Mariah slammed the door to Rosemary Cafe. Or, she almost slammed it, because if she had actually slammed the door, it would have probably made her look bad, which she could totally not afford.
God, she was grumpy. This was already a hellish day. Why did everything suck? She'd had run ins with three different men in the last few days, and the second one was exactly the kind of person who had made her hate men in the first place. Insufferable, rude, violent asshole. Well, whatever. At least the other two hadn't been too bad. Now she had to suffer through work.
Although, perhaps "suffer" wasn't the right word. Work was generally not an unpleasant experience, although she wouldn't say she "enjoyed" it. It was a way to keep herself preoccupied, and it kept her mind off random things she could always manage to find to brood about.
Grumbling to herself about nothing in particular for a moment as she began to walk to the kitchen, she finally noticed Marina and -- oh jesus. God, no. Why. Blanching, she recognized the guy who'd been in the bakery.
Well, fuck. She inched away. Maybe I can get to the kitchen without him noticing. It didn't seem like the cook was in, so she might be able to get away with hiding in the kitchen...
Although, now that she thought about it - why was the cafe open if there was no one to cook? She supposed she could handle making the simpler stuff; her mom had made sure Mariah knew how to cook at least a little, but good god. Oh well. Halfway to the kitchen. So far, so good. Seemed like the ass was busy interrogating Marina, who... probably wouldn't blow her cover. ...Right?
