Eloise’s heart ached as she took in the sight of her mother, her usually composed presence now overshadowed by tears. The vulnerability of the sight brought a sharp pang of concern to Eloise’s chest. She approached slowly, her steps light as if to avoid breaking the fragile moment.
“Mama,” Eloise’s voice was soft, tinged with worry as she settled beside Violet on the sofa. “What’s troubling you?” She reached out, gently touching Violet’s arm, hoping her presence might offer some comfort. Eloise’s fingers curled around Violet’s hand, squeezing it gently. “Is it just memories?” Eloise’s voice faltered slightly, betraying her worry that there might be something more immediate troubling her mother.
" it pains me to see you upset. " - from violet
"i am not upset, mama. i am rather irritated." which, for someone like eloise, was not a far cry from being upset and was more like a stepping stone to it. but not only was her mother the last person she could speak to about colin's apparent engagement to penelope, she was also the first person who deserved to know the truth about her new daughter-in-law-to-be. aside from colin, unless penelope had already confided in him. she doubts it, but it was possible.
and if her brother did know the truth, she doesn't know if it was better or worse that he still chose to carry on with the engagement. "forgive me, mother, but should you not be concerning yourself with colin at this moment? or even francesca who is well on her way to facing a proposal from that earl as well?"

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." Kate said moving to stand by the instrument so that they could talk.
"I do, but not half as well as you, I'm barely passable." Kate said with a smile.
Edwina was the musical one, but now with Kate married to Anthony and Edwina abroad, Kate wished more than anything to get to know this new family she'd married into.
"What are you playing, is it new?" Kate asked gesturing to the sheet music.
" you know , it would take me precisely five seconds to inform mother of your lack of social grace , the joy that would bring me . " hands clasped together , watching his sibling closely with narrowed eyes. he knew they were not enjoying the social season , that much was clear , but he did not know what reason this was . he was not one for the social soiree , however , he knew he had to put on a brave face , for his mothers sake. " if you tell me why you avoid such , maybe i'll avoid telling her so quickly . . . " @socialseasons
❛⠀ is that so?⠀ ❜⠀ simon asks, a hint of wry amusement coloring his tone as he looked down at his sister-in-law.⠀⠀ ❛⠀ and you are quite determined, i take it. there is no way i can disassuade you from this, uh, plan?⠀ ❜

his hands clasp atop his desk as he looks at the young boy stood before him. since his marriage, he's found that his tolerance for certain matters has grown immensely; namely, the affairs of his siblings. kate has taught him a great many things, and the knowledge that the weight of the world is not, in fact, on his shoulders, and he does not have to bear the brunt of everything that goes wrong within the bridgerton family, is a lesson that he should have learned long ago.
‘ gregory, this is the...third tutor we've had resign now? ’ he asks the question, knowing full well what the answer is, because he'd tendered their resignations himself. ‘ i can't help but wonder if there might be a reason why you find you're not getting on with them? something that would perhaps lead to us taking a different approach. ’

his mood is wretched, and has been for days. since the revelation that siena no longer wishes to keep his company, he has been unable to pull himself from this maudlin fervour. it's been noticed by some, if not all, of his family, and they had chosen to go out of their ways to avoid him when their enquiring tones had done nothing to quell his heartache and instead only earned his ire.
all except for violet, who refused to leave him alone to mope. she had a knack of managing to worm her way in, to get him to open up. and now here he stands, with her tenderly holding him, bringing back memories of times when he'd been more open to her mothering, when he'd sought it out freely. and with that in mind, he cannot help but open up to her now, his face softening, almost crumpling from the weight of everything that he's holding above his head.
‘ i know you are aware of my...recent indiscretion, ’ which is a polite way of describing an affair that had done nothing but wreck his very being, rendering him a man of little use to anyone. ‘ and i know it could be considered a slight upon the good name of our family...but you will be glad to know that it is over now. i'll see her no longer. ’
