I think a thing I want to explore in my story is just the general relationship between Deimos and Amber. Like yeah there's a whole overarching plot and a big bad to defeat (a couple of those but that ain't here or there) or other characters, but I'm biased to these two. I want their relationship to have a sort of vibe similar to Noi and Shin but they end up together. Like having a casual conversation about what they want to eat for lunch while clearing out a small bandit camp.
Their first bounty together was taking on a giant mutated snake, and they ended up figuring out how to bring the head in as proof. Just that sort of instant click to how the other would operate.
Course they would encounter some bumps along the way, that's normal. But there wouldn't be some major angst at first (that would come later ;> ) Ambers to type to rush in and figure things out on the fly, while Deimos is the type to observe before jumping in. Amber snores very, very loudly and Deimos has tossed many pillows at Amber for being too damn loud, even though they're both pretty heavy sleepers.
Also the cultural stuff, Dragonspawns see value in strength much in the same way Onis do, so they respect each other a lot in that aspect, never wanting to give up and keep fighting.
As well as horns. They like each other's horns.
Besides that they both feel drawn to each other, intrigued I guess is the word. Neither can explain it, but it's the sort of comfortable you get with someone that they just understand, ya know? They don't mind the others quirks and the like. (Only when they start catching feelings do they start to appreciate said quirks a bit more and get all flushed about em. Like Deimos having this faint bellow when he's really relaxed that Amber hears, or when Amber is just maintaining her weapon or doing some light exercise and she has that focused look in her eyes.)
Deimos also sees a lot of himself in Amber, as does Amber with herself in Deimos. That need for revenge against something that wronged them, they would stop at nothing to achieve it. But they're self aware enough to know that pursuing something like that alone is foolish. Partnering up for the selfish reason as to want the others help, unaware that they would die for each other as their relationship develops.
