Ooh, minor depressing headcanon. Maybe Dib finally gets prescribed antidepressants (I headcanon that he has depression) and starts gaining weight that way? The meds along with an increased appetite make the weight pile on. At first he's a insecure about the chub, but thankfully he has certain people (Zim) there to ravish his new squish. It's cute and soft and it's a sign that he's eating more.
YOU. YOU’RE HIRED. Characters being a bit insecure about their weight but their partners snuggling into it and reassuring them is my shit.
“The Dib is happier now, no?”
“I mean... I’m slightly less sad, I guess? I’ve only been taking them for about a month and a half.”
“That counts!” Zim looks up from his spot in Dib’s lap to poke at his nose.
“Ow!”
“If those pills make your meat-brain less-sad, and the biggest side effect is more of you for Zim to rest his head on, then that’s no problem at all, is it?”
A slight smile crossed Dib’s face as he scratched at the base of Zim’s antennae, and Zim settled his head down on Dib’s lap again, nuzzled against his stomach.
“I guess not.”
