The service that provides security for the Saskatchewan Legislative Building has changed the rules for guests inside the public gallery following a protest that shut down the debate on Monday afternoon. Dozens of people calling for a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas filled the gallery benches to watch question period on Monday. A few minutes in, the crowd began chanting "ceasefire now." They were asked to stop by Speaker Randy Weekes, but continued. MLAs left the house floor while the galleries were cleared by security.

Many Canadian-born Japanese have been recently ordered to work In various parts of the country. Some one hundred and twenty of them refused to go because they were not permitted to take their families with them, which is quite understandable.

For over two weeks now they have been shut up in the immigration building. Need of diversion and anger at their treatment caused a riot. Now the minister of labor announces that all involved will be interned. 

This treatment of people who were born here and according to our much-talked about democracy ought to enjoy the same rights and privileges as the whites tastes definitely of totalitarian racial persecution. 

We cry in indignation at the German treatment of Poles and Jews and we are almost as bad here. If we enjoy persecuting "inferior races'" why do we not join up with the Fascists? They will give us all the fun we want, and it will be legal too, no democratic principles to handicap us.
