soisle replied to your post:So I’ve been working on this Heartland fan fiction...
Well, you do as you feel the best, but I’ve found that there’s two sides to posting something right away: 1.) the feedback drives you on 2.) you don’t have time and the story eventually “dies out” under the pressures of publishing. There’s also chance that Heartland hype will be “no more” when you’re done with the whole story, so it’s up to you if that’s “the risk you are willing to take”. But, you could have one title for them all, and just post “chapter 1″, “chapter 2″ under them without naming them all individually. Then you could add small “descriptions” before them all, like “10 years later” and that’s that. I don’t know if this is helpful in any way :)
Yes, it's definitely helpful! The show has definitely brought back interest in Heartland, if not exactly the Heartland books, so I’m excited to see what people think. And of course I want feedback--discussion--conversation--but I also just want to tell this story that I’ve had in my head for years. And I’ll definitely have some sort of description for each chapter so that readers aren’t totally confused when the story jumps around in terms of time--which it will: not in the chapters themselves, but definitely between chapters. Sooo...I think it will be posted soon. If I can make myself get off tumblr and finish that last chapter of Part 1, that is.
(pt 1) Okay, so the story behind the sword and the top hat: whenever Finns graduate from somewhere other than comprehensive school, we get a hat (or actually we buy the hat and it's awarded to us in the graduation ceremony). It varies what kind of hat it is based on what kind of school you went to. The hats are all different shaped and colored and they have these "additions" on them, so from looking at the hats you would know through "the codes" where this person graduated from.
(pt 2) For example, I have this "sailor like" hat because I graduated from high school (you might have seen a picture of it on my IG). Doctors get a top hat and its shape symbolizes truth and honesty. Generally the color of the hat is black, although a few faculties use colored doctoral hats. On the front, the hat has a gold-colored metallic emblem of the granting university or faculty. The hat costs something like 560 US dollars (500 euros). (pt 3/3) In practice, the hat is mostly worn on academic occasions, such as opening ceremonies, commencement, and disputations. As for the sword, it has to be bought just like the hat. The sword also symbolizes the truth, and "you protect" the right and wrong with it, so to speak. They started this tradition back in 1840 and they still have it. Every university has a different kind of logo that they put into the sword. They also engrave your name and the date of graduation on it.
This is way cooler than our American grad traditions. Thanks for the explanation.
Kerry looks so nice in that recent fan photo :) I'm glad he seems to be more around during season 9!
Aww me too, was a lucky find :) Always makes my day knowing he's been on set and looks like it may be more then the mention on Twitter thankfully :)
I was driving for hours today and listened through 3 Celine Dion albums. It made me wonder what are your favorites? :D Just in case we ever get stuck in one car.
I haven’t listened to any of her albums as a whole, I just have her greatest hits CD and found other songs on youtube.
Great, though very heavy (in an interesting way), chapter of TC. I like that her story softens Ty to be the person he was when he came to Heartland. Really loving this story because it explores part of Ty we barely see these days. Thanks for it! :)
Aw, thanks. =) Softy Ty isn’t going to last, though. Things will change by the end of this story. (Oh, spoilers?)
I fear I might miss the others too because if he does them around the same time, I'm probably already in bed. I was just about to leave my computer to go to sleep when my phone gave me his Periscope alarm, so I stuck around. But, we'll see!
Thank goodness for those notifications! But the Meet & Greet today was later than all of the others (1pm - 3pm). The rest are from 10am until noon, so maybe the other chats will be earlier as well. And at least the chats stay up a good 24 hours, so we’ll have a chance of catching them later.

Oh man, I hope he does one of these with Amber like he said!
I really hope so! But with my luck that will most likely be one I’m not around to see.
