Being a sociology major will ruin your fucking life. Getting a job is lowkey the easy part because of your versatile the major is. The hard part is viewing every interaction and theory and system through a sociological lens. It’s fucking exhausting.

me at fifteen: 🌼💖 radical feminist 💖🌼
me now: while it contributed a great deal to current social movements, Radical Feminism is inherently problematic in its approach to inequality and could never change society to the degree that is needed
I forced myself to concentrate today ... kinda. Getting back in the swing of things at the beginning of the semester after summer break is always so difficult. I crave the structure that school brings but I detest the endless readings. Don't get me wrong I love reading but I lack the self discipline to sit down and really digest an assigned reading. Good luck to everyone else out there getting settled in new classes and routines. Happy fall semester!
talking to leftist academics: the concept and (nonexistent) definition of sex is socially constructed and often problematic; while there are benefits as well, using labels like lesbian and bisexual is a choice that can reinforce heteronormativity and gender essentialism
talking to conservatives: LOVE IS NOT A CHOICE!!!!! 👬👭❤💛💚💙💜
Science is so hard ): I hate science.
Any suggestions?
I need to start looking for a computer. I'm not really sure where to start.
"Social ideologies of bourgeois society are that the individual is onto logically prior to the social. Individuals are seen as freely moving social atoms, each with his or her own intrinsic properties creating social interactions as they collide into social space.”
-Levins & Lewontin
by far the best parts about being a soc major
spelling bourgeoisie without a second glance
using bourgeoisie in a sentence and sounding hella smart
