“Andi give me five minutes”, on this sunny Saturday, (y/n) was getting ready while her daughter rushed her to go meet Andy. “hurry ma hurry!” the little girl’s excitement could be felt in the way she jumped up and down, Andi couldn’t hold on any longer to go out and have a day full of fun.
Andy picked them up from their home and they went for a drive. (y/n) took him to some of the best places the town has to offer, the little gardens full of flowers and a fountain, among other pretty places. All this while she couldn’t help but steal glances at Andy, the man looked so good even in a simple T-shirt and Jeans.
Next destination was a cozy little coffee shop where they got coffee and Andi got her favourite hot chocolate. “Now the park! please!” Andi pleaded, holding both of their hands. The adults giggled and shared a look. “Of course, let’s go to the park, miss Andi.” Andy promised. “yay!” she hurried and got into the car. The adults chuckled at the little girl’s excitement.
The evening sun glowed in the sky giving an orange hue, about to set for the day when they arrived at the park. Andy and (y/n) settled on the bench while Andi played in the park. “I had a great day today.” Andy informed with a beautiful smile gracing his face. “me too Andy, and so did Andi, i mean look at her, she is so happy.” Truly the little girl was very happy. She waved at the two adults looking at her, with a smile on her face. Her ma seemed happy, she was happy too.
“I don’t know if this is too soon but would you like to go on a date with me?” Andy asked nervously. A wide smile appeared on (y/n)’s face as she said “yes”. The journey back to (y/n)’s home was nice and soothing. Andi talked about how much fun she had the whole day and the other two listened with smiles on their faces.
“Why don’t you come in? I mean unless you are busy.” (y/n) asked as the car stopped in front of their home. “Sure.” They all went in, Andi rushed inside, happy to spend more time with Andy. “Wash your hands baby!” (y/n) yelled, Andy followed (y/n) chuckling at how adorable the mother-daughter duo is. “I’ll make some coffee for us.” (y/n) smiled as entered the kitchen. “Do you need help?” He asked. “Oh no it’s fine, you could talk to Andi meanwhile?” he nodded and soon little Andi joined him.
She showed him her room and her toys and books. “That’s Mr. Bubbles” she picked up a stuffed Panda Bear and showed it to Andy. “Hi Mr. Bubbles, it’s nice to meet you.” Andi giggled. “He is a toy silly, he can’t talk.”
“Andi? Andy?” (y/n) called from the living room. “Which one of us do you think she is calling?” Andy asked the little girl. “I think both” she giggled holding Andy’s hand, pulling him to the living room. “There you both are” she smiled. “Hi” the other two said in unison.
“Alright sweetie, here” she gives her daughter a snack “thank you ma!” Andi runs away to have her snack and play.
“Here you go” she gives Andy a cup of coffee “Thanks” they both sit on the couch. Andy had already given her a brief idea about his family and that he was recently divorced. She too informed him how it was always her and Andi, her father never in the picture. “It must have been difficult to do it all alone?” Andy asked taking a sip of his coffee.
“It was, but it was worth it you know? Andi is so amazing, being her mother makes me proud. her father, well he doesn’t deserve to be called that i think, anyway so as soon as he found about the baby he broke up with me. Now i think it’s better he wasn’t a part of this family. I found out later that he had been cheating on me.” she sighs
“i am sorry sweetheart, i hope you know you deserve so much better.” Andy smiled and she smiled back, nodding. He cleared his throat “Well i already told you I have a son and about my divorce. what i didn’t tell you yet is that my family was involved in a court case. I- just didn’t want you to get a wrong idea, we won the case. my past is a part of my life but it’s not my whole life you know? I love my son so much. At the same time I want a fresh start, this town is my fresh start.” he exhaled and took another sip.
“My son- If you want details about the case you can google it.” he looked away and she kept her hand on his gently. “it’s okay, Andy. I am sorry for what you went through. I really am. As you said, it’s in the past. You should focus on your present and future.”
Andy smiled softly. “Thank you”, that’s all he could say, even though he wanted to say so much more. He finished his coffee “Alright I should go now, hope to see you soon. You still on for the date?” she nodded. “Andi!! come here baby, Andy’s leaving.” Little footsteps followed.
Little Andi hugged him as he crouched to her level. “Bye Andy. Had so much fun today. You’re nice!” she beamed and kissed his cheek, giggling. “I had so much fun too, miss Andi. Thank you for spending the day with me.” she kept giggling. “Ma! tell him you had fun too.” (y/n) chuckled. “I did” she smiled looking at Andy and Andi.
“Bye ladies.” he stood at their door “Hey?” (y/n) placed a hand on his shoulder. “I had a really good time today, smiled a lot, laughed a lot. Thank you.” a big smile adorned his face. “I am glad (y/n), I like seeing you smile, you look even more beautiful.”
“Yes my Ma is beautiful!” Andi exclaimed excitedly. “She is indeed.” Andy said, adoringly looking at (y/n). “oh stop it, you both” she chuckled. “Bye Andy, take care.” (y/n) gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. Andy blushed. “Bye, take care both of you.” with that he went towards his parked car.
Before getting in he looked at (y/n) and asked. “Talk soon?” she nodded with a big smile on her face. “Talk soon.” He got in and drove away.
“Yay, you like him!” Andi said in a chirpy voice clapping her hands.
