queen might even consider a king to be OK and either leave him alone, or even defend him from other Queens. That is considered exceptionally rare tho. Usually saved for when the King worm is actually pretty weak himself. The stronger a King Worm is, the greater the chances will be that Queens will be biologically geared to murder them.
Anyway, sometimes after a Queen successfully kills a King Worm, the remaining followers (if they survive) will be willing to mate with her instead. But, its up to her obviously if she sees any of them as a worthy mate. If one or more of the worms are Knighted, she is probably going to be more inclined/tempted to take up on their offer. Thus the beautiful circle of life continues.Having ur king murdered and eaten by a queen is like.. probably the least traumatizing way to loose your King. Its kind of a half and half reaction for the worm followers. They are just as likely to be very devastated and filled with regret they couldnt stop the killing as they are likely to find it really hot and the most impressive thing they’ve ever witnessed. Sometimes they feel both these things at the same time. They probably do feel both those things at a least a little. Some worms will start their new quest to find another king (Which they usually will never successfully come across another king) while others just kinda become weird drifting loners that eventually die because they have no will to live really. Knighted worms will likely become a sort of, replacement leader for the other follower worms and give them a sense of purpose, but their relationship dynamic is very different from that of a King and his followers. Still, Knighted worms are usually given a lot of respect, no matter who you are in the hydragora worm population. The very lucky might follow the queen (if she murdered their king) and try to be her companions but its fairly likely they’ll get eaten by her because, like, Queen worms generally prefer to be BADASS LONE WOLVES!!1 But y’kno, even Queens get lonely and so if she becomes fond of a worm and trusts them enough, they might become very close and even become very dedicated mates!! As strong as a Queen is, she has times when shes very weak and vulnerable and so having some companion there to take care of her would be a very positive thing to ensure her best chances at survival. I think the Queen would feel a paranoia that she can’t trust any worm because showing her vulnerable side is a dangerous thing to do, but even if a worm has lost their king.. they are not very revengeful creatures as you might suppose they would be. Worms are dedicated, loyal partners but Kings are sort of.. meant to have a high fatality rate. Its easier for a worm to be able to move on from the grieving stage if they had a bond with a king, especially if they have something else to replace it with. and usually, King worms will not accept mates so easily and even when they do theres always kind of like. a barrier between them and their followers as being not-equals. If a Queen and a regular worm fall into the romance they are going to have a much more intense and mutual bond with eachother.. one that would never be broken!! or very, very difficult to ever be wavered from anyway. Queens are even more likely to be romantically and even sexually monogamous in the right circumstances, aka trusting another worm enough for them to take care of her when she is weak... and then the potential mate going thru that stage with her and not betraying her.. if they do a good job taking care of her while she is weak she’s probably going to be be maximum love doki for that worm. and, Because its so uncommon for all those things to work out, its very hard to ever repeat the process again if she already has that lovely worm mate who she can trust so completely to protect her!! And even if they run into another king worm, that worm mate of hers can even resist the magnetic pull of the king worm to stand by her side.. That’s only going to make their love feel all the more powerful!!! Anyway.. Queens are only disliked as like, a natural predator? But they are also just part of how their species functions. Hydragora Queens are threatening, intimidating and sexy. Queens are just basically DEATH. Which is a sexy to worms, generally. Worms are fucked up.
