Some soh stuff but mostly redone refs and goofy things, there are… more lore-related things to come. The Twili dude is not a spoiler btw, he’s practically a concept because I haven’t settled on anything for his character yet. But he kinda has a mullet and we are 2 for 2 with red-headed dudes having mullets and that includes Groose

I KNOW I just posted my other character sheet like two months ago, but I wasn’t happy with some of the art so i uhh yeah. This probably won’t get a ton of interaction bc of that but that’s okay. Here’s some of the refs I have been working on, full lineup probably not soon but I can have hope. Some lineart is from the old refs but that’s cuz I didn’t necessarily see anything wrong with them? But yeah. There will be more. Soon-to-be-on-the-lineup people will be under the cut. I’ll probably update and reblog this as I add characters.

During your comic's hiatus, has Sheik changed compared to how you originally portrayed him? Is Sheik the reincarnation of Hylia or her sister? What is her relationship like with her mother and sister?

He’s changed a little but not much, ofc I gave him an actual power instead of vague light manipulation abilities which has changed the course of his character a bit. He’s still got the core parts of himself — intelligence, not much compassion or social skills, religious baggage, the like. I’ve added a few little things, like he’s obsessed with learning about the dragons and prefers the cold because he finds peace while praying in the chilled waters of Hylia’s Shrine (one of the only duties his mom doesn’t force on him). He’s also lonely a lot and makes creatures out of light to keep him company :]

As far as reincarnation stuff goes, Sheik isn’t really an incarnation of the Goddess so much as he’s a vessel. He often gets dreams from the Goddess and, as much as he resents his family’s practices in worship, doesn’t resent Hylia. His sister (Hilda) has similar interests but doesn’t really have any ties to Hylia and isn’t interested in learning about her (she’s a lot more studious than her sibling and is bigger on studying things she knows to be real like plants and creatures rather than religion).

His relationship with his mother (Queen Maldia) is not complicated — they don’t like each other. Pretty sure his mom doesn’t even know what his favorite color is. Tbf I wouldn’t like my mom either if she forced me to bleach my hair as soon as my natural roots started to show. And also like. Fucked up my face. I would be pretty upset. Sheik and Hilda are both closer with their dad (King Rhoam) even if he’s still a little cold towards them. He at least seems to be as interested in who Sheik is as a person as he is interested in running a kingdom. He’s also just nicer in general.

This was just an exercise because yes I need to make fully rendered realistic portraits of my characters to remember what their faces look like. Aka I’m bad at drawing characters on-model so I need a human face that I can relate to and feel empathy for in order to actually do that

I’ll probably do this for the rest of the humanoid characters. Maybe I’ll try with a Zora but that’ll be. Harddddd
