My favorite moments with you in 2020 included (but were not limited to):

The two of us being home alone when Ms Swift decided to drop folklore and FREAKING OUT

Going on a two-hour hike trying to recreate the album shoot for said folklore album

Seaside trips, one of your favorite pastimes ;)

Playing Trivial Pursuit and bursting out laughing when we blurt the wrong answer 

Exercising after lunch for a full month and then spontaneously quitting without every having to discuss it

Dancing in the rain - twice, on separate days

Arguing about Christmas ornaments and if they are or are not in the right place in the tree

What I admired especially about folklore was how, after listening to it front to back, you were entirely caught up in its vibe, in that world she has created with these people and stories that are somehow interwoven. It’s so vivid a world, in fact, that you can see the scenes play out in front of you. You can nearly distinguish the smiles or hurt on the faces of the characters she describes. 

I love how there’s this sense of melancholy and nostalgia woven throughout these songs, even though some were born in her imagination and weren’t things she actually lived through. Imagination can be powerful like that. 

I love how every lyric grabs you by the throat and demands to be felt, sharp edges or soft hugs. You have to pay attention to every syllable because it is part of an unfolding story, all its twists and turns still unbeknownst to you, the listener. 

Also, I love how this album has made me feel so incredibly connected to her in that she has merged reality and imagination in these songs, which is my favorite thing to do when I write myself. Sometimes my imagination is my salvation. And it sure seems like these songs, this world, these characters, these memories, were hers these last few months.
