𐔌 . . . 𝐀𝐋𝐇𝐀𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐌꒱
One second he’s reading under a tree, the next, the sky explodes and something winged crashes straight into his lap.
You, wide-eyed and covered in feathers, “Mortal! Thou shalt not gaze upon my—oh hey, you’re cute.”
Instantly, you switch moods. “Oh, thank the Creator, you broke my fall!” you chirp, wings flapping erratically and causing an Eye of the Storm to fall off a cliff. “...Oops..”
He stares at you for a long, silent second, “You’re thanking me for your lack of flight control?”
“You caught me,” you argue, proudly, “that’s destiny.”
“That is gravity,” he corrects.
Somehow, within the next hour, you’ve installed yourself in his study, sitting cross-legged on his table, sipping his tea, asking questions about “mortal philosophy” while petting his hair and getting your feathers everywhere.
He insists you’re a “cosmic disturbance.” Yet, when you fall asleep against his shoulder mid-sentence, he quietly turns a page without moving you.
You call him “wise mortal.” He calls you “airborne liability.” It’s… a start.
𐔌 . . . 𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐓𝐎꒱
The heavens open above the Kamisato Estate during a perfectly normal tea break. He barely lifts an eyebrow when you descend, glowing and terrifyingly serene.
Guards panic, servants kneel, and Thoma drops a tray. Ayato, on the other hand, just sips his boba tea. “Well. That’s new. It seems we’ve received… heavenly company.”
You step forward, eyes like judgment itself, voice like thunder, “I come seeking the one called Ayato.”
He smiles politely, “Ah, my reputation precedes me. Shall we discuss this matter over tea?”
You end up lecturing him about cosmic law while he tests if angels blush when complimented (Yes, and then his teacup explodes).
For someone supposedly divine, you blush very easily when he bows to kiss your hand.
Later, when you scold him for manipulating nobles, he says, “If Heaven dislikes cunning, perhaps it shouldn’t make mortals so imperfectly interesting.”
You have no rebuttal.
𐔌 . . . 𝐃𝐎𝐓𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐄꒱
He found you when you suddenly appeared in his laboratory, mixing around random chemicals. The first thing you do when you see him is sneeze, and three of his clones combust because of your germs mingling with the unfortunate chemical solution.
He’s delighted. Not concerned, not shocked—delighted.
“An angel, you say? Fascinating. Tell me, are your wings detachable?”
You tilt your head, halo wobbling, giggling like a wind chime, “Detachable? No, dummy! They tickle if you touch them!”
He short-circuits for half a second. Then grabs a clipboard, “For science, of course.”
You hum happily while accidentally melting one of his lab tables with divine light. You’re the perfect specimen. (He might also be a little fond. Oops.)
He stares, fascinated as you nearly blow up his lab again, “Interesting. Divine sneeze reflex causes spontaneous combustion…can you do it again?”
“Maybe if you tickle me!”
That’s how the Eleventh Segment ends up half-immolated while the Third Segment is taking frantic notes.
You float lazily above his desk, babbling about celestial nonsense and calling him “Doctor Funny Mask.”
He swears you’re the greatest discovery of his career.
Unfortunately for you, this seemingly sweet doctor (to you, no one else thinks that) is never going to let you go. So, when you tell him your signals to Heaven are working again, he destroys your little messaging device and keeps you locked up in his lab. With love, of course.
𐔌 . . . 𝐃𝐈𝐋𝐔𝐂꒱
You fall straight through the Dawn Winery roof right as he’s cleaning up Kaeya’s latest prank. Adelinde almost faints.
Diluc catches you midair, with the reflexes of someone who’s done this way too often with wine crates. He sighs.
You blink up at him, dazed, “...Are you the keeper of this realm, or are you my destined savior?”
“I’m your unfortunate landing pad.”
“Ah.. so you’re the love of my life.”
“Absolutely not. I have enough fangirls.”
You cling to him like he’s a life raft, “You smell like grapes.”
“That would be the wine cellar you nearly destroyed.”
You call him “Sir Flamin’ Hot Sexy,” and he blushes for the first time since 1623.
Later, as you sit wrapped in his coat, wings drooping, you whisper, “You look sad, for someone who saved me.”
He hesitates long enough for you to reach up and brush his cheek. He catches your hand, softly, “Rest. The rest of your questions can wait until I patch the ceiling.”
When you try to thank him with “holy light,” you nearly set the vineyard on fire. He hasn’t decided whether to kick you out or hide you so you never meet Kaeya… or worse, Klee.
𐔌 . . . 𝐊𝐀𝐙𝐔𝐇𝐀꒱
He feels the presence of something before you fall.
But when the “something” turns out to be you, glowing and weightless, he can’t help but smile.
“You’re not frightened?” you ask, hovering inches above the ground.
“Should I be? You seem gentle enough.”
You look at the leaves swirling around his blade, fascinated, “The wind… listens to you.”
“Sometimes it listens better than people do.”
You talk all night about freedom, about stars, about how heaven feels colder than the breeze on his ship’s deck.
When dawn breaks, you gift him a feather, “A reminder that even the sky envies the wind.”
He keeps it tucked in his haori always, though he won’t ever say why. After all, you’ve become his little angel muse.
𐔌 . . . 𝐋𝐘𝐍𝐄𝐘꒱
It’s mid-performance when the ceiling explodes into a bright light. The audience gasps. Lyney, to his credit, takes a bow.
“And now, for my greatest trick—oh. You’re not supposed to be here.”
You blink from the ceiling wreckage, “…Where am I?”
He grins, “In my spotlight, apparently.”
You’re trembling, wings drooping, voice soft, “I didn’t mean to interrupt your… um, mortal entertainment...I think I took a wrong turn at the Pearly Gates…”
He offers a gloved hand, “Then let’s make this crash landing our special act.”
You spend the evening helping him “vanish” doves…only for the doves to follow you instead.
Backstage, he gives you his hat to hide your halo. You smile, “You’re kind for a trickster.”
“You’re too trusting for a deity,” he replies, but his tone is warm.
Lynette sighs, “You’re flirting with a celestial being…again.”
𐔌 . . . 𝐍𝐄𝐔𝐕𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄꒱
The courthouse erupts in light. Melusines scatter. He’s halfway through a sentence when you shatter the glass and faceplant in front of the bench like a sanctified meteor.
“Oops,” you mumble, “do I have to pay for that?”
He stares, speechless, “This is… the Palais Mermonia.”
The courtroom goes dead silent. What the hell is an HR department?
You laugh, “Oops, wrong universe!”
When he finds out your communication is broken, so you’ll be staying here a while, he ends up giving you a “court tour,” partly to keep you from flying into the ceiling lamps again.
When you apologize for “breaking the sky window,” he sighs, just once, “Perhaps… we can find you lodging. Somewhere without glass.”
𐔌 . . . 𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐎𝐔𝐂𝐇𝐄꒱
You literally drop into his personal bubble of solitude. Bad move.
“What in the Archons’ name are you?”
You, dazed, “A… creature of heaven?”
He glares, “Then go back.”
But your wings are all messed up, so he (very reluctantly) takes you back home.
He absolutely does not help you fix your wings, but he also doesn’t leave you alone. He reminds you of a cat you once became friends with.
You become a part of his daily routine and can’t help yourself from saying, “You don’t do anything fun, do you?”
“Fun is a waste of time.”
“Then you’re doing life wrong!!”
He glares at you. You sleep on the couch that night. But the next morning, when he finds you crying because your wing’s condition worsened overnight, he freezes.
“Don’t—stop crying. That’s annoying.”
He ends up awkwardly bandaging your wing in silence. You smile through tears, “You’re not mean, you just talk like... thunder. Scary, but not harmful. It's comforting when you get used to it.”
He rolls his eyes, muttering, “Then maybe you should go back to Heaven where it’s quiet.”
He doesn’t mean it. Not at all.
𐔌 . . . 𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐋𝐈𝐀꒱
You land mid-fight, radiant and confused, feathers flying everywhere. He nearly trips on a halo.
“Finally! A challenge that fell from the sky itself!”
You’re dazed, “I— wait, are you fighting for sport?”
“Of course. Wanna join?”
You heal him instantly, wings fluttering. “You mortals are insane.”
“You say that like it’s a bad thing.”
He challenges you to a spar. You refuse. He grins wider.
“C’mon, angel, show me what Heaven’s got.”
By the end of the day, he’s covered in soot, you’ve broken half a cliff, and both of you are laughing like maniacs under a star-filled canopy.
Later, he tells everyone he “fought Heaven and won.” You’re still trying to explain that you were trying to apologize.
𐔌 . . . 𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈꒱
You land on him mid-song. He doesn’t even flinch, just keeps playing.
“Ah, another fallen star~ Are you here to steal my thunder, or just my spotlight?”
You start humming harmony with him. The crowd thinks it’s divine intervention.
hii !! i wanted to request hcs on how you think wanderer would react if his partner got jealous
i often see people depicting wanderer to be the more jealous one in the relationship and im curious about your take on the inverse
Jealousy, Jealousy。⋆。˚☽
Genshin Characters x jealous reader
Includes in this order -> Wanderer, Layla, Chiori, Cyno, Columbina, Lohen
a/n: I'm lowkey gonna add more characters to this
Links: nav | masterlist
Wanderer
He will notice faster than he lets on if you start acting off. He' very perceptive of your emotions because he cares a lot about you
Not the type to tease or make fun of you at all for being jealous
He has a history of abandonment and betrayal, so he understands your feelings a lot
Does secretly find it reassuring that you're afraid of losing him too. It makes him feel weird in a good way
He will bluntly say something like "You're really worried about them?"
His question is genuine, the concept of him even considering someone else when he already chose you is insane to him
Like he doesn't judge (partly because he also gets jealous sometimes even though he trusts you immensely) but he also knows that he's loyal to you
And he knows that you do trust him. He's done nothing to make you doubt him so he'll assume that it was either an outside cause or insecurity that caused you to feel that way
He will directly tell you that you have nothing to worry about because he's not interested in anyone else
If he weren't sure about you, you wouldn't be together in the first place
After that he will opt for non-verbal reassurance
Like he will definitely prioritize you (he already does, but even more-so), look to spend more time together even if it's just coexisting, go out of his way to do sweet things for you, etc.
He's terrible at initiating physical affection but he will do it if he thinks that it would help you
Imagine him hesitatingly asking if you want a hug
Will immediately agree if you ask for cuddles instead though
Don't call him out on being sweet, he will be embarrassed
Will try to subtly gauge your mood after a while, depending on whether you feel better or not he might bring back some of his sarcasm
NOT directed at your jealousy though, will never pick on something vulnerable
Loves you a lot and will try his best to reassure you
Layla
Will probably notice that something is off, even have a feeling of what it is, but doesn't want to jump to conclusions
Her own self-doubt makes her overly aware of other's feelings, but she also struggles to interpret stuff the right way
So she asks you directly. She cares so she wants to get to the bottom of this
If you admit that you were jealous she wouldn't know what to say at first
Someone caring about her this much is very blush inducing to her
Will be a little flustered but at the same time wants to reassure you as quick as possible
She's already the type to be really sweet to her partner and she will absolutely use this as an excuse to be even sweeter
Expect lots of affectionate words, she gets embarrassed saying them but she'll do it anyways
Also uses it as an excuse to nap and cuddle together
Chiori
Very straightforward once she notices that something up
Will ask you about it and will expect you to be honest. Her patience for unnecessary drama is thin
If you do lie she will give you one more chance to be honest by asking "are you sure?" but if you lie again then she'll lowkey just leave you be until you change your mind about lying or until you're over it
She's not one to press when you clearly don't want her to, and she will not blame you for wanting to avoid an emotional conversation, so she will trust you to handle yourself if you do go that route
Wonders if she did anything to make you feel like you can't confide in her and might bring that up in the future when your feelings have passed
Let's say you did open up though
She will take it seriously and will try to find out why you felt jealous
If the issue was a misunderstanding she'll clear it up and quickly move on, avoiding the same kinds of misunderstandings in the future by either reassuring you beforehand or just by communicating stuff better
If the jealousy stems from insecurity she'll definitely reassure you. She's very observant with her partners emotional needs
Has a habit of fixing problems at their source (not just in relationships, this is a general thing for her) so she might look more aloof than she feels
But she can be surprisingly affectionate when she realizes that you're upset so she's overall still pretty sweet. You can definitely tell that she cares
Cyno
It was because he was talking SO enthusiastically with this other person, you swear you've never seen his eyes shine this much (it was about a TCG Card)
Does NOT notice it on his own, he is way too dense
Because he doesn't realize the problem, he will accidentally make it worse
"Yes and not only is this person good at TCG, they also have the super rare card that I wanted to get for a while, they said they got it in a festival in Nod Krai, something about being forced to participate..."
Won't shut up about it
When you first tell him to please stop gushing about this person he looks at you in confusion
Gushing about this person?? In his mind he was gushing about TCG
Will apologize though, he would never make you intentionally sad and he really didn't mean to
Says that not even the best TCG player in the world would win his favor over you
Also he might have looked lively during the conversation about TCG with the other person, but it doesn't come close to how lively he looks with you sometimes (esp when you crack dad jokes like him)
Columbina
She will not notice for a while
If you start throwing hints, she will know that something is wrong, but not exactly what
It will randomly click for her
Imagine her tilting her head, asking "Are you jealous?" even though by then she already knows the answer
If you deny it she will just say "You are" and accept it as a fact. Once she knows, you can't fool her
If you do admit to being jealous she will lowkey be curious about it, asking you if you thought she'd leave you
She's not offended or accusatory or anything like that, just genuinely trying to understand so that she can best help you
Kinda giving therapy with her wordings
"What made you think that?"
Will reassure you by giving more affection, she'll lean on your shoulder and tell you that you worry too much in the calmest voice
Keeps this moment in mind and if you get jealous again in the future she'll point it out, but then also comfort you again
Lohen
Oh he WILL notice
And he thinks you're hot when jealous so he WILL make it worse on purpose
Usually he's the jealous and possessive one so he has to jealousymaxx you to make up for it
Leans in when hes talking with another person, smiles creepily charmingly, low voice, all that
To normal people it looks like he's threatening the other person. You're not normal and neither is he though, he is doing this on purpose.
He WANTS you to get mad at him
Has the most anticipating eyes when you angrily drag him away from the other person by his sleeve
Will absolutely tease
"Aww is my Darling jealous~?
"Stop calling me that and stop talking to that person"
"Stop calling you Darling or jealous?"
His masochistic ahh yearns to be slapped in the face by you, he's practically begging for it with his attitude
what better way to fall asleep than to the sound of their soothing voice?

While the sun made its descent below the horizon in Liyue, your restlessness could not so easily fade. You laid in bed. Tossing to one side, then the other, your blanket tangled around your legs. You wished to sleep, but your mind was far too active to afford you some quiet. You opened your eyes, frustrated that there was no tiredness in them at all.
“You seem agitated.”
Xiao was seated at a small table not far from your bed, a calligraphy brush in his hand. For the evening, he had been hand-writing talismans for luck and health. He planned for them to go to Pervases’ Temple in Lisha in the lead up to this year’s Lantern Rite. However, at your futile attempt to fall asleep, he could not help but comment.
You groaned, burying your face in your pillow. With a muffled voice you whined, “I can’t fall asleep.”
“My lantern light may be keeping you awake. I will blow it out,” Xiao said.
“No, no, it’s alright.” You sat up, resting against the headboard. “The light doesn’t bother me.”
Xiao put his brush down on the porcelain dish of ink. His light footsteps reached your side. The mattress dipped slightly as he sat by your feet. Even in the low light, you made out his soft, concerned gaze.
“Then, can I do anything else to ease you?”
You smiled. “I do have a request.”
Reaching out to the bedside table, you picked up a book–Moonlit Bamboo Forest.
“Could you read to me?”
“Read to you? Aloud?”
Xiao’s brow furrowed. Not in protest at your request, but in confusion that he would be suitable orator.
“You have a lovely voice, Xiao,” you said fondly. “I still remember the time you read some poems to me. I should like to hear that again.”
Xiao coloured instantly. He cleared his throat. He didn’t know whether to be more embarrassed at the compliment of his voice (a quality that he did not believe anyone noticed let alone found pleasant), or that you remembered he had written poetry before.
“I-if this is what you wish then…”
He took the chair from the table and placed it right at the head of your bed. He sat, taking the book from you.
“Lay down,” he gently instructed.
You pulled the blanket up, turning your body towards him. You could not see his face from your angle, only his gloved hands that flipped the pages of the book.
“Between the rustling emerald curtain of foliage, in a spot where the croak of frogs and shrills of cicadas meet, lies a corner of the forest that is withered and dry, just near the wetlands beneath the mountain crags.”
As he began, Xiao’s intonation was rather stilted. He had never read aloud like this. Archons, he didn’t even remember when the last time was that he opened a book like this. However, as he glanced down at you, your face relaxing and attention wholly focused on him, he too relaxed.
“The bamboo forest of Mt. Qingce is the verdant home to many fables. After a spell of rain, a cadence of drips and drops can be heard bouncing from the bamboo leaves and hollow bamboo stalks.”
Xiao’s confidence improved as he continued. His smooth, measured diction paired with his gravelled voice was the exact remedy you needed. The restlessness that tormented you shortly before quickly disappeared. Your eyelids fluttered closed. You swore the book did interest you, and that you and Xiao should continue it another time, but for now, your mind drifted off to landscapes of quiet bamboo forests in silvery moonlight.
Xiao kept looking from the page to you. When he observed the evenness of your breaths, he trailed off on his final sentence. With a light touch, he tucked stray piece of hair behind your ear.
“Sleep well,” he whispered.
Careful to not rouse you, he walked over to the still burning lantern and blew the flame out.

Researchers don’t need sleep was a general principle among all members of the Akademiya who spent many long hours poring over papers and deliberating over data. It was therefore unsurprising to find Wanderer still awake in the dead of night, thoughtfully reading a piece of parchment, with various others strewn on the table in front of him. You trudged over to the concentrated Driyosh. Wanderer looked up. He saw the blanket wrapped around your shoulders like some sort of cocoon.
“Didn’t you say were going to sleep an hour ago?” he asked, lips curled in amusement at the grumbly expression on your face.
“I would have had an easier time sleeping if someone cared to join me as well.”
“Am I just some kind of teddy bear to you?” Wanderer scoffed.
You responded by plopping beside him on the lounge, covering his body in the blanket as well. You inched closer, your body flush against his.
“Maybe.”
Wanderer had to admit that the warmth radiating from you did feel nice. He could have easily closed his eyes and spent the night listen to your steady breaths. However, the whole ordeal from his excursion to Nod Krai left him with a mountain of information to sift through and organise.
“I said I’d join you after I was done reading through this.”
You rested your head on his shoulder. Wanderer relaxed his posture, letting you adjust.
“In that case, it’ll be three days until I see you get some proper rest. Must be hard being the best scholar in Vahumana.”
Wanderer rolled his eyes. “You don’t need to exaggerate.”
He observed how you snuggled beside him. Half-lidded eyes gazed over the table of papers, trying to figure out what he was working on.
In a low voice he said, “Just tell me if you need help getting to sleep.”
You grumbled at being found out. He chuckled.
“What are you working on, then?” you asked.
“Sorting through my observations from Nod Krai. There were large energy fields that appeared that engulfed large parts of the nation. After studying them, a colleague of mind found then to be made from pure Light Realm energy.”
“Like the realm of the primordial beings?”
Wanderer hummed in approval. “Yes. The creation of those primordial energy fields was a result of harnessing the powers of the Three Moons. One of those, however, was man-made. The ability to create artificial authority that is not rejected by the laws of this world and rivals even its original primordial power. It’s maddening to think about.”
He went on. Discussing his observations and thoughts about the function of the Three Moons and the recreation of divinity. Wanderer slowed when he saw your eyes close. He quietened his voice to a near whisper. He was too busy watching you that he lost his train of thought and began talking about the sights and people he met in Nod Krai. Saying anything just so you could be lulled. Against his shoulder, he felt the gentle rise and fall of your chest.
Wanderer wrapped the blanket tighter around you. He too closed his eyes. His papers weren’t going anywhere. They could wait until morning.

It was rare that Illuga had a prolonged stay at Piramida, so on the first day of his break, the Lightkeeper was practically glued to your side. However, it would not be long until he had to be taken away at by invitation from his squad members to go for a round of drinks and a warm meal. You heartily encouraged it, despite his pouting at needing to be away from you. The late afternoon turned into night, and the moon’s appearance over the city was as brilliant as ever.
The bed in Illuga’s home was quite cosy. It had been some time since its use, so he had spent the morning cleaning and replacing the sheets and covers. The feeling of freshly washed linens and faint smell of soap should have been the most lulling experience. Yet you were feeling strangely fidgety. Unable to doze off, you heard a door opening and shutting ever so slowly. Even more so were the footsteps that followed. So light and cautious as if causing even a single creak of the floor would be an utter offence.
“You’re back,” you greeted, sitting up.
Illuga looked like a Rimehorn deer caught in the headlights. “I’m sorry, did I wake you? I tried to be quiet.”
You laughed softly. “I could tell. It’s alright, I wasn’t asleep anyway.”
Illuga hung his coat on a hook and slipped into bed with you. He had changed out of his uniform already into some basic sleep wear. Instinctively, he wrapped his arms around you, letting you curl into his embrace and feel the soft material of his clothes. He traced a hand along your back. You reached up to his silvery hair, brushing some strands so you could see his eyes.
“Can’t sleep?” he whispered.
You nodded. “I can’t remember the last time we could be like this without one of us needing to get up early or stay out late. I think that’s why I can’t go to sleep. I feel like I need to be doing something.”
“Sleeping feels like a luxury to us Lightkeepers,” he sighed deeply. “I understand you completely.”
“How was meeting with your squad?”
Illuga smiled. “It was great. I can’t even count how many rounds of Tabletop Troupe we played. I’m certain the staff at the mead hall were grateful when we finally left from how competitive we were getting.”
You shook your head. “They were probably glad to see Ratnik so lively in spirits.”
“Oh, lively is definitely the word for it. Anleifr was this close to flipping the table when he lost four times in a row.”
Illuga continued. He repeated what they talked about and the silly bets they made. One of which was initially to eat a mandragora, which everyone but lluga had a strong repulsion for, so they settled on taking a bite of a glimmerfruit.
His talking stopped when Illuga felt your head rest against his chest. Surprised, he brought his hand to your face and caressed his thumb against your cheek. You continued to snooze against him. He quietly chuckled. All his chattering had been the solution for your sleeplessness.
“Good night,” he breathed.
He kissed you on the forehead gently. With you so soundly asleep in his arms, how could he not rest easily as well?

[ EVENT MASTERLIST ]
It's your 20th birthday. Instead of greeting the guests and entertaining them, you’re just sitting on the special couch that was made for you for this day.
You’re not bored, but you're not excited either. You just want to go back to your room and lay on your bed while reading your favorite novel. There's only one chapter left before volume 3 ends, and the next one is getting released tonight.
Yes, tonight. On the same day and night of your birthday.
There were a bunch of gifts from your family, friends, relatives, classmates— and others who came to your party. But sadly, you already know what half of them were.
You’re not complaining— well, maybe you are… but heck! don't they have anything to give aside from the things they thought you would be happy to have!? Not make-up, not heels, not dresses, or anything that makes you super girly, no.
For example— your favorite novel!
The Thorns of the Crown.
Please give it a chance, the story is not as bad as the title.
So basically, the story is about a lonely prince. A prince born from spite, a throne built on enemies and a story that ends in blood. The third one is kind of… dark, isn't it?
Of course it is. Because the back cover literally said, "He was given a crown he never asked for, enemies he never chose, and a fate already written in blood. Some stories don't have good endings. This is one of them.”
The summary is so sad it made you buy the book and use your leftover money for transportation. You remember that time you had to walk on the way home because of it. But hey! You didn't regret it. Look, it even became your favorite novel!
You even lost your deadlines, essays, and reports while binge reading the book because the story is intriguing you.
Scaramouche, the lonely crown prince who was both loved and hated by his own people. Following the death of Her Majesty the Queen— his mother, he had to take over the crown at the age of fifteen and rule the kingdom.
He had to learn everything at square one. He had to learn that not everyone praising him, and obeying his orders are to be trusted and on his side.
He learned that one time when one of his trusted servants attempted to poison him. Note: trusted servant.
The servant who took care of him ever since he was a newborn baby. The servant who first witnessed his first walk and heard his first words. The servant who he treated as a father figure. The servant who became both his guardian and teacher after the Queen’s passing.
He was so hurt and betrayed when that happened to the point that he closed his heart and stopped giving his trust.
You felt that deeply. Not the betrayed part, no. The story is so good you had to close the book and stare at the wall for ten minutes because heck, that's some tragic backstory.
But wait, there's more. More tragic? Yes.
Scaramouche, the lonely prince, is going to die. Not where he will grow old, or because of illness.
You thought that the poisoning was the last assassination attempt, but it turns out that there would be more than that.
Ugh… just thinking about them is making you feel nauseous!
Despite the tragic story, you keep reading it— hoping to see the part where Scaramouche will finally get his happy ending. But sadly, that part isn’t, and will never come.
See, this is the kind of book that deserves to be in the spotlight. Not the ones where the protagonist always needs saving and help like they cannot walk on their own two feet and do anything by themselves. No shade, by the way.
Anyway, back to the boring party…
Seeing that everyone’s done greeting you and that your parents are now busy entertaining the visitors, you took that chance to slip away and return to your room. After closing the door and locking it, you didn’t waste any time as you removed your heels and flopped down on your bed.
Yes, this kind of peace is just what I wanted.
You sit up and start removing the jewelry you’re wearing. You're never comfortable wearing them, along with the heels.
You were just about to put them back on the drawer, but you stopped when you noticed something on the top.
You blink once. Twice.
Oh my god.
Screaming, you grab the book and throw yourself back on the bed. There was a small note at the bottom:
Happy Birthday.
That’s it. No sender, no name— not even yours. Just those two words. It's like the heavens had heard your wishes and decided to give you the thing that you wanted the most on your birthday.
You hold up the novel and examine the cover. Just like the other volumes, the cover featured Scaramouche, sitting on his throne that's covered in thorns. That looks awfully painful. The only thing that's different from the first two was that his crown is now covered in blood and is dripping down his face.
The poor prince…
Changing to your pajamas, you flop back down on the bed and hug the novel as if comforting the protagonist that everything will be okay. You read the back cover again— but it was blank.
“Why is it blank?” you whisper to yourself and examine the book. The back cover is a total blank, without any designs, words, not even the bar code and ISBN.
Weird..
Yawning, you felt the exhaustion coming back to your body as you hugged the book to your chest and closed your eyes.
The book started glowing, but it was ignored as you started drifting to the dreamland.
—
Feeling the shivering cold in your body, you slowly open your eyes. The first thing that you noticed was the golden chandelier hanging in the ceiling. The second thing was the smell of a candle and incense wafting to your nose. And the third thing is a voice, a sharp and cold one that could rival the temperature of the floor you’re currently lying in.
“I’m giving you three seconds to tell me who you are and how you end up in my room.”
You sat up so fast you felt your vision blurring. You blinked through it and found the owner of the voice standing on your left, arms folded and looking down at you with a deadly glare.
But wait— he looks awfully familiar.
Dark indigo hair with a weird haircut, sharp eyes, and that red eyeliner…
You know that face.
You stared at the cover and even searched him up on the internet because holy— man got good-damn looks.
"Scaramouche!?" you said out loud before you could stop yourself.
His eyes narrowed. "Two seconds.”
He didn't even ask you how you know his name. He's just standing there, almost towering over you as he counts down and waits for your answer.
You slowly sit up and look around. “...How… where am I? I was just in my room right now.”
Funny you have the same questions as him running in your mind now.
Why are you here? With Scaramouche standing two feet away from you, you’re sure now that you're in his room. So now the real question is—
How did you end up inside the novel?!
“One—”
“I promise I'm not gonna hurt you!” you suddenly blurts out as you scramble to your feet in panic. Silence followed and you bit your lip in embarrassment.
Way to go, y/n.
“Hurt me?” his gaze turns sharper and he slowly walks towards you. You took a step back, but every time you do, the man in front of you keeps stepping closer.
Your back met the cold wall and you were looking everywhere but him. If looks could kill, you’d be lying dead by now.
“U-um…”
His aura is intimidating you so much you want to dig the ground and bury yourself six feet under.
You can feel his gaze lingering on you and you bite your lip to ease your nervousness. You can literally hear your own heartbeat.
Remind me why is he my favorite character again?
“Turn around.”
“Huh?”
Finally, you got the courage to look at him. WHAT'S HE GONNA DO?!
“I said turn around.”
“Uh… w–why?”
“I have to make sure you’re not hiding something inside that…” he eyes you up and down. “..sleepwear of yours.”
Your gaze immediately went down to your clothes. You're still wearing your pajamas, what's wrong with it?
“Um… what's wrong with my clothes?”
“Turn around.”
“I’m not hiding anythi—”
“Don't make me repeat myself, woman.”
Woma—?!
Feeling like crashing out, you took a deep breath to calm yourself.
Think carefully, y/n. This guy had every right to be cautious because he's surrounded by people wanting to take his life and throne. Calm down. Understand him. Be considerate. Take a deep breath. Inhale…… exhale.
“Look, Sir—” you stopped. Wait, what should I call him..? “Do I look like someone who’d take your life, Your Highness?”
You pointed to your pajamas. “Do assassins wear pajamas when trying to assassinate someone?”
You point at your face. “Do assassins not bother covering their faces when trying to assassinate someone?”
“No,” he narrowed his eyes once again. “But you might be the first so I’m telling you for the last time, turn around. That's an order.”
Those last three words made it clear that you’re not winning this. So with a resigned sigh, you reluctantly turn around to face the wall.
You wait for him to do something, but minutes have passed, Scaramouche hasn't moved to do a body check on you.
So taking this as a chance to prove your innocence, you start talking again in a low and soft voice.
"I'm not here to hurt you," you said. "I don't even know how I got here. All I remember was, I was asleep in my room, hugging my favorite book. Now I woke up on your floor without any clue how it happened.”
Suddenly, you remembered some scenes from the book. The crown prince was famous for throwing "suspicious people" into the dungeons for trial— and execution.
And you? Who had just appeared in his private room out of thin air wearing pajamas?
Yup, you’re definitely doomed.
“Who sent you?” he asked.
“I... I don't know.”
“How did you get here?”
“I don’t know.”
“What is your name?”
“I don't know—huh?”
You turned around to face him. He was still staring, arms crossed, waiting for an answer. His deep purple eyes seemed to glow, and you nervously bit your lip.
“I didn't give you permission to look at me.”
Your patience is running thin. Between the stress and the exhaustion of standing all day at your birthday party, you were done. You closed your eyes, took a long breath, and gave him a tired look.
“Please pardon my behavior, Sir. But I promise I'm not a threat. Like I've said, I have no idea how I ended up here. I was sleeping in my own bed because I was exhausted— it was my birthday yesterday, you know.”
You weren't sure why you added that last part, but at this point, you’d say anything to make him believe you. The Crown Prince didn’t respond, he just kept watching you, waiting for you to keep talking.
And because you're desperate to prove your innocence, you continue.
“You can... I don't know, tie me up in the corner over there, if you want? If I don't do anything all night and you wake up safe tomorrow, that proves I'm not an enemy.”
Silence. Then—
“You speak as if you know me and my situation quite well, woman.”
Oh, Your Highness, guess what?
You nervously scratched the back of your head and looked away.
“Actually...” you hesitated. Was it even safe to tell him you weren't from this world? “It's a long story. But I can assure you, all your secrets are safe with me!”
“My secrets?”
“Ah—”
You could only offer a weak smile and a peace sign. For some reason, the tension in your body started to fade. The room didn’t feel as cold, and Scaramouche didn't seem quite as scary anymore. Were you really getting used to this place already?
“Ajax,” the prince called out.
The door swung open and a knight stepped inside. The moment you saw his ginger hair and the mask resting on his head, your hand flew to your mouth. You actually gasped out loud.
Oh my god!
“Childe!?”
The words were out before you could stop them. You immediately regretted it as two pairs of eyes locked onto you.
Holy shit.
—
“Um… I know I said that you can tie me up, but that was just me trying to lighten up the mood! Come on, is this really necessary? I'm not an enemy! I can't even kill a mosquito!” you wriggle on the chair and look at the person behind you. “Mr. Childe, Sir, I don't mean to say your name out loud– ouch, don't make it too tight!— but please believe me, it was only a slip of tongue.”
“‘Slip of tongue’, so you really do know his name?” Scaramouche asked, his arms crossed while he stared at you down.
“Don't you think we should hear her out first? I don't really mind her calling and knowing my name, you know. Plus, she's pretty.” Childe, who just finished tying you up on a chair, said. He stands up and gives you a pitiful smile.
You feel your face flushing at the sudden compliment, but you have bigger problems right now so you look back at Scaramouche and nod your head aggressively as if agreeing to his knight’s suggestion of hearing you out first.
But sadly, this prince is also stubborn as hell. Sometimes, once he's made up his mind, everything else is just nothing to him.
“You should never let down your guard around her, Ajax. You know damn well that the people wanting to take my life are getting creative. Look at her hideous clothes.”
Back to my pajamas again?
“They're not hideous! They're cozy—”
“The patterns are adorable.” Childe deadpan.
“See, he gets me!” you're screaming now because you never thought that Scaramouche would actually take your words seriously!
“This or dungeon. Choose.”
That shuts you up instantly.
Taking a deep breath, you lower your gaze and bite your lower lip. So much for getting my favorite novel on my birthday…
When silence erupted in the cold room, your eyes started to feel heavy. All that exhaustion from standing all day is coming back to you again. It looks like the Crown Prince isn't going to give you a chance to speak, but at least he’s keeping you alive.
But this is still too much!
Think, y/n! Say something to get out of these ropes!
You look up at them again. “I have something very important to tell you, Your Highness.”
“Keep an eye on her, Ajax. Make sure she doesn't do anything.” the crown prince ignored you. He turns on his heel and heads to his desk. His aura literally said that he’s not in the mood to talk to you.
You're running out of options to prove your innocence, so you muster all your courage and sit up properly, looking at him.
“Someone is attempting to poison you tomorrow,” you said. “If I'm wrong, you can throw me into the dungeon and do whatever you want. But if I'm right—”
"Poison?" he stops in his tracks, cutting you off. “Sorry to disappoint you but that kind of information is nothing new to me.”
Well, that's... sad?
“But I'm telling the truth! Your maid, the new one with a mole under her left eye? That’s her. She’s actually a spy sent by Duke Pantalone.”
“Oh, you even know about Duke Pantalone?” Childe raised his eyebrow.
“I actually know everyone here…”
Scaramouche slowly turns back around, his eyes narrowing. The room feels ten degrees colder.
"You know everyone?" he repeats, his voice low and dangerous. “The more you talk, the more you earn yourself a ticket to the dungeon.”
Childe leans against the wall, looking genuinely impressed. “Just curious, where are you from, princess?”
“It’s y/n.”
He blinks. “Never heard of it.”
“No, I mean, my name. It’s y/n. As for where I’m from…” you purse your lips. “It's actually far from here. But I still don't know how I ended up in Your Highness’ room.”
“Why are you telling us this?”
“Telling you what?”
“About this certain maid attempting to kill me.”
“Anything to get me out of these ropes and make you trust me, I guess…?” you sighed. “I'm just a commoner. I'm not a threat. I'm not an enemy.”
It feels like you’ve been telling him this for the nth time now. They're so tough to crack, is this what interrogation in a police station is like?
Scaramouche didn't give you an answer. Childe removed the ropes around you and you left the prince’s room to take you to your ‘new room’. That's what you want right now, to be honest.
To have a good sleep and rest. Your mind is too tired to think about what's happened, happening, and will happen. Thankfully, Childe didn't ask you anything as he led you to your room. He only bid you goodnight and closed the door, leaving you alone.
You didn't bother looking around as you dive right into the fluffy queen-sized bed and close your eyes.
I hope I'll wake up in my room tomorrow…
—
Two weeks after you transmigrated in your favorite novel, you realized that keeping the Crown Prince’s safety is not an easy task because keeping him away from his enemies means exposing yourself in danger, too.
You already give up hoping to wake up back in your room in the real world after a week. You did try finding clues on how you’ll do it, but you were left blank. So instead of moping, you decided to focus on surviving and save the crown prince from losing his head and his throne.
You already prevented three. The first one is the poisoning that you mentioned on your first day, the second one is an ambush attempt on his way from a grand ball, and the last one is another ambush attempt by an unknown baron that apparently hates the Crown Prince.
You almost wonder what kind of life Scaramouche had in his past life to have people going after his head in this life. Was he a famous mercenary? A tyrant king? A very notorious bandit?
“So this is why the hallways are quiet.” you jump when you hear Scaramouche’s voice behind you.
Speak of the devil.
You're currently in the garden, admiring the flowers and… thinking about your situation and the events that will unfold in the next few days— plans, or whatever to keep Scaramouche from death. You could say that this is one of your peaceful and free time because you’ve been working nonstop monitoring this stubborn prince.
You grinned at him and gave him a curtsy. “Good morning, Your Highness.”
“What were you thinking?”
Getting straight to the point, are we?
“Uh… the flowers?” Okay, that was a dumb answer. But how are you going to answer a question as straight as that?
“I’m thinking about the upcoming chapters where more nobles will attempt to kill you, sir.”
Yeah, right y/n. You are not going to tell him that.
Scaramouche already thinks you're some kind of "foreseer" because you know way too much. You tried telling him the truth once— that you aren't from this world and that his entire life is just a story to you— but he just looked at you like you’d completely lost your mind.
“Are you… okay?” he asked.
You ignored him for two days after that.
“What's going to happen next?” he sits on the bench beside you.
He's asking about the next unfortunate event that will happen to him.
He’s long given up asking where you came from, and why you have the “ability to predict the future”. Instead, he told you to tell him everything that you know.
His enemies, spies, traitors, and anyone who’s after his life and their ways of ending it.
And because you don't want anything to happen to your beloved favorite character, you told him you’d protect him— not by jumping in front of a bullet (let's be real), but by staying one step ahead of the plot. You're the only one who truly gets him and the only one who can keep him away from those greedy councils and backstabbing servants.
You cannot tell him everything that you know, but with this, at least he’ll be safe.
“I believe I asked you a question,” you snap back to reality when you hear his voice.
“Sorry, what was that again?”
“Duke Pantalone,” his voice is low and quiet, but enough for you to hear. “Is he really after the throne?”
You purse your lips and slowly nod your head.
“He's going to send you an invitation. It's best if you just ignore it.”
“Why?” you can feel his gaze on you but you remain staring at your feet. “If I accept it, what is going to happen?”
You remember the scene where the Duke invited the crown prince for a dinner in his mansion. It was supposed to be a normal dinner given that the Duke was a close friend of the late Queen Ei— Scaramouche’s mother.
But…
“Ugh…” just thinking about it is making you feel sick. That damn duke and his stupid schemes!
“It's not going to end well.” he said, almost whispering.
It’s not a question. But the way he said it, it sounds like he's really used to this.
“Don't worry, as long as I'm here, none of those rascals will lay their dirty hands on you!” you tried to give him your bestest and cheerful smile as you looked at him.
“With that small and fragile body of yours?” he snickered.
“Mind you, this small and fragile body of mine has already saved your life thrice, Your Highness.”
“Hmph.” Scaramouche stands up. “I'm going to accept the invitation.”
Hah?
“Um.. did you miss the part where I said just ignore it?” Seriously, what is he thinking?!
“What, you’re going to be there with me anyway.”
He didn't wait for you to say anything. You can only watch his back until he disappears in the shadows.
You close your eyes and take a deep, deep breath to calm yourself.
I want to go home.
—
Meeting the final villain is not, and will never be, on your to-do list while you're on vacation inside your favorite novel.
Well, the Crown Prince Scaramouche and Duke Pantalone are bound to meet someday because the latter used to be the former’s mother’s close friend, but this? Knowing that what's happening right now is a trap? What in the world is the Crown Prince thinking?!
“It's been three days since I sent the invitation, I thought I would never receive a response, Your Highness." the man in front of you said with a smile.
Duke Pantalone. One of Her Majesty the Queen’s trusted friends. But unfortunately, Scaramouche is not his mother, so that one doesn't count.
You can't even look at him straight because his face is pissing you off. Especially that smile— that smile that looks gentle but it’s actually full of malice when you look at it carefully.
“I was too busy so I don't have time to write you back,” Scaramouche’s hand made its way to your waist and he pulled you closer to him.
You were surprised at the sudden gesture, but you quickly composed yourself and gave the Duke your fakest smile. He briefly glanced at Scaramouche's hand on your waist before looking at you.
“Pardon me for asking, but who might this beautiful woman be?”
You tried your best to prevent yourself from rolling your eyes in disgust.
Just bear with it for an hour or two, y/n….
You moved away from Scaramouche and gave the Duke a curtsy. “Good evening, Your Grace The Dude—”
Dude?
DUDE?
You wanted to laugh at the mispronunciation but you forgot that you’re in front of a high ranking noble so you composed yourself. Imagine calling a Duke, “dude” like you’ve been friends since you were three? Oh boy you wanted to roll on the ground and laugh your ass off.
But since that’s impossible, you maintain your poker face because you might get punished or killed for the disrespect you just did. But who cares? You hate this man anyway.
You cleared your throat and gave him a bow. “...Your Grace The Duke.”
After a few greetings and embarrassment, you made your way to the dining hall. You sat beside Scaramouche while the Duke is on the farthest left of the long table.
The dinner is going well— smooth, even, because servants keep coming and putting whatever dishes the Duke had told them to serve. Mind you, there were only three of you and yet the big and long table is already full of plates.
You actually know what all of these are, and thankfully, they're not poisoned.
So the only thing that you need to watch out for the most is…..
“You. Bring the wine.” Duke Pantalone ordered the maid in-waiting. She immediately bowed her head and left in a hurry.
There it is. The famous wine.
“I didn't know you're such a drinker, Duke Pantalone.” Scaramouche said.
“It's like a routine every time I eat, Your Highness.” he answered with a laugh. The maid arrived with a bottle of wine and three wine glasses. She puts each in front of you and opens the bottle before pouring them. “Actually, this is why I invited you here. I wanted you to try this new wine I got from Fontaine. I heard this is limited so I didn't waste any chance to grab and try one myself.”
Liar. That wine is actually harvested from a poisonous fruit.
You stole a glance at the person sitting comfortably beside you. He's just watching the red liquid from the glass with an unreadable expression on his face.
You can feel Duke Pantalone's eyes watching him through the wineglass on his mouth, waiting for Scaramouche to drink it.
He’s so obvious it's so funny. Surely, the Crown Prince knew what he was planning, right??
“It doesn't look like it was made from grapes,” he said, earning a smile from you. “What's in it?”
Yes, keep asking him! And don't even try touching that glass and drink it!
However, the Duke wasn't even fazed at the sudden question.
“Oh, the usual, Your Highness,” Duke Pantalone said. “Fermented berries.”
Berries? Is that even possible?
“I see…” Scaramouche raised his hand to grab the wineglass and your mind started panicking.
No, no, no, don't just say, “I see” and take the glass! Put that down, sir! I said, put the glass down!!!
Not knowing what to do next, you quickly grab the glass from his hand and drink the wine in one go.
The two men inside the hall just watched you, both eyes wide open. Duke Pantalone was looking at you like you’d lost your mind, while Scaramouche… Well, he looks… upset.
You’ll ponder about that one later. For now, your priority is to keep Scaramouche safe and stop the evil Duke from his evil plans.
Ugh… Gross… Berries, my ass. It tastes like rotten mango!
You slammed the glass back at the table. You wipe your mouth with the back of your hand and give them a small smile. “That was… uh… a good wine.. Very flavorful..."
And then it hits you.
You put your hand on your chest and start gasping for air. It feels like your lungs are being squeezed and you closed your eyes, grabbing Scaramouche’s arm.
“You idiot, what the fuck were you doing?!” he grabs your arm and pulls you to him. His other hand made its way to your cheek and started checking you. “Don't you even dare close your eyes, y/n.”
You tried speaking but you can't even move your mouth. Your body’s starting to get numb too, but despite all of this, you still tried to speak and give him a smile.
“You’re… safe…”
And then you passed out.
—
When your eyes fluttered open, the first thing you noticed wasn't the ceiling of your old bedroom, nor the ceiling of your bedroom in the palace. The second thing is the familiar chandelier hanging, and lastly, the sweet and overwhelming scent of glaze lilies and incense filling the dark room.
You're in Scaramouche's room.
What happened…?
“Finally awake?”
You heard a sharp voice coming from beside you, so you weakly turned your head to find Scaramouche standing near the edge of the bed. He looked like an absolute wreck. His royal coat was tossed carelessly over a chair, his collar was unbuttoned, and his dark indigo hair was messy— as if he’d spent the last several hours violently running his fingers through it.
“Your Highness…?” you coughed at the dryness of your throat. “What happened? Did we… Are you okay?”
“Am I okay?” he repeated with a scoff. “You were the one barely hanging between life and death and you're really asking me if I'm okay?”
You pulled the blanket up to your nose to shield yourself from his glare. Geez… this is kind of weird but it felt nice seeing his usual grumpy side…
“What about you? Are you okay? Why the hell did you drink that goddamn wine knowing that it was poisoned?” he asked, voice still cold. You couldn't bring yourself to say something because it looks like you're in for a grand scolding so you continue looking at him, blanket still covering half of your face. “I knew exactly what was in that glass, you know? I just had to make sure that's why I confirmed what was in it. I was going to fake a seizure, draw out his hidden guards, and execute him for high treason on the spot.”
Oh.
“And what did you do? You stole the glass and drank the wine so now you were unconscious for almost a week because of your stupidity. You completely ruined my plan.” He took a deep breath to calm himself.
“...You should've at least told me about that plan…” you mumbled. I was actually losing my mind there, you know?! I thought you were really about to drink it!
“You said something?”
You shake your head. “So… uh.. I messed up the— your plan?”
“Miserably.”
“Well.. I’m sor—”
Scaramouche slammed his hand onto the mattress next to your head, making you flinch.
He leaned in, close enough you can feel his breath.
"What were you doing? What do you gain from throwing your life away for me? Is this some elaborate play to make me indebted to you? To make me trust you?” he asked.
You blinked when you heard his voice shaking, so you slowly looked down at his hand. He's gripping the sheets so tight his knuckles are turning white. Despite the harsh words and questions he’s throwing at you, you could see that his hands were also trembling.
Is he… scared?
You let out a sigh before looking up at him.
“I told you before, right? As long as I'm here, none of those rascals will lay their dirty hands on you.” You gave him a tired smile and lowered the blanket. “I don't know if I already told you this, but I made it my mission to keep you from whatever danger that's lurking around you. I wanted to keep you safe, but I guess I failed at doing it quietly.”
He scoffed, shifting his position so he’s now sitting beside you. “Yeah right you did. Idiot.”
You rolled your eyes, but you’re still smiling. You put your hand on your chest. “Anything for you, Your Highness.”
He stared at you. “But seriously, how are you feeling?”
“Weak…?” you tried raising your arms but you failed. “Limp like a vegetable, as you can see. What happened, by the way?”
“The wine was infused with wolfsbane, that's why you immediately passed out after drinking it.” he said. “It's a deadly poison, and with the amount you ingested, it's a miracle you're still alive.”
Scaramouche reaches out and removes the strands of hair from your cheek. His hand is cold, but his touch is gentle.
“From now on, you are not allowed to leave my sight. If you plan to be this stupid again, make sure it’s where I can see you so I can keep an eye on you. I can't have you jumping into death again before I could even stop you. No more protecting me, I can handle myself. Am I understood?”
“Loud and clear…” you reluctantly answered.
He smiled. This might be the first time that you've seen him smile genuinely. It looks.. nice. “Good.”
He retracted his hand and stood up.
“Wait, are you perhaps worried about me?” you grinned at him, wiggling your eyebrows.
Scaramouche drops his smile at your stupid question.
“The Duke is currently rotting in the deepest cell of the dungeons, if you're wondering.” he dodged your question that earned a chuckle from you. He grabs his coat and looks down at you again. “Don't do stupid things again, do you hear me?”
“So you're worried!”
He ignores you again. “All you have to do is focus on recovering. You're not allowed to leave this room until you're fully-recovered, and until I tell you so. Just call a maid, or Ajax if you need anything."
“But I can't—”
“That's an order.”
Just like before, he didn't give you a chance to speak and left the room. You continue staring at the huge door before grinning like a kid. You turn your gaze at the dark ceiling and start gathering your thoughts.
The assassination attempts failed. The villain is in the dungeon and currently facing trials before his execution. You almost died but at least you managed to keep the Crown Prince safe until the end.
Scaramouche wasn't poisoned. His body wasn't burned.
Yes, that was the tragic fate that awaits him. The Duke plans to poison him first to make him lose consciousness, and after that, he plans to burn his body to leave no traces of evidence, and to erase the Crown Prince’s existence entirely. That's how cruel he is— the Smiling Villain who’s been eyeing the throne ever since Her Majesty The Queen is still alive.
But now… everything has changed. His plan is ruined. And he’s now facing charges for attempting to overthrow the monarchy to ascend the throne.
The plot of the novel was officially broken. You changed the ending.
No more protecting the Crown Prince. No more saving your favorite character. Although he hinted that it's his turn to protect you from now on…
You forced yourself to sit up and look at the huge window. When a ray of sunlight hits your face, you smile.
Oh well. All is well.
Mission failed successfully... I guess?

Disastrous first kisses with the genshin characters!
Wanderer
He's holding an ice pack to your forehead, and you could only wince in pain when the cold becomes too much to handle for at least a bit.
Despite being a couple for what, a good few years? The most intimate you had gone with Wanderer was holding hands, at least up until a few minutes ago. It's not like your relationship was that stagnant, things were just hectic for a while with all the nod krai and Dottore nonsense and all that. You proposed kissing, and he agreed like it was the most ordinary thing you could've ever asked him for.
At first, it was going well. The novels you've read were, interestingly enough, a good instruction to follow. Wanderer was good at following the lead, even if he himself didn't know what he was doing. Hand on the waist, the other on the back of your head, pulling you into the kiss. It might've been those fantasy kisses that you've always read about even.
Unfortunately, escaping the kiss for breath too fast has some unnecessary consequences. That being, your head banging against his puppet-like one, and causing a lot more pain than you could've ever expected.
"Can you just give the ice pack to me?... You're acting like I can't even hold ice now."
"Weren't you the one who got injured, mind you, without any means of doing so somehow?"
Arghh this pain in the- "Does that equate to not being able to hold an ice pack? And besides it's not my fault that you're forehead's harder than a rock!"
A sigh entered your ears, and you resisted the urge to punch the man who caused the disappointed breath of air.
"Whatever, just let me take care of you since you obviously can't do that for yourself."
And, well, the bruise did hurt, but your pride was on the line here! So, despite your incoherent grumblings that just listed off your heavy disapproval, you just let him hold the freezing cold ice to your forehead, biding your time thinking about how you'd get him back someday.
Lohen
It would have been concerning about the ridiculous amount of blood pooling in the cavity of your mouth, some dripping out like drool, but to the perpetrator of your current predicament it all sounds like the best comedy of his life.
Lohen was ravenous, his desire for battle leaving a carnal impression on his very soul. You aren't sure what you expected from a man whose very name wrecks shivers through every knights' spine whether out of fear or exhaustion, but somehow him biting your tongue when you finally gained the courage to kiss him was not exactly unexpected. His bite was in all the way painful and humiliating, as said by the copious amount of bloodied tissues on your bedside table.
Lohen's mouth was still sticky with a combination of the two of yours' saliva and your blood, and yet he didn't seem the slightest bothered. You couldn't even speak, lest you wanted blood to drop onto your dress shirt, so having his shit eating grin right at your periphery was not at all fun.
And then the freak licked the blood off of his mouth.
Not even the gagging motions you insinuated and, in a panicked motion, attempted to correct to prevent the dripping of blood could convey your disgust. The insane man only laughed, and you could only distinctly wonder how on the Anemo archon's name you managed to end up falling for this man.
"Aren't you such a sweetheart? Not only are you a great kisser, but your blood has such a nice taste too!"
What was he now, a vampire?
"Now I do wonder what other parts of you tastes like..."
Okay yeah nope, you were never going to get a break with just your bleeding tongue now were you?
Coulmbina
After that whole frisky kiss all the way back in silver moon hall, you didn't exactly expect to wake up in your lover's lap of all things.
"Oh? It seems you're finally awake."
"What... Happened?" Blinking blearily, blurry and blocky shapes created from the excess water in your eyes begin to clear, and all you could see was the somewhat tense but normal, blindfolded face of your girlfriend.
"Hmm... How should I put this... We were kissing and then you seemed to get quite out of it in a few seconds in, oxygen deprivation included. I pulled away from you, and that's when I found out that your sensitivity to kuuvahki was the reason for your lightheadedness, so I just let you rest for a while."
You blinked once, twice and a few more times in absolute disbelief before practically jumping in shock. The few kuuhenki surrounding you stuttered from your abrupt movement, and Columbina too tilted her head in confusion at your dramatic reaction.
"What is this now... The moon goddess- you know, the embodiment of kuuvahki and beauty and everything nice herself, can't even kiss me because of stupid kuuvahki sensitivity?!"
"To be fair, I did get a little excited and ended up releasing a bunch of my power while we were being intimate, that's why all these kuuhenki are surrounding us."
You wanted to scream, shout and cry all at once. Oh gods this was the worst day of your life! Not only did you pass out when you were really, really eager to kiss her, but now you found out that you're somehow allergic to her?! The unfairness of it all was appalling even to you! Spending all day reading about those kissing scenes in those romance novels just for good preparation and it ended up like this?!
"Hey hey now," noticing your distress like the absolute angel your girlfriend was, "It's fine. We can always figure out other romantic ways to be affectionate with each other."
"What other way is there?... Hugging can be platonic, so can holding hands and cuddling, and the one thing that couples explicitly do and have to express themselves with, I can't do because of my stupid kuuvahki sensitivity!"
The moon goddess could only pat your head in pity, already conjuring up some new way to kiss you without much issue. Maybe the problem was with her own eagerness...
Arlecchino
You aren't sure if anything could replace the sheer mortification of your current predicament as of the moment.
Wiping away the dark lipstick on your face brought you no comfort, in fact it amplified the embarrassment on your cheeks, causing you to warm up and flush without warning. The Fatui underdog at the very edge of the room seemed just as uncomfortable as you were, however your lover seemed unbothered, unfazed even to being caught kissing of all things.
The one day, the one day you brought up the courage to kiss your girlfriend, someone just has to ruin it.
Of course, everyone knew that the Knave, fourth of the harbingers loved you dearly and with great care, considering the amount of missing recruits just for uttering a tiny bit of disdain towards you. You just didn't want how she loved you to be displayed towards the whole world, but fate had other plans it seems.
Literally.
"Next time let's do it in our bedroom instead of the office dear..."
"Oh?" A crinkle of the newspaper reached your ear, and you couldn't help crane your neck to see what she was reading. The Fatui, luckily left the room as soon as they could, but you still couldn't help but check for anyone about to bust into the room unannounced. "And what would you do if the children were go come inside instead?"
Well that was just fucking worse!
"My office is better, in any case," she sipped a bit of her tea, and you could only nod in response to her. The idea of children accidentally catching their adoptive parents in the act of normal romantic activities had the hairs of your neck stand on end.
"If you'd like I'll buy another lock for you?"
"Yes, please," if it weren't for your senses being overloaded with humiliation, you might've caught the slightest quirk in the corner of her mouth at the sound of your whining.
imagine it's late at night, and Scaramouche finds you asleep in his bed, cuddling his pillow in a way that resembles the way you hug him in your sleep.
— ˙ . ꒷ 💫 . 𖦹˙ —
Scaramouche didn't get back until well past midnight, and, as expected, found you in bed, fast asleep.
he observed the giant cocoon of blankets concealing your entire body, except for the back of your head, as he quietly walked over.
he just smiled to himself.
you just looked so cute like that, all comfortable, wrapped up in his blankets.
as he came closer to the bed, he could see the way you were hugging a pillow, his pillow, in your sleep.
you had the side of your face pressed up against the pillow, and an arm wrapped over it, cuddling it to your chest in a way that resembled the way you'd hug him in your sleep, and his heart nearly melted at the sight.
he didn't need to think twice to know you probably fell asleep pretending it was him.
he just grins to himself as he steps closer.
he knows you've had a tiring past few days, and decides against trying to replace the pillow in your arms with himself, not wanting to accidentally wake you. instead, he decides that just lying behind you will suffice.
he slips underneath the blankets, lying on his side, right behind you.
he drapes one arm over your waist, and uses his other to prop himself up on his elbow so he can lean over to press a kiss to your temple. then he lies back down, his chest pressed to your back. his movements stay slow and careful as to not disturb you.
at least he thought.
"mmnnghhh..." you mumble sleepily against the pillow.
oops. he didn't mean to wake you!
"hey princess.. its just me, just... close your eyes and go back to sleep, yeah?" and when he speaks that soft and soothingly, how can you do anything other than oblige?
your eyelids feel heavy with exhaustion, so you keep them closed, as you sleepily mumble, "hi Scara..."
he chuckles softly against your back.
"just go to sleep, mkay sunshine?"
"mmnnn... goodnight Scara, i love you.."
"i love you too," he presses in a little closer to you, and soon, you both drift off to sleep, enjoying eachothers warmth and embrace.

a/n: hi guys this idea has been in my head for a while now and yesterday night it came back to me when i was falling asleep... so i decided to write it and idk i kinda wrote this all in one sitting and just threw up words,, plus its not proofread, so i hope everything's ok and it makes sense!! 😭
also is this considered an imagine? i think so but i'm not too sure 😓😓
𐒘𝛠 ── ʚ♡ɞฺ to note. his s/o has a big chest, how do they handle allat?!
ᖘ ׅ ── to be wary of. fluffy, suggestive, characters are losers here lol.... anyways.... no gender specified BUT fem anatomy for sure
ᖘ ׅ ── m has something to say. hai guys, new layout cuz i liked the layout i had for the event :3, requested by @athenaisdelusional !!
𐒘𝛠 ── ʚ♡ɞฺ to count. 2.5k ── characters: wanderer, kinich
< part one here with itto & xiao ; part two (you're here) ; part three if requested >
ꫂ᭪݁ wanderer is unfortunately the kind to 'accidentally' just be staring off into your cleavage. yes he does get a little flustered when you call him out, but in the end doesn't really care if your chest is big or not, as long as he can rest on you, you're good.
is also the type of guy to be like 'wear whatever you want, i can fight'. is both your number one hype man and your stylist. tells you if it looks flattering or not, yes he has that much confidence in his strength.
obviously when someone actually thinks they can catcall you without a punch in the balls, they're very wrong, obviously. he's not gonna let just anybody try to outwardly admire what's his... like hello. get your own.
definitely gets teased about falling onto you because it happened one time pre-relationship. you say you found it funny and cute, he says its embarrassing.
ꫂ᭪݁ kinich is surprisingly pretty nonchalant about it. i mean, yeah duh you have a crazy chest but he doesn't make a big deal out of it, it's not like he fell for your body. but don't get him wrong, that doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate the view.
similarly to wanderer, he actually doesn't mind if you wear anything flashy. as long as people know you two are together, it's enough for him.
mualani questions how you fell for him and he just shrugs, which makes you laugh. "oh so it's one of these..." - "what?" - "he makes you laugh doesn't he.
