❛ Y’know, that’s not a statement I’d usually disagree with. ❜ Usually being the operative word, for he can’t quite find it in him to accept it now. There’s a fundamental difference, after all, between coming to an acceptance that one’s own life ( and ultimately the lives of family and friends ) is transitory and using it as an excuse to look the other way, to give up and write off a few losses as an acceptable part of life. It would be easy enough to forsake the two individuals trapped by the accident, to declare them already lost ( and well might they be ). Cam’s never one for the easy way out.
And maybe, just maybe, if he stops to think about it, if he truly examines just how much he has accepted death as an inevitable part of life, as something to be embraced and not feared, he’ll find that he’s less in agreement with the perspective than he believes. Life, in all forms, is worth fighting for, and if that means fighting against the inevitability of death itself, Cam’ll embrace the impossible challenge gladly. ❛ But that’s not how this works, not this time. We’re getting them out of there, and you’re helping. ❜
