Everyone loves their mummy

Dear Diary

And we now have a mummy on the team. That's another one for my undead hero bingo cart. Anyway, he's a duegar named Aydin. He's a lawyer.

I will pause to let you finish making jokes.

I did wonder why he wanted to be part of the actual team rather than our administrative department, but from what I heard, he turned out to be very useful in many regards, like gathering information, translating the body language of an ancient mummy and driving a truck while they were being raided by desert bandits.

Also, they ran into a group called the Expedition, one that Ironhide has some sort of history with. And by history I mean only organizational standards prevented him from eating them.

Sofia’s Diary Entry Twenty One

The satisfaction of hard work well done.

Dear Diary

Months of urban operations, cooperation and hard work has finally let to this momentous occasion. I can now finally declare that the Mystical Peacekeeping Society successfully has dethroned a corrupt monarch. Granted, corrupt due to a particularly wicked artefact, but still, it's an accomplishment. And with everything said and done, the monarchy has been dissolved in favor of a fully democratic government. That is sure to get people to vocalize opinions in the higher political spheres.

All in all, everyone seems happy with the resolution, even though there is broad acknowledgment that it was a hard won and expensive one. We may not have suffered greatly as an organization, but others have, and just seeing that can tear at the heart and soul. To a degree, I am shielded by it. I mostly see it through the numbers on my reports, through edited for TV news segments and on blog posts online. And even then, its scary. I'm just glad its over.

Also, during the operation the main team, consisting of Karim, Rozaline, Kalle and Uuurrr, ran across a particular chaotic artefact. It granted Kalle's church the hospital basement wing they wanted and it also turned Karim into a woman. Permanently. Yeah, there isn't much that can be done about that. After the operation, she sent papers to her home country to get her name officially changed to Samihah.

(Wow, forgot about these for a while. Sorry.)

When you send the wrong man for the job.

Dear Diary

I wonder what the boss is smoking. And I wonder if I could get some for my nerves. That or a serious clerical error of divine proportions caused this mess. We had a body of a hero, one who made many enemies, that had to be transported through a bandit filled road through the wasteland. And who got sent on the mission?

Richter and Hagan.

Now, don't get me wrong. Richter is by all standards a very competent soldier, though mostly trained in support tactics. But Hagan? The man with the stamina of a wet shoe? The man I could most likely kill with a papercut? That Hagan?

Now, if this was your classical fantasy novel, Hagan would turn the situation around and prove all us naysayers wrong. Instead, he got open spine surgery with a machinegun. He can thank the gods that he survived and that he suffered no permanent injury. Even magic has its limits. At least the mission was successful.
