In the 22nd century, after a dark period of tyrannical rule, there was a movement to remember all that had been achieved in the early 21st century as well as that which occurred in the mid and late 21st century.
The 21st century of recorded human civilization on earth was an essential turning point in the development of interstellar travel. The foundation for this scientific revolution had been sown some time in the years between 2020 and 2050. Many believe communist China and other eastern hemisphere nations to have a critical role in this.
However, no one could have predicted the sudden shift in power in North America when the infamous President Daniel Radcliffe ((I may change the name later)) assassinated both his House of Representatives and his Senate. Only his loyalists survived.
Soon he would proclaim himself super president of the North American empire. Which also meant he would go to war against Canada and Mexico. The two nations surrendered quickly as crippling debt from a second global depression had removed them of the funds to stop the super president’s troops.
Gradually he would move from continent to continent and assimilate each nation within. Those who surrendered were assimilated peacefully and their countries traditions were preserved. Those who resisted violently would have the survivors indoctrinated with extreme patriotism and love of their new governing force.
When the rule was ruled by the newly formed Continental Empires, with North America at the forefront, it was decided to expand into the rest of the solar system. So a massive amount of resources were devoted to improving space travel. As a result, a scientific revolution sparked and now with near unlimited global minds and resources, previously impossible design theories were tested. One of these was the creation of light speed travel and the opening of temporary wormholes and portals to get from point A to point B.
The first colony opened was, of course, on the moon. When it was proven that humans could live comfortably off world, Mars was colonized soon after, as well as its moons.
A few years later, around 2167, the Martian colonists began to think “Hey, why is earth bossing around Mars? We should strive for independence from earth!”. The aging super president did not approve and cut off Mars’ shipments of supplies, but the colony had long since achieved self sufficiency and also convinced the super president’s troops to change their alliegence to Mars’. In response to such treachery, the super president called upon his fleets to invade the rebellious colony. The newly formed Martian Conglomerate and its own forces would successfully hold off the invading fleet.
With a majority of the armed forces now fighting on Mars, the people of earth threw their own rebellion against a mad super president and his dwindling armies.
When the smoke and fire cleared, a new civilization rose from the ashes. The Sol Hegemony would be the new governing power. This new power would be the one to last until the first contact between humans and The Yakshuda. But that is a story for another time.
