“Joker Halts Dance Soldiers Hunt Him,” Toronto Star. March 7, 1942. Page 11. --- More than 100 soldier-mechanics at the training centre at London, Ont., are conducting an ‘undercover’ investigation to determine who interrupted a dance. A soldier was jilted by a girl who went to the dance with a rival soldier. As they danced the telephone rang. ‘A riot has broken out at barracks, please notify all soldiers to return immediately,’ the voice said.
The soldiers returned but the ‘riot’ was a false alarm.
