Summary: Soda always looks so nice in a white shirt. It’s too bad he wears them to rumbles.
“You look so nice.” you tell Soda. He stops what he’s doing for a moment, his belt hanging slack in his hands, then he smiles.
“I ain’t wearin’ anything out of the ordinary.” Soda puts his belt on, his plain white tee riding up so you can see just a sliver of his hip. You blush.
“You don’t need to.” you get up from Soda’s bed and walk to him, pressing your lips against his softly. The sudden show of emotion takes Sodapop by surprise, you can tell, but he smiles into the kiss all the same. “You’re so pretty.” you say, brushing a few stray hairs out of his eyes.
“Pretty?” Soda asks. There’s laughter in his voice. “You know, most guys prefer to be called handsome.” you wrinkle your nose, and Soda quickly kisses it.
“Your brother is handsome.” you refer to Darry. “You’re warmer, Sodapop. I like it.” you smooth that white shirt over Soda’s chest, and leave your hands there, taking a shaky breath. “You don’t have to go, you know.” you murmur.
“I know.” Soda whispers. He puts his hands over yours, running his thumbs up and down your wrists. It would be a perfect moment if there wasn’t the veil of what would happen in less than an hour.
The silence is broken by a pounding on the door. You hear Two-Bit and Steve whooping, and back away from Soda.
“Guess I’d better go.” you say. Soda smiles sadly. Not wanting to leave the moment so sullen, you keep talking. “It’s too bad you’re wearing that to the rumble. Everyone knows white shirts stain easily.”
“Yeah.” Soda looks at his feet, then back to you, a grin beginning to tug at the corners of his lips. “Well, maybe you can take it off after the rumble for me. You know... To wash it.” Soda winks, and you let out a genuine laugh. He laughs to, then opens the bedroom door for you.
Not wanting to see the others, you turn down the hallway and walk out the back door.
Soda walks the opposite way. Towards his gang.
