Italian Sausage Meatball Subs are a delicious twist on the classic meatball sub, featuring flavorful Italian sausage meatballs smothered in marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese, all sandwiched between soft sub rolls.
Ingredients: 1 lb Italian sausage. 1/2 cup breadcrumbs. 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese. 1 egg. 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. 1/2 teaspoon onion powder. Salt and pepper to taste. 4 sub rolls. 1 cup marinara sauce. 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese. 1/4 cup sliced fresh basil.
Instructions: Preheat oven to 375F 190C. In a large bowl, combine Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through. Slice the sub rolls in half lengthwise and place them on a baking sheet. Spread marinara sauce on the bottom half of each sub roll. Place cooked meatballs on top of the sauce, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Bake in the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from oven and sprinkle with fresh basil. Cover with the top half of the sub rolls and serve hot.
