An interconnect is an optical or electrical cable or connection that connects two or more devices. An interconnect joins electric conductors electrically and mechanically to other conductors as well as to the terminals of electrical devices. Interconnects are passive electrical components containing two terminals which store energy in their magnetic field. For example, a cable connecting a monitor or a hard drive to a computer is an interconnect, and a PC contains several interconnects.
