Question for the neuro-divergent community!

I have a friend who's daughter is on the autism spectrum, as well as has ADHD, PTSD (from her bio-mom before her current mother got her), receptive language disorder, expressive language disorder, excoriation disorder, OCD, primary insomnia, and sensory processing disorder.

She needs a care giver and likely always will for daily needs. She is mostly non-verbal but she can talk, it's just that mostly she seems to mimick. (Example: she knows people say hello to her when they see her, so she says hello every time someone passes by her, even if that person has walked passed multiple times in a small time period.)

She's not hard to care for but she's twelve now and has never been able to be fully potty trained. She understands the concept but refuses to use the toilet. Her mother has tried to find out why, if maybe it's a sensory issue or something, but every time she asks the answer is "Because I want to". She wears her pull ups during the day we'll, but at night when she pees/poops in then she often takes them off to play in it, ending up in messy sheets, walls and flooring. Her mother has tried praise systems, she's tried having her help clean up and nothing seems to work because the...joy? Of just not using the toilet outweighs the good things she might get or the "punishment" she might receive. If she has her pull ups she doesn't see the point in using the toilet.

Is there any reason she would feel the need to do this? Is there a way to lessen it? Is there a way to replace appropriate and similar stim items so she's not aging with her waste? Her furniture often needs to be moved to properly clean and it's difficult for her mother to do that.
