even afraid, we build our home

Kubide and Saar finally introduce Solas to the Valo-Kas, and after some good-natured hazing, Saar asks him to participate in their ritual of painting each other’s vitaar. Solas agrees, in spite of how much this reminds him of darker aspects of his history. This is how they welcome family home, and he wants to be a part of it.

But sometimes, the past casts a long shadow, and coming home is messy.

“Stop,” Saar says. “Don’t let him go.” Kubide stops. Solas lets out a desperate noise, poorly muffled against the skin of Saar’s chest. His hips jerk—or try to. Kubide’s grip is firm around his waist, even as her breath shudders and whistles. — Saar, Solas, and Kubide try something a little different.

i asked @wanderingnork at some point 'hey, would kubide be cool having sex with solas and saar?', the answer was yes very much so, and then things got out of hand very very quickly

Saar has been fine being quietly in love with Kubide for years now. Kubide has been fine not thinking about the weird feelings she sometimes gets around Saar.

That changes when Solas finally cracks under the strain of their combined pining and tries to do something about it.
