Name: Other; Prognosis: Guarded In a schocking twist, chemistry doesn’t always work out when you wing it. I’ve run out of the oils for the ginger soap, so while I’m waiting for my shipment to arrive, I went back to the other ones. This one is “other”, the oils that don’t appear in any other soaps. It’s 20% almond, 20% corn, 15% grapeseed, 10% jojoba, 20% sunflower and 15% olive. I should’ve known that all liquid oils wouldn’t work out, but I didn’t think before I started. Ha11, Cl0, Co79, Bu0, Cr11, Lo11, Io110, INS 71. Since the oils were all liquid, they were room temp when I combined them. The lye was about 108*. I blended it for about 20 min with not a single lick of trace to be seen, so now I’m letting it rest overnight to see if anything develops from that, and maybe I’ll try to mould it tomorrow. I honestly don't have much hope, so I think I may end up using it as an additive for my shower soaps, tho I’d probably add some soap to it, first, if it stays a creamy liquid. I guess that’s what I get for winging it and not learning anything from the previous soaps I’ve made.
Attempted soap crayons
Erm... I think that's a failed experiment, I mean I'll give it a day or two to see if it sets, but I'm not holding out hope
The texture was kinda handcream and raisins which none of the videos did at ANY point so...
I think it was either:
A) too much water (seriously what kind of measurement is "a bit")
B) wrong kind of soap (none of them really said what type to use)
C) not long enough in the microwave (after 4 minutes of 20sec intervals with no change in texture I gave up)
D) all of the above
Eh I'll get back to you on how it goes
On the plus side I know one bar will fill two whole trays... I really only wanted the one crayon
The first video of the March collection is a doozy! 30+ min and maybe a soap fail???
Soap fail or soap save?
