island of lost dakotas headcanon(s)

alright take this (this is meant to be before they lose time travel/after they probably get it back sooner or later)

whenever a new dakota enters the island, after they get settled in of course, they are asked by many other dakotas: “any closer?” as in, “any closer to a relationship?”

usually they respond with “a little,” or if the time between dakotas is short they say no, but sometimes a dakota comes and says something, like a “yes!,” that gives all the dakotas a spring in their step. it restores hope and spirits for a little while.

while the dakotas would be able to tell if something happened overtly or on the outside through movie nights, only the dakota who experienced it would be able to confirm it. plus, the cameras probably can’t record everything that happens between them. its a pretty bittersweet time when new dakotas arrive, bitter that cavendish died once again so close, but sweet because all the dakotas get some new stories of them together, stories that the cams failed to capture.

on the topic of dakavendish on the island, the last dakota to come to the island for a pretty long time is the last dakota not in a relationship with cav. their relationship allows them both to look after each other like never before. so its a big and tragic accident when cav dies the next time after months and months. the dakota that gets islanded as a result of that is absolutely devastated, and the rest of the dakotas look after him, but also ask him about what it was like.

movie nights change after this dakota comes - the shows are more cavendish centric for a few weeks and usually don't feature present dakota anymore to take new dakota's feelings into consideration. once he feels a little better the shows ease back into how they were.

so on a gay mml server i’m in, i made a funny au-thingamajig where in season 3, dakota gets captured by the robot uprising (heard this might be a thing in s3). and as a result of him not wanting to give the robots intel or whatever, he gets his arm cut off! thats pretty dark for a disney show but this is the same show that did island of lost dakotas 3 years ago so i think anything is on the table

basically cavendish comes and saves him or whatever like bros do and he gets very concerned with dakota just lacking a right arm and dakota’s just making jokes!! second image is dakota finally being serious for a second, first is after he got a sweet robot arm for the season finale!! >:DDD
