Personality
Sofia’s the kind of girl who gives off the vibe of a queen bee. She wears confidence like a coat, chin up and back straight. She’s fierce and flirtatious, which takes almost no time to figure out about her. Despite this, she’s not a bitch. Far from it. As someone who’s life is dedicated to the greater good and serving the public, Sofia’s a kind-hearted gal. She got a second, a generous, a better chance at her life, and she hasn’t taken that for granted. Her family is something that she appreciates and loves more than life itself. Her heart is open and loving, but it’s exclusive to her family, cautious to learn or trust people outside of them. She doesn’t need a man or woman to be in a relationship when she has her family, knowing she’d do anything for them, and they would do the exact same for her. Her siblings are what keeps her grounded, and they are who keep her from thinking first and acting later.
Past
Her biological mother was always nothing but a name to her. Maria Mendoza. The most that she knows about the woman was that she died a few days after childbirth, and that some place out there, she had a younger sister who hadn’t been old enough to take her in. But after only a few months in the adoption agency, Sofia was taken in by the Brown’s. They had a baby of their own, William, but wanted another child close to his age. So they adopted Sofia. What they didn’t tell the adoption agency was the real reason that they were choosing to adopt another baby. Sofia and William’s parents were hunters, and wanted to have children around the same age in order to train both of them better, to compete them against each other and let them be better. Despite this, Sofia nor William grew up despising each other. They were always equals from the beginning. Both won and lost some, both did well and grew as hunters and individuals. They were thick as thieves together.
A few years later, the same process was repeated when LJ and Madeline came around. All four of them grew up to be extremely close, and extremely tough. They went to a normal, public school, and all of them excelled in sports even if they only did average within the walls of a classroom. All of them had similar lives. They went to school, they went to practice, then they came home and split the leftover time between homework and training. While all of them were capable of going to college, none of them chose to. Sofia had particularly little interest in most of her education, with the exception of history, and was completely dedicated to hunting. A year ago, all the siblings and their parents went out on a hunt for vampires, and it went poorly. Their father ended up disabled and paralyzed, forcing him out of hunting. Their mother opted to retire from it as well, and all four of the kids were left more motivated to hunt than ever before. Because of this, it gave them a slightly new focus than they had ever had before: vampires.
Sofia and her siblings have all come to Mystic Falls with one goal in mind: take down Klaus Mikaelson and his impending spawn, once and for all. But her plans changed when Sofia was possessed by a demon, Estelle. In a way to hurt Sofia, the demon murdered LJ, allowing the young woman to watch as she did so. The demon was exorcised by Will and Maddie, but the damage had been already done and Sofia decided to never hunt again. In her worst moments she met Matt Donovan and fell in love with him. Their relationship only helped her decision to never hunt again and she begun to dream of a normal life. But that was all over when Matt had a chance of a lifetime to go to college. Not wanting to hold him back, Sofia broke up with him, believing Matt would have a better life without her.
Present
Following her break up and finally realizing she would never have a normal life, Sofia drowned herself back in hunting. In one of those hunts a vampire attacked her and nearly killed her. Marcel Gerard was close and saved her life by feeding her his blood. Later that night the other vampire returned, killing Sofia before she could defend herself. She had chosen to die, but Maddie and Shawn begged her to live and Sofia couldn’t say no to them. She completed the trasition with Marcel’s help and is trying to figure out how to live as something she hunted her whole life.
