I wanna know all about your OCS c:
Nightmare Lavellan’s real name is Ayla, but I just call her Nightmare. She is 27 at the start of Inquisition. Her father and mother were both crafters and traders in the clan and would often take Ayla to market with them when she was young. When her magic started to develop, many members in the clan warned against taking her into the human villages, but her parents insisted she need to learn to control her gifts in order to both hide and protect herself and her clan. Thus she began early on to develop a remarkable sense of self control. In on the the human settlements they frequently visited and traded with there was a kindly older woman who ran a shabby little bookshop, who took a special interest in the pretty little elven girl, giving her books to read and telling her stories in exchange for Ayla’s own stories which the young child would gleefully tell and act out to the delight of anyone who would stop and listen.
As she aged, her beauty blossomed further, and there were few who could resist staring at her when she came near. She continued to take interest in learning all that she could, from any source she could find, absorbing information with ease, and learning skills quickly.
When she reached the age of adulthood, she chose the vallaslin of June, as many in her clan did, to honor the craftsmanship and skills her people had come to rely so heavily on.
Despite her parents’ and keepers’ best efforts, Ayla grew up a little vain. She knew that she was more intelligent than most elves she had ever met, Dailish or otherwise. She also discovered that she knew more than most humans she came into contact with as well. Her wealth of knowledge has left her fairly skeptical when it comes to most of Thedas’ legends and lore.
Ayla has broken many hearts in the years of her life. Her parents had to keep a close eye on her when they would go to the villages to trade, as she had five or six young men, and women, elves and human alike, and even a dwarven merchant or two, who bring her small gifts and attempt to lure her away to seek more intimate surroundings.
That’s enough for now...I suppose
