The main themes are “inner beauty makes you outwardly beautiful” and authenticity vs. perfection.
Part 1: Introductions
Summary
Myeong So-jin is a cheerful second-year middle schooler enjoying life. Between living in a beautiful town with so much to do, and being surrounded by family and friends, So-jin can't help but smile with joy! But when a person turns into a strange monster right in front of her and begins terrorizing the town, she is exposed to the uglier side of life.
Still, So-jin isn't going down without a fight! And her desire to protect the beauty of her home attracts the attention of a fairy named Acthea, who comes from Areumsan, a magical mountain that keeps the world bright and beautiful. With Acthea’s help, So-jin channels her Inner Light and transforms into the legendary warrior, PreCure! True beauty comes from within, and using that power, So-jin and her fellow PreCure will protect the world!

Cures and Fairies:
Myeong So-jin (명소진)/Cure Bliss: A 14-year-old girl who tries to see the beauty in everything. Her family runs a side dish shop called Lovely Sides Gallery. Growing up, her parents wanted her to be able to find happiness no matter what, so they frequently taught her to look for beauty, even in the simple things or the difficult things. So-jin is very cheerful and hardworking, but also a bit of a busybody. Her catchphrase is, "Life is beautiful!" "An infectious smile brightens the darkness! Cure Bliss!" (Motif: Facial expressions)
Acthea (악테아): So-jin's fairy partner. Her passion is theater, particularly acting. While emotionally perceptive and good at mediating, she can be a bit of a worrier and be harsh on herself and others.
Cheon Se-ra (천세라)/Cure Thread: A girl who loves clothes and fashion. She places a heavy importance on image, but knows that even the finest clothes can’t hide a messy personality. Her parents are doctors, and they’re often busy. Se-ra is strong-willed and decisive, but can sometimes come off as aggressive. She's a childhood friend and classmate of So-jin. "A good outfit flies higher than the clouds! Cure Thread!" (Motif: Spiders)
Huit (후이트): Se-ra's fairy partner. His passion is fashion, much like Se-ra. He goes with the flow and adapts to new situations easily, but if he lets his guard down, he becomes scatterbrained and prone to panicking.
Bo Seong-hye (보성혜)/Cure Endear: A soft-spoken girl whose family owns a flower shop called Growing Wonders. She loves flower arranging and plans to take over the family business when she grows up. She is deceptively tough and athletic. Seong-hye is patient and gentle, but also very adverse to serious conflict. She's childhood friends and classmates with So-jin and Se-ra. Canvas (캔버스): Seong-hye's fairy partner. His passion is painting. He has strong principles and is able to make difficult decisions, but when he's provoked, he's more likely to pick fights.
Villains:
Lord Mi-chu (미추 님 [Note: "님" doesn't mean "lord," it's simply used to indicate great respect.]): The main villain. About 500 years ago, Lord Mi-chu was a vain nobleman from Joseon. He was prideful about his beauty, and became fearful of losing it as he aged, an attempted to seize power to grant himself eternal beauty. He was aided by his daughter, who was similarly vain. The two become corrupted and tried to destroy the world, but were defeated and sealed away in a painting by a PreCure and her fairy partner. However, that seal has been weakened in recent times, and their corrupted power has begun to leak out. (Motif: Tal masks)
Pa-pyeon (파편): Lord Mi-chu's minion. She doesn't talk much and prefers to get right down to business, and her tenacity makes her a dangerous opponent. (Motif: Broken vase) “Look at you: cracked and broken! Let’s make things worse, shall we? Come forth, Mossaengin, and put out the Inner Light!”
Mossaengin (못생긴): The monsters summoned by Lord Mi-chu and his followers. They are created from people who are experiencing feelings of frustration, insecurity, or inferiority. They wear masks and have ugly, grotesque bodies based on the person they were created from. The Cures purify them to free the victims.
Other:
Myeong So-mi (명소미): So-jin's younger sister. She's in the 3rd grade. She's a very sweet and innocent girl, and she looks up to So-jin and the other girls a lot.
Gyo Eun-hwa (교은화): Se-ra's maternal grandmother who is a retired theater star. She lives with Se-ra and her parents, and often watched over Se-ra for them.
Bo Seong-gang (보성강): Seong-hye's older brother who is in his 1st year of university. He is a taekwondo athlete and is training to be in the Olympics. He has a casual yet fiercely loving personality.
B4Morning (비포모르닝): A K-pop boy group the girls are a fan of. The group has been active for nearly 3 years. There are 4 members: 1) Wonho (원호): The group’s leader and main vocalist. He’s the driving force and keeps everyone focused. 2) Dawn-H (던에이치): The group’s mat-hyung (eldest brother) and rapper. He’s the smart, calm one. 3) Y-Break (와이브레이크): The group’s rebel and visual. He's popular for his assertive yet caring personality. 4) Su-rise (수라이즈): The group’s maknae (little brother) and lead dancer. He’s cheerful with a mischievous streak. “Sun is up! 안녕하세요, B4Morning입니다!”
Grandpa Memor (메모르 할아버지): An elderly fairy from Areumsan. His passion is history. Old and wise, he has documented human history his entire life.
Locations, Terminology, and Items
Yeonghyu-eup (영휴읍): The hometown of the members of the Inner Glow PreCure. The town is a coastal farming town with nearby mountains. So-jin, Se-ra, and Seong-hye live in the same neighborhood.
Areumsan (아름산): A magical otherworldly mountain inhabited by fairies who study beauty in all forms. Fairies from Areumsan can't turn human, but can turn invisible for up to a few hours, allowing them to observe humans without getting caught. Fairies from Areumsan also bear the mark of Areumsan somewhere on their bodies, usually their forehead or belly. As long as Areumsan is alive, beauty continues to exist in the human world. The painting Lord Mi-chu and his daughter were sealed in was hidden here, and with their corrupted power spreading, Areumsan has had to use some of its power to protect the remaining fairies who have not been turned into Mossaengins by Lord Mi-chu.
Naemyeonbit (내면빛)/Inner Light: A magical radiance emanated from anything with beauty, be it art, appearance, activity, or emotion. The fairies use Inner Light is used to sustain Areumsan. A bright Inner Light indicates a particularly powerful or profound beauty, but Inner Light can dim with anger or lack of confidence. Lord Mi-chu and his followers target people with dimmed Inner Light, darkening it completely to turn them into Mossaegins.
Inside Light Pad: The transformation item of the Inner Glow PreCure. It resembles a small drawing pad with a stylus. To start the transformation, the Cures must say, "Pretty Cure, In Glows Out!"
Inside Heart Gem: A gem made from crystalized Inner Light. The fairies summon their partner's Inside Heart Gem to allow them to transform.
