Karbala 097. This image is a homage and almost a total recreation of a watercolor painting by an inspiring and masterful artist named Augustus Osborne lamplough. He was known for his landscape paintings of Egypt and his work provided me with a good deal of reference in terms of color schemes and scenery, given that landscapes is not my strong suit and something I’m developing, I took refuge in studying his artwork and used my story as an excuse to practice painting from older masters. This painting, which I’ve recreated digitally here with slight tweaks served very well from my purposes as an establishing shot.
