1950s Patrick is cool, but imagine how tragic the story of 1940s Patrick is...
The war started and he is taken into the army, you cry and are afraid of losing your wonderful beloved husband. You can never be sure whether he will live or not, but can only believe and hope that at least he will remain alive, not to mention the injuries both physical and psychological, since war does not spare anyone. You spend your last night of love with him, whispering to him how much you love him and that you won't let him die. Maybe the conversation will even get to the baby, about how they want a baby and what you would name the baby after him. Patrick or Patricia :)) When a tear runs down cheek, he comforts you, says that he loves you, that he will never die and leave you alone. You end up falling asleep hugging him, and you look at him for the last time, knowing that tomorrow he will leave. In the morning you see him off, constantly kissing and hugging him the whole way, 'cause you understand that this is the only chance to be satiated with his love and adoration. You wave your handkerchief at him, shedding a tear, and here he is, leaving. All that remains is to believe that his service will be easier than others and that he will return to their home with the same wonderful smile and bright, shining eyes that you fell in love with.
Every time I realize that I'm a damn director, not a screenwriter. Give me my lovely screenwriter!!!
I haven't written to you for a long time, girlie. Amy, how are you?! What's up? 🤗🤗
- 🐦⬛
I'm gonna give you a blow job for this one, little bird. How am I doing? After reading this? Absolutely fucking wonderful.
One thing people must know about me is that I love angst and THIS..... 🫦🫦🫦 SO SO SO GOOD!
Imagine Patrick somewhere in the trench, the sun is falling down and he's shivering, purple bruises on his cheeks, his hair a complete mess. Unwashed, starving, the lack of sleep and warmth is very much evident in the way he's shivering but by some miracle, he hasn't gone crazy yet.
Perhaps it's the image of your beautiful face that he keeps in his pocket, a little photograph he has torn out of your family memory book that you keep in the living room, just to have you with himself at all times. All the men in his troop know about you, know your name and age and what flowers you like, that you love to dance to Glenn Miller's songs and wear the prettiest dresses. Patrick keeps talking about you nonstop.
And currently, he's writing a letter to you, one that he's been writing for the past there weeks and he honestly has no idea if his writings are ever gonna be seen by your eyes. Patrick is desperate to remain in contact with you, but he knows that even if all the letters would remain stuffed in his pocket, you'll know damn well what messages he is attempting to send you.
Luckily, through some begging and mutual contacts, he manages to give the letter to some guy. Patrick kisses it a thousand of times, hoping you'll get a whiff of his scent, even though he smells like dirt and piss.
My darling,
I miss you dearly and I miss you every day. Remember how I told you Remarque was a stupid fool? How I couldn't believe a single word from his book? This place is worse than All quiet on the western front, it's worse than hell itself.
Every day I thank myself for taking that little picture of your beautiful face to look at. It keeps me sane, I think, and I look at it more than I used to look at your real face. Forgive me it I've ever made you cry, my love. I cry every night.
Don't waste your words asking me how I'm doing, write about your days instead. Are you doing all alright? Are you keeping the place clean and that stray dog that keeps sneaking into our garden well fed? Has your mother's flu been treated and is she feeling better?
Please, darling, spray your perfume on the paper when you write me a response. Use the whole bottle it you feel like it's not enough. I just need to feel you somehow. If you can and find away, send me some food. Anything. In cans, preferably. Me and the boys are starving. They want to meet you when we're all back home. I talk about you and our memories every night.
I will be missing you until my heart stops beating.
Sergeant Chanyeol x Sniper Reader, enemies to lovers au!
Word count: 4472
Genre: fluff, action, slight smut.
Author: maari
Warnings: mentions of fight, guns, bad guys and death (not the main characters), very suggestive but nothing too explicit I can't actually write smut so I'm trying sorry.
Note: Not him only being my bias but also serving in the infantry, the same one that I wanted to serve in my country's army, coincidence? I don't think so. I don’t know nothing about the korean army i think you can tell but I made a research and the position of Chanyeol in the army it’s similar to Sergeant so we gonna stick with that, ok? Ok.
Summary: You saved Chanyeol's life, your biggest enemy, and now you will charge.

Whoever came up with the idea of putting Chanyeol and Y/N on the same team must have done it on purpose.
The two hated each other, the whole division knew that. In fact, the entire army knew.
She thought he was cocky, whenever he had the opportunity to rub the patent in her face he did.
While Chanyeol found her arrogant, it was clear that she was jealous of him and the only thing she did was doubt his ability to lead.
Hatred was something they both couldn't explain the real reason for. They had already taken serious punishments for their behavior, they didn't reach physical aggressions, not for lack of opportunity, but because their colleagues separated them.
But the choice was purely technical, Chanyeol was great at combat and Y/N was an excellent sniper. Perfect for the rescue mission of one of the commanders who was held hostage in enemy territory.
And while they knew exactly that, it wasn't like they were going to stop arguing once they got to the right spot and started talking with Jin about the plan.
Poor Jin, always between the two.
“I'm saying, Park, let me in. I'm smaller than you two, I'll walk into any hole." she saw him roll his eyes for the thousandth time and he took a deep breath.
"You just want an opportunity to show your skills." he said and she laughed humorlessly.
As if he didn't want to do the same.
"And you just want to show off your Sergeant rank." she complained and Chanyeol smiled teasingly.
“The rank you want?” he asked and before she could reply he continued. "And it's sir to you, don't forget my position." he pointed to the uniform where the rank symbol was and she went still. “Do you understand, soldier?”
Y/N swallowed what she really meant to tell.
"Yes sir." she replied against her will, making his smile widen.
She wanted to punch those perfect white teeth.
“Are you guys finished so I can give my opinion?” Jin asked ironically and they agreed. “The Sergeant is right, Y/N, the mission is to enter and withdraw. You're a great sniper, we need a watchful eye out here. I cover for you.” Jin spoke to Chanyeol.
“Then let's decide the codes. Eagle." he pointed at Y/N. "Raven." then to Jin. "And…"
“How about cockroach?” Y/N spoke as she saw him point at himself.
Chanyeol laughed wryly, trying not to fall into her little game even though it was a difficult task.
She could irritate every last tip of his toenail.
"Dolphin." he decided. “Check your communicators and equipment.” he ordered and the two did.
Y/N prepared the equipment on the ground, her long gun that had been her partner lately and put on the infrared sight, plugged the communicator to her ear and lay on the ground, adjusting the weapon on her shoulder and looking through the scope. Alright.
"Try not to hit me, it's the plan to return with no bodies to the base." Chanyeol spoke to her, watching she raise her head with a playful smile on her face.
"Don't worry, as tempting as it is for me, I know how to control my feelings, sir." she spoke wryly and saw him roll his eyes but not respond.
Chanyeol and Jin walked away, weapons ready and taking cautious steps as they surveyed the area of the abandoned shack. Y/N followed them looking through the scope, her instincts sharper and on alert. Although the intelligence work had been very successful in finding out where the commander was being held, she felt that something was wrong.
The shack was exactly on the border between the two countries, right in the middle, a place that until then the South Korean army had ignored, the region was remote and difficult to access, but after satellite images showed unknown movement, the place was carefully observed by drones while commanders of other divisions were too busy with other problems.
However, after realizing that there were too many orders arriving at that location, a team was assigned to look closely at the situation. The army engaged the enemy, casualties were high, and the commander was held hostage.
And that was where the white horse division came in.
The division was highly decorated and had high level soldiers, so it was chosen to rescue the hostage and return. No more deaths in that place apart from the enemies.
“Do you see this, Raven?” Chanyeol said while looking at the wooden boxes outside the shack, there were many and they weren't there for nothing
“Positive, Dolphin. If that's what I'm imagining, we've entered a minefield.” Jin responded and covered the Sergeant, seeing him approach and lower his weapon.
“What are you seeing?” Y/N asked curiously, it was still quiet. Too quiet.
Chanyeol took the knife from his belt and opened one of the boxes, his back being protected by Jin who was watching the place.
“Armament. Heavy." Chanyeol replied and shook his head, that just could be a new base for terrorists.
“AK47?” Y/N asked, this time taking a deep breath.
"Not only that." Chanyeol opened another box, this time dark, and swallowed hard when he saw what was there. "They have enough bombs to destroy an entire city."
The three soldiers were on alert.
If they kept weapons and bombs, the plan was much bigger than they imagined. They hadn't taken the commander hostage just to look nice.
"Let's hurry, Dolphin." Jin warned and looked back quickly, seeing the Sergeant nod.
“Shoot anything that moves.” he ordered. “Do you see any movement in the shack, Eagle?”
“Negative, sir. It’s dark, with no thermal signs.” she warned. If the information was correct, the hostage was underground and they would have a 9-minute time window to rescue and get out of there.
"Let's go in." Chanyeol spoke and saw Jin next to him.
They went in, it wasn't difficult to adapt to the darkness and they analyzed it well. The shack looked so far normal, almost empty except for a table and a few chairs, an old kitchen that had only recently been used.
They headed for the stairs that would take them down to the basement, still on the alert in case they needed to clash, but the place was empty. They went to the door where the hostage was supposed to be and Chanyeol opened it, with Jin behind him and his gun pointed.
Hearing a groan of pain, Chanyeol turned on the flashlight and saw the injured commander, sitting in a corner and tied up.
"We found the hostage, extracting it now." Chanyeol warned and went to the commander, undoing the ropes and making him lean on his shoulder.
He was injured and could barely stand up but he was alive.
Y/N noticed a strange movement and cursed when she saw what it was.
"You guys need to leave now, they're back." She warned, hearing Jin complain.
"How? We still had two minutes.” Chanyeol spoke and they tried to hurry, but with the commander weak like that, it would take more than two minutes.
"They knew." Y/N noticed the way they approached the shack with long strides and weapons at the ready.
Chanyeol huffed and handed the commander over to Jin, who stared at him confused, but held the man back.
"Get him out of here, I'll delay them." he spoke, although the soldier didn't agree it wasn't like he had time to argue, so he lifted the commander on his own shoulders after dropping the gun and carried him. “How many, Eagle?” Chanyeol asked and held tight to the gun, heading towards the door of the shack they had passed while Jin came out the other side.
"Six." she reported, already with one in her sights. They got closer and closer to the shack.
“I take care of three and you take care of the rest.” warned and she could almost smile when she heard that.
She assumed her all-too-familiar sniper stance and when she saw Jin come out the other side with the hostage, she shot the first one.
A clear shot to the head, which made the others run confused and shooting all over the place, hoping it would hit whoever shot it.
But Y/N was at a strategic point and the uniform hid her very well between the bush and the fact that she was small compared to her colleagues, helped her even more.
She found the second target, this time hitting the back of the head.
However, the third target entered with the others and she momentarily lost him.
Chanyeol prepared himself inside the shack, hiding as much as possible in the dark when he heard the gunshots. The first guy who came in, he hit the knife in his neck, which instantly fell like rotten fruit.
The second pointed the gun at Chanyeol but he disarmed him before he fired, the noise of the shot echoing throughout the shack, the two had a hand fight and when Chanyeol noticed that a third came in ready to shoot, he used the man's body as a shield and the third fired. Killing his own partner.
Chanyeol was quick to throw his body on top of the third man, this caused him to get distracted and Chanyeol kicked his gun away. The two fought hand to hand, Chanyeol noticed that he was a little smarter than the others, he had a knife and tried several times to hit Chanyeol, so he had some difficulty putting him to sleep, but he managed to give a choke and was about to break his neck when he heard a shot that shattered the window.
He didn't feel the burning of the shot in any part of his body, so he turned around and saw a fourth man go down with a thud to the head.
Chanyeol turned around, not letting go of the man and looked out the window, seeing Y/N get up from where she was with the gun and wave a goodbye, Jin was by her side with the hostage.
He broke the neck of the man he was holding as he felt an odd sense of relief at having been saved by none other than Y/N.
Now he owed her his life.
And she would charge.
[...]
The return to base was quick.
Chanyeol came out of the shack with some photos of the contents of the boxes to show the division commander, more evidence for the plan to protect that area from the terrorists.
The commander was taken straight to the ambulance that was waiting for him at the base and then he would give his statement, a lot of precious information was with him and the Intelligence would need to know.
Chanyeol, Jin and Y/N were released by the commander. Jin took the opportunity to check the equipment for the next mission and Chanyeol disappeared before Y/N even looked at him.
She laughed but it wasn't like she was going to worry about him now, she'd have plenty of time to rub it in his face that if he was alive, it was thanks to her. So she decided to take a shower and eat something while still at the base, without thinking too much about what had happened that night.
It was still dawn when she was heading back to the dorm and she passed a room, hearing a muffled groan of pain. She would have ignored it if it hadn't been for two reasons: she knew that gravelly husky tone all too well. And because he never, ever complained about pain.
The Infantry demanded a lot from a soldier, because everything was fought on land, sometimes in the rain or scorching sun. Aside from the physical fights, there was a lot of heavy training, but Park had a bit of admiration for Y/N for never giving up or protesting. Even after he became a sergeant, he seemed determined to dedicate himself even more.
So, curious, she looked through the half-open door and felt something that until then didn't know she could. Compassion.
That's what motivated her to open the door as she watched Park try to touch his back, unsuccessfully.
“Want some help?” she asked aloud and watched as he returned his attention to her, still not turning to face her.
"No, thank you." he responded by trying to take a deep breath as the position didn't help with the gaping cut in his skin.
But Y/N didn't obey, on the contrary, she approached seeing that he had a first aid box on the bed. Without saying anything, she took a cotton ball and the liquid to clean the cut, during the process she just limited herself to paying attention to what was in her hand.
"Take off your shirt." she ordered and glared at him, seeing him look at her with outrage. He bordered on offense. She even found it funny. “Hurry up, Park.”
He huffed but did so, with some difficulty. Y/N didn't think it would feel a bit hot to see him rip off his black shirt, well, she knew he was strong but even though they were in the same room, she couldn't remember ever seeing him shirtless.
And she wished she hadn't, because Park was defined. Very defined. The kind she couldn't take her eyes off his strong shoulders and well-shaped biceps.
She shook her head as if trying to shake off the naughty thoughts she'd had, this was Park, she shouldn't think of him like that!
And although it was only a momentary lapse, it didn't go unnoticed by Chanyeol who smirked proudly.
"You're pretty stubborn." he commented and Y/N made him raise his arm, the quick contact between the skins generated another feeling, until then unknown to both.
"You seem to forget." she spoke and bent down enough to run the cotton over the cut after analyzing it.
"What?" Chanyeol turned his face to face her and noticed how close she was, in a way they had never been before. He could even get a better look at her face, the concentrated expression as she cleaned the wound was… reassuring.
“That I was the first student in the first aid course.”
Chanyeol gritted his teeth from the burning and saw that she was looking at him out of the corner of her eye, as if she was expecting him to make drama, like most soldiers. But he held back, as usual.
"Now you're going to tell me that you always wanted to be a doctor." a smile played on her lips and Chanyeol didn't find her that annoying.
She was even pretty, when she wasn't pissing him off.
“Wrong, I wanted to be a dancer.” she admitted, straightening up again and discarding the cotton.
"Ballet?" he asked, watching her pick up gauze and bandage.
"Belly dance." she replied and saw his jaw drop, the expression of pure surprise. "Okay, you can laugh." she rolled her eyes as she covered the area with the gauze.
"I won't laugh, I just wanted to understand." Chanyeol admitted, seeing her raise her eyebrow, silently asking what he meant. "How did you go from dancer to army soldier?"
He noticed that she swallowed and the soft touch of the cut ceased, indicating that she was done.
"You were lucky, the cut wasn't deep. I think it's just going to need some ointment for the next few days." she changed the subject and started packing the things in the box.
Chanyeol waited and when he saw her leaving, he held her wrist lightly, making her stop.
The touch gave off a heat they hadn't felt before, but it wasn't strange, quite the opposite.
The way he had touched her was comforting.
Y/N took a deep breath, she knew he wouldn't stop with the questions because she had given him freedom to ask them.
"When your custody is in the hands of the government, you don't have many options." she shrugged, feeling Chanyeol's gaze analyze her deeply, so she sat beside him on the bed.
That would be a long conversation.
"I'm an orphan. I know absolutely nothing about my parents, I wasn't even adopted by any family and within the orphanages I had two options: become a criminal or a law enforcement officer. I ended up studying at a military school and well, I came to a stop here. Not too many adventures." She smiled, without any humor.
Chanyeol looked thoughtful. He didn't know Y/N's story, didn't even remember the one time they'd talked alone.
But now, he understood why she was so withdrawn and why she avoided getting attached to anyone.
"And dancing was part of your life?" he asked in a tone Y/N hadn't even known Chanyeol had the ability to use. Tenderness.
"It did. I used to watch dance videos out of pure curiosity because it takes a lot of training and discipline, those are things the army also needs, but I ended up falling in love with belly dancing. It takes a lot of skill."
Chanyeol stared at her again, analyzing every inch of Y/N's face, as different as the times when they cursed each other or exchanged barbs, she looked vulnerable.
It was as if he was the only person she'd ever opened up to, willing to share something so personal and intimate that no one else knew but him.
"I like playing instruments, I used to think I was going to have a band when I was a teenager." he laughed, looking away.
Y/N looked at him, he had a smile that was amused to remember something and for some reason that warmed her heart, not anger like she was used to.
But because he hadn't made fun of her childhood dreams, he'd shared his own teenage daydreams.
It was as if they were exchanging secrets.
"And why did you join the army?" she asked, curious.
She could even imagine Chanyeol as a vocalist or guitarist in a band.
"My grandfather served in that same division."
The phrase made Y/N understand everything.
She wanted to have that kind of story, follow in the footsteps of a close relative and make him proud to have continued the legacy.
But she couldn't because didn't even know where she came from.
"He sure is very proud of you." she spoke and smiled, seeing he stared instantly.
It was the first time they had looked into each other's eyes at such a short distance, in a welcoming silence.
She had never really noticed Chanyeol's dark eyes but realized that they were lighter than they appeared, the chocolate brown was attractive, she could almost hear a voice calling her to swim in the immensity.
Chanyeol noticed how Y/N's figure fit perfectly with the sparkle she carried in her eyes, of course the vulnerability was still there but he felt a companionship that he had only seen on missions, when she was forced to help him. But there, there was no obligation. It was spontaneous.
He felt as if she was looking for a home like the one he had, an overwhelming urge to protect her then surged.
They didn't realize it but the bodies drew together like magnets, the heat seeking closer and closer. All the disagreements or even anger they felt were far away, they didn't even remember them.
Chanyeol lowered his gaze to her lips, too inviting, it was as if they asked to be kissed and he didn't repress it, he showed the desire he felt.
Y/N didn't object, she could barely, not with him so close. It was ridiculous how her body trembled inside with his cologne, it wasn't the one he put on after his shower that she thought was overdone to get the attention of the few women in the base, it was his natural scent.
Of sweat, gunpowder and danger.
Was he supposed to be stupidly handsome like that even after a mission that almost took his life if it weren't for her?
She bit down hard on her lower lip as she saw him brush their foreheads together, their noses touching softly sending a shiver through both of them.
The moment their lips met, her eyes closed, giving in to the sensation.
She felt Chanyeol's hungry and powerful lips grab hers in a single-tempo dance, slow and sensual, making her feel completely intoxicated. She reciprocated in the same way, feeling her hands tingle and almost create a will of their own to grab his shoulder.
When they pulled apart millimeters, Chanyeol took Y/N's face with one hand and brought her back, just the feel of his long fingers made her give herself completely to the new kiss that started greedy, almost desperate.
She threw her arms around his neck, bringing their bodies closer, feeling Chanyeol bring his hands to her waist as their tongues met.
While they fit perfectly, Chanyeol forced his torso so that Y/N lay on the bed with him on top and he made her sigh, wrapped her legs around his waist.
He raised one hand to the back of her neck, feeling the skin prickling under his fingers, and set the pace of the kiss. Slower than Y/N wanted, so she pulled away, breathless, and glared at him.
"I'm the sergeant, beautiful." he smirked, seeing her lips completely red and swollen.
"Your patent has no jurisdiction here, Park." she complained, feeling her body temperature rise considerably.
He shook his head and brought his lips to the back of her neck, placing long wet kisses on her skin, making her squeeze his shoulder.
"It is what you think." he replied, close to her ear.
Y/N had to close her eyes to control the sounds her mouth wanted to make.
"I hate you." she spoke and felt his teeth grip the skin near her collarbone.
"It's mutual." he responded with anger and pleasure at the same time.
Y/N felt his wide hands go to her uniform shirt and forcefully undo the buttons, he pulled away enough that she could lift her torso to discard the uniform across the room.
The two looked at each other once more, the anger was there once more but now it was mixed with the desire of the heat of both bodies to get involved and suddenly everything seemed more desperate.
When the lips met again, the rhythm was faster as the hands trailed and tried to remove the other pieces that hindered the process.
Chanyeol lifted her onto his lap when he remembered the bedroom door was open, on the way to close it Y/N planted kisses on his neck as he gripped her thighs tightly to keep her steady.
He tossed her onto the bed, seeing her smile with her teeth gripping her lower lip, his hurried hands making their way to her boots which were thrown in a corner along with her pants.
When Chanyeol got back on top, covering her body with his own, she helped him get rid of his pants, Y/N taking it off with her own feet while receiving a dirty look from him.
They kissed again, Y/N stopped her hands on his broad back feeling the warm skin between her palms while Chanyeol couldn't stop caressing her entire body, he wanted to memorize every inch from top to bottom.
It wasn't until the last pieces of clothing were thrown away and their hot bodies fully met that they looked back into each other's eyes, while the rhythm they maintained took their breath away.
The tired, heavy breaths meeting, making the place a lot hotter than it actually was.
Chanyeol wanted to bury his face between Y/N's neck but couldn't look away, even though her hands were scratching his back in a painful way, it didn't matter.
And Y/N had finally given in to the urge to surrender to the immensity of chocolate brown eyes, she found much more than she imagined there.
She hated Park.
She hated his wide and sometimes innocent smile, hated his childish and serious way at the same time, hated his rank and how the uniform made him so irresistible. She hated wanting him so much.
It was there, fully surrendered to her deepest desires, that she realized that the hatred she felt was actually attraction.
As Chanyeol lost himself in Y/N's inner heat, he felt not only his mind being taken over by every inch of her, but also his heart.
He knew that the moment he truly looked at her, without the childish teasing they had, he would find her pure heart.
That would make him fall in love as fast as ice melting in the hot sun.
And now that was it.
There it was not pure and simply carnal attraction, it went further.
And when the two of them reached their climax together, her nails still digging into his skin and him moaning softly in her ear, they realized that the bond between them had grown stronger.
Unique.
They took a deep breath before pulling away, Chanyeol realized that Y/N was restless and about to get up so he hugged her around the waist, bringing her closer.
She made no move to fight it, nor would she have the strength to do so, and she placed her hand on his chest, feeling it rise and fall rapidly.
They stayed like that for a while until they caught their breath and normalized, Chanyeol made abstract designs on her skin as she shamelessly looked at his definite abdomen.
"Thanks."
Y/N felt the back of her neck prickling as she heard his husky voice so close but she stared at him with a raised eyebrow.
"For this?" she looked suggestively at the embracing bodies, drawing a laugh from him.
"Also." he grinned and brought his free hand to the back of his head, making his biceps more evident and drawing Y/N's attention. "For saving me today."
It was her turn to smile.
"It wasn’t a big deal." she shrugged and propped herself up on her elbow to bring her face closer to his. "I think the only person who should shoot you is me, sir." she smiled teasingly and he looked at her sideways.
"You really wish you were that lucky." Chanyeol used his strength and the fact that his body was twice as wide as hers to get her to lie down again. "But I still haven't forgotten all your provocations." He raised his eyebrows and smiled at her.
"You can punish me any time you like, Sergeant."
Three weeks after the first letter arrived, they stopped without warning. I spend hours and hours on end reading the letters that have arrived, searching for the reason they might have stopped, other than the obvious.
Shawn could be dead, and I would have no idea.
So I wrote, a distress signal that I hoped would find Shawn, but it seemingly never did.
In one of the three letters, he described where his camp was, which is where I was marching, barefoot in the dead of the night.
The camp’s many fires were lit, casting an orange glow on the canvas tents.
I shove past soldiers who were talking looking for a specific curly haired one.
A hand wrapped around my wrist, pulling me to look at them.
“Are you lost?” A voice asks. I don’t recognize this man, but he could be useful.
“I’m looking for my husband.” I press a hand to my stomach. “I have news.”
“Congratulations.” The man smiles. “Who’s your husband? I can help you find him.”
“Shawn Mendes.”
“Right this way.”
He leads me to a tent before wishing me luck and leaving.
I breathe out and move through the curtains. Shawn was sitting on the makeshift bed, reading what I recognized as my stationary.
“Shawn?” I ask.
He seems shocked, looking up to see me. “Y/N?”
“I thought you died.” I cry, throwing myself onto him.
His strong arms circle my waist before he speaks. “I’m alright love.”
My tears wet his undershirt as I cry onto his shoulder.
“Why didn’t you write me back?” He asks softly. “I thought we were in love.”
“We are!” I exclaim, pulling back to look at his handsome face. “I would write to you if you wrote to me.”
“I did.” He shakes his head. “I write you a letter every week.”
“I haven’t gotten a letter since the one three weeks ago,” I explain. “I thought that you were killed.”
“I thought that your father picked a husband for you.”
I shake my head. “He wouldn’t.”
Shawn seems puzzled. “If I’ve been sending letters, and you haven’t received them. Where have they been going?”
“Did you mail them to the wrong address?” I ask, standing.
He stands as well, the top of his head touching the ceiling of the tent. “No, I triple-check every time.”
“Maybe the messenger.”
“I pay him extra, he wouldn’t”
“Shawn, you shouldn’t pay extra.” I sigh, placing a hand on his chest.
“You’re a priority, I’d rather your letters and mine be handled with care.”
I shake my head at him.
“Could it be your father?” Shawn asks.
“He was over the moon when the first letter came in, he thought I’d finally found a suitor that would impress him.” I smile at the memory. “I hope you do.”
He smiles softly before going back to brainstorming. “Maybe the soldiers in your house?”
I pause. “That could be it. I’ve been helping a neighbor with her laundry recently, and the messenger boy comes then.”
Shawn’s soft expression hardens a bit. “Do you think they read them?”
“They wouldn’t steal them to not read them.” I sit on his cot, stressed. “That means they know.”
“They do.” He sits next to me, grabbing my hand. “Stay here with me.”
I look over at him.
He was looking at me with adoration in my eyes. “I haven’t seen you in a while, let's make it up.”
I nod. “Okay, I’ll stay.”
Morning comes around and chaos reigns. I awaken to gunfires and Shawn is gone.
I creep out of the tent to see Shawn pressed against a tree, a British soldier aiming his gun at him.
Instinct acts before my brain does as I fly toward the armed man. I ram into his side, setting him off his feet.
I recognize this soldier, he’s one of the few that reside in my house. I assume it’s the one that’s been stealing the letters.
The soldier's eyes lock to mine and he steps forward, his large hand wrapping around my throat. “I knew you were a traitor the moment I met you. Your act fooled your father and the other soldiers but not me, and the letters this young Frenchman has been sending you confirmed it.”
“Your father woke up this morning to find you gone, but what are the odds I knew where you were?” He shakes his head. “Your poor father will be so disgusted when I tell him why I had to kill you.”
I claw at his hand, trying to get free.
I hear a click of a gun and look over at Shawn, as my sight gets blurry, I see Shawn aim a gun his other hand on his side.
When the gun fires, the grip on my neck loosens, then disappears.
I gasp for air, moving quickly to Shawn.
A red patch on his undershirt grows as he falls into my arms.
“Y/N.” He stutters out. “I-I love you.”
“You are not dying right now.” I sniffle, undoing the buttons on his shirt.
He seems loopy, laughing when I press my hand to his wound.
I ignore him and yell for medics.
After a few moments, four other women run towards us, arms full of supplies.
They shoo me, lifting him and taking him away, and at that moment, I allowed myself to cry.
What seems like centuries later, one of the medics retrieves me from Shawn’s tent.
She tries to explain the wound in layman’s terms, but I don’t listen, only wring my hands nervously.
We get to the tent that’s bigger than the rest.
The metallic smell of blood looms in the air as the woman leads me inside.
Shawn was on the other side, the nearest soldier four cots away.
I kneel next to him, watching him rest, his long eyelashes laying on his cheekbones.
The pinkish tones on his cheeks and the rise and fall of his chest is the only thing that signifies the fact he’s alive.
My hand fiddles with his hair, combing out the curls with my fingers.
The corners of his mouth perk up, and his eyes flutter open. “Hello, my love.”
“Hello.” I breathe. “I forgot to tell you something.”
“Which is?”
“I love you, too.”
Dear Sir,
I have been writing your daughter for nearly two months and I adore her from the way she writes to the way she speaks. Your daughter and I have met on a few occasions and just by that I know she is the one I want to marry. She has told me about your avid patriotism and how we wouldn’t get along if we were to meet. As a lieutenant under Lafayette, our views are not eye to eye. Regardless, we both want whatever would make Y/N happy. Sir, even if you are an avid patriot, it would be pleasant for the two of us to meet so I can ask formally for your daughter’s hand in marriage.
Please write me back,
Shawn Mendes
i’m not going to put my tagged list in this one because its part of a series, and also i can’t access my google forms :)))))))))))))))))))))))))

Summary: You're a nurse like any other when you meet Captain Oh Sehun from the korean navy
Next >>
“Hey Y/N.” I turn to face whoever it was who had called me and regretted it when I did.
“Uh, hi Brian…” I threw the coffee cup in the trash, I couldn't even have a coffee in that hospital lately.
"How are you? I haven't seen you in a long time.” he smile at me in a flirtatious way but it didn't do much good. I found it a little too forced.
"You saw me yesterday." I tried to sound not that rude.
"Oh I know but it's so hard to see you out of your shift." That was exactly the intention. "You know you don't have to work that hard, Y/N."
“I know but I love what I do, Dr., you should know better.” I glance around the lobby, hoping any patients would arrive soon so I could get out of there.
Dr. Brian had been trying to ask me out for weeks since he got here and each time I politely declined. According to some nurses, he do that with every woman in the hospital and the roulette stopped in my turn, unfortunately.
To be honest, I was tired of it all, sometimes I wish him to go straight so I could refuse right away.
“I already told you to not to call me Dr., by the way this weekend…” his voice trailed off as a gurney arrived at the ER, catching my attention, and I turn away from Brian as soon as I hear the word surgery.
I ran to the patient, looking quickly at the paramedics who were bringing him.
“What state?” I ask quickly.
“A shot in the left rib, he fell into the sea on impact.” one of them answer and I look at the patient as we carry the stretcher through the hospital.
The first thing I notice was his military uniform, he was from the navy, his face was wet and swollen in places, but that didn't stop me from noticing how handsome he was.
His face was well designed and striking, I was surprise by that, I had already seen several soldiers, mainly from the navy since the hospital was close to where they usually did their activities, but none of them ever had a face so… perfect.
I quickly reach for his chest and ripped his shirt, being able to see the damage the bullet had done to his rib.
“Rosa, we need Dr. Kang. The bullet is lodged in the rib.” I yell as we walk down the hall to the operating room.
"I'm here, Y/N." The Dr. approach and quickly assess the patient.
“He lost a lot of blood, Dr.”
“His lips are turning colorless, he must have drowned. Let's go to the operating room.”
“Sir, this area is forbidden!” I hear one of the nurses speak loudly and look back.
A soldier who came with the patient trying to get into the restricted area. I let Dr. take the patient and went to him.
“It's okay, I'll take over from here. “I told the nurse and went back to facing the tall man. “Sir, this area is reserved.” I try to push him by the chest but he was strong.
"It's my best friend, I have to be there!" I understood the tone of despair and I sympathized.
“I will stand by his side until the end as if I were you, all right?”
He nod and let me close the door, I took a deep breath before running to the operating room.
The night had just begun.
(...)
The surgery had been very long, we had to do a blood transfusion as he lost a lot, other than that we didn't have any extreme complications.
As promised, I stayed on the patient's side the whole time, when everything was under control and the Dr. no longer needed my help, I was holding his hand.
It had been involuntary and it was completely weird, but I was in agony, I knew the risk he was taking, even more because of the amount of blood he lost and also because of the bullet.
It hadn't done much damage, but it was very difficult to remove and required great care.
I hoped he would save himself, such a young guy dying doing his job was too painful.
I asked to take care of his recovery and the Dr. agreed.
For some unknown reason, I felt in my chest that I owed it. Not because I was a nurse and promised his friend, but because I'd be in agony if I didn't hear from him.
The patient spent a few hours in the ICU, just to make sure his health was stable after the surgery. In the meantime, I went to warn his tall friend, who look like he have ants in the hospital chair, as soon as he saw me walking towards him, he got up. Another guy, also in navy uniform, did the same, probably another friend.
“How did he…?”
“Keep calm, he's stable. He lost some blood and we had a transfusion but the surgery went well. Soon he will go to his room.” the two sigh in relief and look at each other, both looking exhaust.
“Thank you so much, Dr.” the taller one approach and shook my hand, swaying quickly.
"I'm just the nurse, sir." I smile. "Sorry, the doctor had another emergency surgery, she don't have time to come talk to you."
“You stayed with him like you promised, didn't you?” he ask and I nod. “I'm Chanyeol, by the way, this is Kai. We’re friends with Sehun.” I was so worried about the patient that I didn't even remember to get his file, I still don't know anything about him.
“Nice to meet you, gentlemen.” I was still unsure what to call them.
"Chanyeol still talks like we're 18-year-olds, even though we have titles in the navy." Kai say.
"I still haven't gotten used to being called a soldier outside the base." Chanyeol defend himself and I hold back a laugh. They look like children.
"I just don't want to offend either of you."
"Oh don't worry, we don't really care about that." Kai shrugg.
“Actually, we even like to be called by name.” Chanyeol smirk.
“Well, Chanyeol and Kai, I can imagine how tired you are, so I will advise you to go home and come back later.” the two look at each other for a minute, I knew they had considered that option.
“We appreciate the concern but we will stay, he would do the same for us.” Kai spoke at last.
"I'll let you know when he wakes up, but now I have to go." I say after watching someone else get on a stretcher.
"What is your name?" Chanyeol ask quickly as I start to walk away.
“Y/N.”
“Thanks, Y/N.” they smile at me and for the first time in a while, that warmed my heart.
They were being sincere and no money in the world could pay that.
Sehun was lucky to have loyal friends like that, I hope he knew that.
And if he was as kind as the two of them, my job would be so much easier.
I found myself wondering what his voice was like, if his eyes were so warm and sincere.
I shook my head, pushing away all the nagging thoughts, I couldn't be dreaming about a patient right now, no matter what I felt in that operating room, it had to be a professional.
It was just what I needed now, to have a crush with a simple patient.
(...)
I start reading Sehun's file as I walk to his room, he had already left ICU, leaving his friends unconcerned.
I got caught by surprise, I mean 30 years with that face? And Captain of the Navy? How was that possible, a rank like that meant something to someone at that age, I thought.
He was still sleeping when I enter, which was really nice considering I couldn't stop staring at him. The information on his file was shocking, I tried to find it all in his face but he looked so serene it was hard to see it.
He was a Captain!
I approach so I could clean and re-bandage his rib, seeing the small stitches on his skin made me have a strange feeling in my heart but I ignore it and did my job.
Still shocked by his file, I look back at his face again and try to imagine him as captain. Seeing him in a uniform wasn't all that shocking, but to think that his position was so higher and full of responsibility was hard to understand.
It was then that I notice some scars and marks, he had a very small one on his face and I even found it charming, on his chest there was a long but low scar near his heart and soon he would have the rib on the same side, already on his arm there were a few, one on his bicep and one just above his wrist.
I hadn't notice that my hand was following my gaze, I only notice when Sehun's hand held my wrist, stopping me from caressing his skin.
I try to get away but I couldn't, he was very strong.
"It tickles." he smile with his eyes still closed, I keep silent, maybe he thought it was a dream and went back to sleep. Sehun open his eyes and stare at the ceiling for a while, until he look back at me. I felt a shiver down my spine at the exchange of eyes that seemed to last forever, and yet it didn't seem to be enough. "I died?" he ask after a long time, still staring at me.
“W-what?”
“I must have died, this looks like heaven. You're definitely an angel.” he spoke and I felt my cheeks burn.
Okay, he must have been delirious from the meds.
“Um, you're fine and in the hospital. I'm just your... nurse. Do you remember anything?” I ask and look at his hand that was still holding me, he did the same and when he notice, he let go.
I wished he hadn't.
"Sorry, that's force of habit." he point at my fist. “I remember breaking into the ship, fighting some masked guys, getting shot and then I fell into the water.” I shook my head as he spoke. "And my head hurts like hell."
"Probably because of the impact with the water... I'll call your friends, they're out there very worried." I point to the door and walk towards it.
"Oh, you really need to do this because I have to go to the bathroom."
I got the message and even if it was part of my job, I just couldn't help him with that part.
(...)
Sehun had been in the hospital for just over 5 days, his recovery was going well and faster than usual, he was a soldier after all. Being a captain, he was very funny, he made fun of me every time I needed to change his bandage, but he was also very stubborn.
Because of his condition, it was recommended to rest as much as he could so that the stitches wouldn’t open. However, Sehun didn't agree with the medical report, he thought that just because the bullet was out of his body, he was already great to go back to base.
Well, all this generated a great deal of confusion, involving calls from admirals and higher positions.
But that didn't stop him from standing beside the bed in the bedroom when I arrived.
“Captain, how many times should I say you need to stay in bed?” I hurry to get to him and stop him from continuing.
"Relax doll, I just needed to stretch my legs." I put my hand on his back and he put his arm around my shoulders, I try to ignore the nickname he had given me.
“Already stretched, now go back to bed.”
“On second thought, I really wanted to go to the coffee shop. Kai can't stop talking about how wonderful the coffee is.” I lift my face to face him and he smile like a child.
"You have a healthy diet for your recovery Captain, I don't think coffee is included."
"Oh please Y/N, I'll be back and forth quickly." he try not to lean on me anymore but ended up tripping over his own feet.
“Sehun!” I say loudly and hurry to catch him before he fell.
The act made his body lean on the bed, I end up losing my balance and had to lean on something. And that was his chest.
With him propped up on the bed, his height got closer to mine, making our faces get too close together.
It was like his eyes hypnotized me, I just couldn't pull away and look anywhere else but his eyes. They were intense, captivating and irresistible. And that was very dangerous.
Sehun's eyes scan my entire face until they stop at my lips, where he linger long enough for me to understand what was about to happen.
Seconds dragged slowly through eternity and it was only interrupted when a screeching sound began to play, I shook my head and turn away to face whatever it was. I notice then that it was Sehun's heartbeat, he was still being monitored by hospital rules and it was way too fast.
“Uh… I need to change your bandage.” I speak softly as scratch the back of my head without having the courage to look into his eyes.
It wouldn't be an easy task after that moment, as I would have to face his bare chest.
"That's funny." He say after a long time, while I was still working on his wound, if he stay quiet could probably get the stitches out tomorrow.
"What is funny?"
"You’re embarrased of me." he laugh.
“Yah what are you talking about? I’m not ashamed.” I reply too quickly.
“Do you find me that attractive?” I look at his face and raise his eyebrows as he smirk. "Ouch!" he complain and I pull my hands away. I hadn't even done anything. "That hurts." he pout and I roll my eyes.
“Are all soldiers like that?”
"Like that?" I finish and walk away.
“Cry babies when it comes to the hospital.” I took out all the things I had gotten out of the way, including my gloves, and arranged the sheet on him.
“Who are you calling a cry baby? I fight valiantly every day on a ship to save civilians from threats and not…” Sehun try to point his finger at me but all he manage to do was knock him on the bed. “Oh, oh, oh.” he hold his finger and in a very dramatic way began to mumble.
"I think that answers your question." I laugh.
"It's not fair, you didn't answer mine." I look at him and wait for him to continue. "Do you find me attractive?"
"I'll bring your dinner, Captain." I leave the room before my expressions respond, not before I can hear him laugh and then complain.
I didn't want it to be so obvious or else it would be pretty hard to work with him every day while he had that advantage over me.
After I had taken the tray with Sehun's diet and walk back to the room, seeing Kai and Chanyeol outside, both of them with their arms folded.
“Why are you out here? Sehun has been awake for hours.” I say as I approached and could see the frightened expressions of the two. "What happened? Have you seen a ghost?”
“Our boss is inside.” Chanyeol reply, visibly terrify.
“Your boss?”
“The Fleet Admiral.” I had to grip the tray tighter after Kai speak. All right, I didn't know the entire hierarchy of the Navy but I knew that the Admiral was the highest position and that if he was there it was because something had happened.
I took a deep breath before asking one of them to open the door for me, they both look at me shock but I need to do my job, knowing that none of them would follow me I walk in slowly, receiving several looks as soon as the door was closed.
"Um, it's dinner time." I announce and pass the Admiral's side, now I understood why Chanyeol was terrified, that man was scary.
Two soldiers accompanied the Admiral.
I pull the base that was on the bed so I could put the tray on top.
"Well, that's all, Captain." the Admiral say and I was more afraid of his voice, it was cold and hard.
"Yes sir." Sehun reply and I adjust the pillows so that it would be better to eat.
"Nurse?" the Admiral call me and I look quickly.
"Yes?"
“When will he be discharged?”
“Due to the fast recovery, tomorrow he will take the stitches out and he can go” I reply and he just shook his head.
"Kim and Park will see to it that you return to base."
"Yes sir." Sehun nod and salute before the Admiral left along with the soldiers. “Oh, my heart is beating too fast.” he sigh and I look at him worriedly.
"Need something?"
“A hug would be nice.” he smile and I roll my eyes.
“Eat.” I order and he grumble, but did what I say.
“Did something happen for the Admiral to come here?” I ask after a long time of silence. I’m a nurse but was still curious. For the first time, he was silent and avoid looking at me. “Okay, I understand that it's confidential, I've dealt with soldiers before, you know? But if you can't talk, it's okay..."
"Go out with me." he interrupt me and I felt my jaw drop.
"What?"
"Let's go on a date." His expression was too serious and I began to doubt that this was a joke.
"Your medicine must be working..." I laugh softly but he remain serious. "Oh, are you serious?" he nod and my legs start to shake.
"Unless you have a boyfriend, which would be a shame since I haven't laid eyes on you sooner." Sehun keep his expression serious but his tone was joking.
“If I accept, will you stop flirting with me?” not that I thought it was bad, quite the opposite, I was just embarrassed.
"Only when I conquer you." assure and I roll my eyes, he was already getting it anyway.
“Tell me the day and time.”

<< Previous
Y/N didn't know what was happening to her.
Surely Chanyeol had some kind of spell, it wasn't possible to be so attached to him in such a short time.
After they spent time having fun and he fell asleep right away, mouth open in a way that Y/N found extremely cute and it took all her strength not to kiss him, she got dressed and left. before anyone knew what they had done inside the base.
Well, technically there wasn't a rule against dating in the division, but sleeping together could get some trouble and she wanted to keep anyone from knowing.
Chanyeol was the Sergeant, it was in his nature to take responsibility for his soldiers to himself and if he did, who knows what punishment they would give. She didn't want to risk his entire career because they both succumbed to a desire they hadn't known they felt until then.
But she had to internally fight with herself not to go back and admire him while she slept. Chanyeol was so serene, so peaceful, that she wanted her body to be filled with the same sensation.
And that was the weirdest thing, because it felt like all the hatred she thought she felt for Park had evaporated. And she blamed his kisses.
She felt like she was at his mercy, as if he somehow controlled every inch of her body he'd touched.
Should it be like this?
They were spending a night together and she missed him like that?
So she decided to pretend that nothing had happened when breakfast was served. She would act as usual in front of the entire division, as if Park weren't there. It would be much easier and not arouse suspicion.
Well, that's what she told herself, but the reality was actually different.
As soon as she arrived at the refectory, Chanyeol was sitting with some soldiers and his gaze found her the exact moment she set foot inside. Y/N felt a shiver all over her body when their eyes met and she got mad at herself, it wasn't the first time they looked at each other so why did it seem like it was? Why was her heart beating so fast and her hands sweating?
But she had to swallow hard and take a deep breath when she picked up her tray and saw Chanyeol smile slightly, as if he asked her to sit with him. She even took a step forward but when she saw that some colleagues were staring at her, she backed away and went to the farthest table she could find, biting the inside of her cheek to contain the urge to look at him.
The entire breakfast Y/N felt Chanyeol staring at her from the table she was at and she hoped he wouldn't get up and go to her, or else she wouldn't be able to pretend that everything was still the same as before.
Because it wasn't.
Being watched by him and feeling her heart want to jump out of her mouth, she was sure from now on it would be hard to act like she hated Park.
She left in record time without looking back, even though she wanted to spy on him quickly, and went to do whatever would make her forget about Chanyeol momentarily.
While Chanyeol somehow tried to understand what had happened, he didn't even pay attention to what his friends were saying. Okay, waking up alone in bed hadn't been a surprise but it wasn't like he could say he hadn't been disappointed.
He hoped things would be different now.
Of course, he wasn't going to go out and tell the entire division that he'd slept with her but they didn't really hate each other, last night was proof enough so maybe they could at least have a friendly relationship.
But his hopes evaporated the very moment she pretended he didn't exist in the refectory.
He had even smiled at her in front of everyone!
No soldier had ever seen this before.
Chanyeol didn't even feel like finishing his breakfast, he crumpled the water bottle with one hand as he got up to find the commander, he would have to let go of the problem he created with Y/N. That he would resolve later.
Missions came first.
After talking to the commander and receiving praise for the successful rescue mission, Chanyeol was leaving the room when he was stopped by the general's secretary who had come to the base to greet Park and learn more details about what intelligence had discovered about the terrorists.
“It was impressive, Sergeant, the General was in awe of your work.” she smiled widely at him, who returned a little more sheepishly.
He'd already heard praises and although he was happy that he'd done his job right, he still had a problem that was causing him headaches.
One he couldn't avoid forever and made him unable to remember the name of the beautiful young woman in front of him.
“Thanks but I just did my duty.” he replied politely while supporting his body weight on his other leg.
He didn't want to be rude, so he didn't know how to cut the short conversation that only the secretary was excited about.
"If you want, I can keep praising you to the General, he is usually very generous." she offered, causing him to raise an eyebrow and saw her step forward to rest her hand on his arm. “But I would like something in return.”
Chanyeol had to control his shocked expression.
It wasn't uncommon for women to flirt with him, even more so when he wore his army uniform, but no one had been that daring inside the base. I mean, they were still in the hallway, anyone walking within five meters could hear.
He was so busy trying to extricate himself from the woman in a polite way that he didn't notice Y/N watching them from afar.
She was far enough away that she couldn't hear what they were saying but she wasn't blind, much less stupid, she could see in the woman's face that she was blatantly flirting with Chanyeol. In fact, she could understand exactly what she wanted from him just from her body language.
And since he had his back to Y/N, she couldn't see his confused expression, just the annoying caress the woman was giving his arm.
Annoyingly slow and teasing, it made Y/N clench her jaw to keep from letting the angry growl that wanted to escape.
The scene was getting on her nerves and for a moment Y/N wished she had her knife, from the position she was in she would easily hit that mischievous and insolent smile of the woman.
Y/N only realized that she was staring at the scene for a long time when she felt the short nails hurt her palms and disguised it when she saw that the commander was approaching Chanyeol, this made the woman who was talking to him move away quickly, saying goodbye so fast and disappearing like a figure.
Y/N was about to leave when the commander stared at her and called out, she took a deep breath before approaching.
She saluted and looked only at the commander, ignoring Chanyeol completely, she felt her blood bubbling in anger.
"I need you east of here, we've discovered some landmines and someone has to flag them." he ordered and the two were silent.
The two of them together for who knows how long? Excellent!
Y/N wanted to question and even beg the commander to find someone else, anyone but Park, but the soldier side won out and she silently accepted.
The commander left and Chanyeol turned to talk to her, but Y/N was already striding away from him.
“So it's like that? Are you going to pretend I don't exist?" he reached it, it wouldn't even take much effort with his long legs.
"I don’t know what you're talking about." she replied, still looking straight ahead as she went to get her equipment with him by her side.
"You're a terrible liar." he laughed, making the sound echo down the hall and Y/N felt an anxiety in the pit of his stomach.
Apparently he wouldn't give up, let alone shut up.
"Get lost, Park." she huffed and increased the pace of her steps, sensing that he stopped halfway.
Not because he didn't want to understand, but because he would have to take the opposite path to the garage. Chanyeol took a deep breath as he watched her walk heavily and told himself to be patient, they would have the rest of the day to talk and he knew how to pressure her into talking.
Even because it was clear that something was bothering her.
Y/N grabbed her weapons and sunglasses, she knew the next few hours would be pure torture. Being by his side and controlling her hormones would be a nearly impossible task, but she would have to resist.
She went to the garage, knowing he was there, and found him leaning against the jeep, arms crossed as he looked around. Y/N swallowed hard at the sight of his larger biceps.
He was a soldier, he shouldn't be so attractive doing absolutely nothing!
She ignored Chanyeol's smirk as she approached and climbed into the jeep with unnecessary force, gritted her teeth as she heard him laugh.
Of course, he would keep teasing her. After all, that was their game.
Chanyeol got in the car and in a short time they left the base, following the instructions on the gps.
Chanyeol was silent the entire way, which Y/N found strange but the fact that she looked at the landscape beside him and avoided contact with him helped. He knew which strategy to use so he would make her think he'd just given up.
Even if it wasn't true.
He parked on the side of the road and went out to get the equipment from the trunk of the car while Y/N got out of the car, surveying the scene.
It wouldn't be a very easy job, there was only grass and very high, she didn't know what radius they should work and if it was big, who knows how many mines they could have. They could spend all day there.
Chanyeol came back with equipment in hand and some flares, holding it out to Y/N who took it without facing him.
He laughed once more and shook his head before approaching the grounds, with the equipment on, followed in silence by her.
Y/N I didn't understand why a drone couldn't do that job, it would be much easier and even simpler to blow them up and make the terrain safer.
But she didn't have enough power to question, just obey and that's what she did for the next few hours.
The sunglasses helped hide the times she stared at Chanyeol, he was concentrating and Sergeant's pose was there, making him completely irresistible.
The job would be more difficult than she had imagined.
However, although the situation between them was delicate, both knew how to act like true soldiers.
They took a break and went back to the jeep to breathe a little, write down how many mines were flagged and drink some water, the weather was much warmer and they were sweating from having walked so much.
Chanyeol stared at her undisguisedly as she downed the entire bottle in one gulp, she looked anywhere but at him.
"You know, you won't be able to run away all your life." he spoke and crossed his arms, waiting for her to turn to face him. What didn’t happen.
"Watch." she replied softly and prepared to walk away, but Chanyeol held her arm gently.
Red alert, bodies were slightly closer.
“What did I do to make you act like that?” he asked sincerely and as much as a part of him was angry that Y/N would even look him in the face, the other part was upset.
"You exist, Park, that's enough." she replied, feeling her heart beat even faster at the proximity.
Even she didn't understand why she was so angry, but the scene of the woman caressing his arm couldn't get out of her head no matter how hard she tried.
She just didn't expect him to take her sunglasses off in the blink of an eye that made her stare at him in surprise, he tucked them into his pocket.
“Look into my eyes and tell me the truth.” he asked and Y/N hesitated for a moment, she wasn't prepared for his calm tone.
In fact, she was avoiding looking into his eyes precisely because she knew she would give in.
"It is the truth!" she spoke a little louder. "If you weren't so… you, things would be so much easier." she complained, seeing him frown in a cute way.
"What does that mean?" confused. He was completely confused.
Y/N got even angrier, she didn't know if he was pretending to be innocent or if he didn't even have the slightest idea what was going on.
“It means I won't fall for your cheap seduction tricks anymore just to be another one on your list, you can look for another one.” she laughed, without humor. “By the way, I think you already found it, don't you?” she accused with a sour taste in her mouth, watching him blink nonstop.
It was as if all the gears in Chanyeol's brain were working slowly until he remembered the flirtation he'd received from the woman earlier that day and then he felt a click.
Wait a moment…
"You’re jealous?" he asked, trying to hide his smile, seeing Y/N open her mouth a few times to answer, but no sound came out and he had to control the urge to kiss her.
She laughed, disbelieving the question and the fact that her body was screaming yes.
"Me jealous? Of you? Keep dreaming, Park." she tried to convince him but Chanyeol grinned when he saw that he was right.
She was moving her hands frantically and her eyes were staring anywhere but his eyes, that's why he let go of her arm and brought his hand up to her chin, lifting it so she could really look at him.
"You don't have to be ashamed to admit that you're jealous." he spoke with a twinkle in his eye. "It means you don't hate me as much as you say."
It was exactly that kind of thing that Y/N was afraid of, admitting that she was jealous of Park and hinted that she had feelings for him. Feelings which made her vulnerable.
But Chanyeol liked knowing that he messed with her that way, because for the last few hours all he wanted to do was awaken in her what had already awakened inside him last night.
They couldn't ignore it, act like nothing had changed because he could see in her eyes that it had.
"I hate, with all my might." she replied not as confidently as the last times she'd said that.
In addition to lying to Chanyeol, she wanted to lie to herself. Maybe she could convince herself.
He brought their bodies even closer, now touching each other completely, lowered his face enough to stare at her so deeply that Y/N suddenly became serious.
"It wasn't what it felt like when you were in my arms last night."
Well, she couldn't argue with that.
Her only response was silence, although her eyes answered what Chanyeol needed to know. Y/N focused all her attention on his lips and completely ignored the pain in the back of her neck from looking at him for so long.
Although it felt like an eternity had passed for the two of them, it was seconds before Chanyeol pulled her by the back of her head and kissed her intensely, as hot as the sun, the way he'd wanted to do since who had woken up.
He hadn't had enough of her taste.
Y/N sighed during the kiss and brought a hand to the back of his head, squeezing it tightly as Chanyeol wrapped an arm around her waist and lifted her slightly off the floor, while looking for a place to support her.
Chanyeol placed her on top of the jeep's hood as the kiss became more intense, their tongues meeting again as a shiver went through both of their bodies, Y/N took the opportunity to wrap her legs around his waist as both hands went to the back of his neck to make a caress that didn't match the moment, now with their faces at the same height he could take his large hands to her waist while she bit his lower lip.
Angry and lust at the same time.
But Chanyeol didn't have the patience for that kind of teasing, he needed to feel their lips and breaths coming together, so he took a hand to Y/N's hair tied back and made her start a new kiss completely forgetting where they were and what were doing.
Y/N had this power over Chanyeol, when she had her small hands on his body he forgot everything, his rank, his missions, even his own name.
But when he took one of his hands under her uniform shirt, Y/N pulled away leaning their foreheads and heard a complaint from him.
She wanted to say that they should stop, that this wasn’t the place to do that even more while they were on duty. This is the smartest and most rational thing to do, and the hardest considering that Chanyeol was staring at her intensely.
All he wanted was to be with her again.
"We shouldn't…" she started but was interrupted by his thumb, which caressed her lips in a subtle way, silencing her instantly.
"I'm tired of pretending this isn't good, I'm tired of acting like I'm not feeling this for you."
"This what?" she asked, seeing him smile.
“This desire to have you all to myself.” he confessed without guilt and Y/N felt like her heart was in a rampant rhythm.
“Are you asking me out on a date, Park?” she joked, trying not to show how much it had affected her.
“What if I am?”
Oh holy shit. This she didn't expect it.
Although she had never heard dirty rumors about Chanyeol during the entire period she was in the division, she didn't know if she could trust him. I mean, he could be like any other man who only thinks about sleeping with a woman and forgets about feelings.
Even if she thought that sort of thing didn't suit him.
“I think we'd better get back to work.” She changed the subject and moved her legs away from his body, feeling a strange cold. “We still have half the ground to signal.” she warned and jumped off the hood of the car, seeing that he remained in place, his hands dropping to his sides.
At least he'd managed to say what he felt, whether or not Y/N would accept it was another conversation, but he wasn't going to pretend to hate her anymore when he was clearly attracted to her. Of course, that scenario was as unpredictable for him as it was for her, but knowing his position and that at any moment circumstances could change, he would be honest. Even if it took a while for her to decide.
Chanyeol knew she would think about it.
And he was right, when they got back to work all Y/N thought was that maybe he was serious.
It was as if she had a little angel and a little devil on either side of her shoulder.
The little angel said to trust Chanyeol, that he was a decent man.
Already the devil said to enjoy his little body while she could, but without getting emotionally involved.
She shook her head several times as if she was scaring them both away. She was in a place full of landmines, she couldn't worry about that now!
When they finished successfully, surprisingly the radio was calm and they weren’t called for any mission, it was already starting to get dark. They walked back to the jeep in silence and Chanyeol put the equipment away while Y/N climbed into the passenger side, although it was common for soldiers to take turns driving, she wasn't interested.
Her head was spinning and seemed to be heavy with the amount of doubts surrounding her, she just wanted to go back to base and take a shower so she could sleep as soon as possible.
Only then did Park not dominate her life, when she slept soundly.
It was no surprise to him actually, that didn't say anything, just drove.
However, watching the road rather than the woman beside her, he noticed that a pair of headlights didn't disappear between the exits. It made him alert.
[...]
"They're following us." he warned quietly, glancing in the rearview mirror.
Y/N looked at him at the same instant, her neck even made a noise. She watched Chanyeol's serious expression and realized that this was no joke, looked in her own rearview mirror and saw that a black car kept a safe distance from the jeep, but didn't make a point of overtaking even though the road was empty for that.
She took the gun out of her leg holster and left it down, without making much movement the car behind wouldn't suspect.
"If they get too close, I shoot." she warned and saw him nod in agreement as his eyes roamed the road. “Do you think they’re the same as those from that terrorist cell?”
“I don't doubt it. We killed six of them, they must be very upset.” he replied. “The commander said that all that weaponry has already been removed from the hut, they’re completely aimless.”
“This is what happens when your leader is an idiot for thinking that kidnapping an army commander is a good idea.” Y/N almost laughed machiavellian. They got what they deserved. "Even because-"
She was interrupted when shots were fired at the jeep and the two instinctively lowered it.
“Oh fuck.” Y/N grumbled loudly and unlocked the gun, adjusting better to the floor to be safe enough to fight back.
Chanyeol accelerated the car even more, with his head down, and he was huffing in anger.
Okay, that had now become personal.
“Can you shoot?” he asked as rocked the car back and forth to try to dodge the bullets.
He glanced at her, who smirked.
“It stabilizes the car for two seconds and I shoot.” she warned and prepared to get up high enough to hit the car.
Chanyeol nodded and another hail of shots came, one ending up hitting Chanyeol's rearview mirror who swore loudly. He did as Y/N said and she fired three times, hitting the car's bumper and glass which she noticed was armored.
“Shit, the car is armored.” she bent down again and her head started to think of another strategy.
“They’re slightly smarter. Two shooting.” he warned and she nodded, turned her head to survey the road.
"On the next corner I want you to turn the car completely until I'm facing, I'm going to shoot the tires."
Chanyeol looked at her worriedly as soon as he understood the plan.
It might work, but she would be vulnerable, an easy target for terrorists.
Y/N noticed that he was reluctant and prepared to shoot one more time.
“Do as I say!” she ordered and got up again to shoot, she didn't want to hit, she just wanted to pretend that was the strategy until she caught them off guard.
He nodded and accelerated even more, until he was at a good distance from the terrorists, Y/N prepared to use the 4 remaining bullets and saw Chanyeol turn the car quickly, she was already in position when the car kept turning and she lost her balance, falling down on the bench.
Chanyeol started to walk backwards and took the gun out of the holster, before she could complain he shot several times in the tires until the bullets hit and the car started to go out of control and flipped.
He turned the car again and accelerated as an explosion happened behind them, with his eyes fixed on the road he put the gun away and took the communicator out of his pocket, not facing Y/N who was completely shocked.
Park had saved her life?
If Y/N had a headache before, now then she could say that even medicine wouldn't do any good.
Chanyeol notified the accident on the road and they stopped just ahead while waiting for the army to arrive so they could explain what had actually happened, everything would be investigated by intelligence and after a few hours the commander dismissed them to go to the base.
Both safe, no injuries.
They came back with the jeep, it hadn't been that damaged but it would have to be stopped to fix it, in complete silence and seriousness.
Chanyeol would take care of the paperwork, it was part of his rank, so he went ahead controlling the urge to hug Y/N that was still in shock. He wanted to make sure she was really safe and well.
She couldn't take her eyes off Chanyeol, she wanted to understand what had happened and why he had acted that way.
Unconsciously she followed him and when she noticed that he wouldn't say anything, as soon as he entered his room she felt a feeling of deja vu but entered without knocking.
"What's it?" he asked, seeing her standing in the doorway with a frown.
Cute, he thought.
"What's it?" she asked, her voice low and shaky. "What's it?! I’m the one asking you, what was that?” she pointed back and saw him lower his lip as he grimaced.
“That what?”
“Park!” she complained, bracing her hands on her hips. "You didn't go according to plan."
He shrugged before answering.
"Your plan was flawed." he explained calmly, seeing her jaw drop.
He had to confess, it was even funny seeing her like that.
“My plan was not flawed!” she defended.
“You would be too exposed, too vulnerable.” he took a step forward and she opened her mouth to retort but he held up his hand. “You had a pistol while they had long guns and who knows how many clips.”
“Worth the risk.”
“No, it wasn't worth it.” he took another step and was now facing her, a few meters away, looking her in the eye. “Because I wasn't going to risk your life like that. I am the Sergeant, I made the right decision to maintain your integrity.”
Chanyeol had saved her life, they were even. Now the debt was paid.
"You just did it to show you're skilled." she complained crossing her arms after staring at him for a while, had lost focus for a second.
He smiled and Y/N felt her heart warm in a strange way.
“I did it because I can't deal with the idea of losing you. I did it to protect you.” he admitted.
It made her quiet.
It was the second time that day he'd confessed and she could tell she was getting used to it, even enjoying it.
I mean, all her arguments against Park were now invalid.
She didn't even find him so petty or cocky, in fact she had realized how considerate and responsible he was.
How ironic, she needed to sleep with him to realize that. All this time of bickering and teasing to realize that she actually didn't hate him.
On impulse, Y/N hugged him tight and awkwardly as the height difference didn't help, he was taken by surprise but reciprocated by burying his face in her neck.
Adrenaline was something that had always been a part of their lives, but that night, just the fact that they had faced alone and at a disadvantage with a terrorist group, which could have easily hit one of them, hurt to think about it.
Y/N confessed, she'd been scared after the adrenaline went down.
"Why that?" he asked against her skin, and she smiled involuntarily, she couldn't even control it when his hot breath hit her neck.
“To thank you for saving me today.” she replied and felt him pull his face away enough to look at her.
“You can say thank you in another way.” he shrugged and stared at her lips. Y/N moistened her own with her tongue before reaching over to place a gentle kiss on his lips.
She sighed and closed her eyes, giving herself completely to that moment when she assured herself that Chanyeol was there, taking away any trace of fear.
He kissed her in the same way, sweet and soft, feeling his heart beat faster and faster as he lifted her off the floor and one of his hands went to the back of her neck to keep the rhythm calm.
That night, they didn't need to rush things. They could discover each other more deeply.
Chanyeol was happy to have her in his arms again, after the scare of the night, it was all he needed. And Y/N was giving in, how could she keep her walls up after what he'd done?
As they pulled away, Chanyeol smiled widely and saw Y/N's cheeks turn red that he thought was extremely cute.
It was amazing how she was the deadliest sniper in the division, it even seemed incompatible that she had her cute side.
"That's not quite what I had in mind." he spoke, seeing her frown and tilt her head to her side, not understanding. "I meant that you could reciprocate by answering me."
"What?"
"If you want to be my girlfriend."
Y/N let her face turn into complete joy, she no longer had to hide that he made her heart flutter or her legs shake.

"You and Park tricked me." Y/N raised her head upon hearing the last name, found Jin sitting in front of her as he placed the tray with food on the table.
"I don't know what you're talking about." she tried to play dumb as she felt her heart flutter at the memory of him.
“You two are dating!”
"Well actually…" she took a deep breath, it was still weird having to admit it out loud and a part of her was afraid. Afraid because things were going too well. "We're just together." she shrugged and saw her colleague raise his eyebrows.
"It's the same thing." he replied and she opened her mouth to reply but he continued. "I knew all that hate you said you felt was just repressed sexual tension." Y/N took the napkin and threw it at Jin, who laughed like a child.
"I can't wait for you to get a girlfriend soon and leave me alone." she replied and Jin mocked her.
“People in love tend to want others to experience the same thing.”
"Shut up." Y/N rolled her eyes theatrically. She knew her colleague was doing this to annoy her and she wouldn't play that game.
“By the way, where is Park?”
The Sergeant immediately entered the commander's office, had been called in emergency to talk to the superior and imagined that it would be about investigations into terrorist cells in the region, after they had been pursued, the army had made it a priority to find out everything what they could about the group.
“Park, sit down.” the superior spoke after he saw the soldier salute.
Chanyeol obeyed, fearfully. The conversation was serious then.
“How is your relationship with Y/N?”
Chanyeol pondered, it had come as a surprise to most of his army mates but it was no longer news that he and Y/N were dating.
Half the division had been shocked when they'd shown up together the day after the attack, laughing at each other like never before, side by side. Chanyeol needed a lot of self-control not to hug her around the waist, because his whole body was asking for it at every moment. But he knew the division's limits and he wouldn't do that, not in front of the soldiers.
The other half was confused, including some recruits that Park used to train and who had witnessed the various fights between the two. He knew that the gossip had reached his superiors' ears so he hadn't notified what was happening between them, it was personal so it shouldn't matter to anyone, he didn't imagine that this was a matter of extreme importance when there were no rules against relationships between soldiers at the base.
"Good, sir." he replied simply and saw the superior take a deep breath.
“Do you know she is an orphan?” Chanyeol nodded in agreement. "Well, our intelligence discovered the whereabouts of Y/N's father."
Chanyeol controlled the urge to smile.
This must be good, she could finally make peace with her past, it would definitely take a huge weight off her back.
“Were they investigating Y/N?” he asked cautiously and saw the superior deny it.
“You know Choi Seung?”
"The politician?" Chanyeol asked and the superior nodded, making him frown. “Wasn't he being investigated for corruption? He was arrested."
The superior laughed in disbelief.
“He got a good judge to overturn the case a few years ago, he was missing until the latest terrorist attacks.”
Chanyeol wished he didn't understand what the superior was talking about because if that's what he imagined, the situation would get a lot more complicated than it should have.
“Does he finance?” he asked bluntly knowing he wouldn't like the answer.
“No, Park. He is one of the leaders.”
Holy crap.
It wasn't such bad news from a strategic point of view for the army, now they knew who the enemy really was and they could go after him if it weren't for one detail.
“But what does Y/N have to do with it?” he questioned, seeing the superior look away for a brief moment.
“It was as much of a surprise to me as it will be to you.” Chanyeol raised an eyebrow waiting for him to continue. "Choi is Y/N's father."
Oh.
That wasn't bad.
It was a catastrophe.
Chanyeol clasped his hands together as he blinked non-stop trying to digest the news.
“How did you… find out?” he needed to know the details but didn't know if really wanted to.
How would he break this kind of news to her?
“After he was released from prison, we’re closely watching every step of him. One of our undercover agents found out that Choi knew that the woman he had been involved with in the past had given birth to a child, as there are no secrets in that region it wasn’t difficult for him to find Y/N's mother's acquaintances and find out what happened to the kid. Choi is very interested in keeping his group in the region where Y/N was born, it's an area near the border with humble people, he's influential. Choi informed that he has personal matters to resolve with the army.”
Chanyeol took a deep breath. If Choi knew it was only a matter of time before he tried to contact Y/N, he would come after her.
“Who will tell her? You or me?”
“No, that kind of information cannot get out.” Chanyeol frowned.
"Don't you want her to know?" he understood the superior's strategy but that was her story, a story she had no idea about, so he didn't agree with the decision.
“It's not just that, Park. If we tell Y/N, who's guarantee she won't go after her father and join him?"
"I do!" Chanyeol responded firmly. That was absurd, she would never join a terrorist group because she found out that her father is the leader.
No, Y/N didn't have that kind of character.
She could have all her flaws and well, he'd already seen the worst side of her, but she would never do that. The army was her life.
“It's safer for her and for everyone else. That's an order, Park.” he decreed and Chanyeol was silent.
Every cell in his body screamed at him for the first time to disobey a direct order because he knew it was wrong but the position he was in wasn’t at all comfortable.
He was in love with Y/N and was her superior, knowing that it could impact her life in an irreversible way.
How could he hide vital information like that from her?
[...]
“Park, are you listening to me?” Y/N asked loudly, seeing the boy blink a few times and turn his attention to her.
"What?"
She sighed, Chanyeol had been airy and distracted for weeks, many times in training he didn't even pay attention to the soldiers' exercises. Chanyeol was absent-minded but not when he worked, when the sergeant pose appeared he was so meticulous with every little detail it was boring.
And Y/N was watching him more than she should have? Probably.
"Since your last meeting with the commander you've been like this." she commented and felt his hand caress her arm.
They were at the cinema, far from the base, on the first break they were able to take together, and yet he wasn't there.
"It's your impression." he commented and saw her curl her lip. He couldn't help but think about what he knew when he was by her side, he felt a wave of guilt take over his entire body.
“You’re the first to say that there are no coincidences.”
"Because it’s truth."
"And yet you want to convince me that it's just a coincidence that you've been distracted since then?" Y/N was stubborn and he knew she wouldn't accept that short answer from him.
"I think you've forgotten how a movie theater works." he brought his mouth to her ear and whispered, making her smile discreetly as she looked at him out of the corner of her eye.
Park was avoiding the subject, but it wasn't just because they were in the theater waiting for the movie to start that she was going to forget.
One day he would speak, she would find a way to extract what she wanted to know.
"I'll get more chocolate." she warned and moved away, feeling her body ask for contact to be reestablished.
It was common now, she was used to being physically closer to him.
She didn't want to act like a silly in love teenager, so she convinced herself that 5 minutes wouldn't hurt.
She would buy the chocolates and get back before the movie started and the lights went out.
That was the plan and she was doing fine, just waited for the attendant to get the bars she had chosen.
"Y/N?" she turned when heard her name coming from a voice she didn't even know and was more confused when saw the face.
A much older man than she had ever seen.
Discreetly, she brought her right hand up to the waistband of her pants where her personal weapon was.
Should she be cautious? Yes.
Would she distrust anyone? Ever.
"May I help?" she replied, her expression not at all bland.
"It's so nice to finally meet you." she saw the man smile widely.
"I'm sorry, I think you must be confusing me with someone. I don't know who you’re." she admitted and took the chocolates that the attendant had held out, took the money out of her pocket and handed it to the woman, ready to leave.
If not for the man in front of her.
"I know that, but I know who you are."
Okay, that was weird and very suspicious. Her soldier side was on alert.
"Pardon?"
"Y/N, I'm Choi Seung, I'm your father."
She felt all her blood run cold and her jaw dropped, unable to control herself. She was first confused and then laughed nervously. One, two, three times.
Until she saw that the man was still serious, almost ashamed to be there.
It was really strange, all her life had never experienced that, no one had ever come and tried to claim paternity.
"I don’t have father." she replied low and through gritted teeth, stepping to the side to avoid the man in front of her.
"Please." she heard the man speak, causing her to stop for a deep breath before facing him again. “I just ask for a chance to explain myself.”
Y/N pondered, not knowing how to respond.
She had so many questions and while part of her wanted to just turn her back and pretend it hadn't happened, the other part was curious for the answers.
Would it be worth tinkering with the unknown past?
[...]
“Y/N” Chanyeol caught the attention of the woman lying next to him on the bed, watching her stare at the ceiling of his room without blinking.
"Yes?" she replied, half astonished.
"You talked about me but you're also distracted and don't tell me it's because of the movie because you didn't even pay attention." he laughed, expecting Y/N to do the same but it didn't.
On the contrary, she took a deep breath before sitting on the bed, losing contact with Chanyeol's embrace, his hand fell from her side on the mattress.
It was the first time they were just lying in bed, both of them unable to stop thinking about the dark clouds that haunted their heads. On their first night after the date.
“Something has happened.” she started and Chanyeol put his hands behind his head, waiting for her to continue, she was so airy that the movement didn't catch her attention like it always did. "I don’t know where to start." she admitted.
Chanyeol was worried but not knowing what to say.
Unlike him, who always had someone to tell all the problems and inconveniences in his life, he had his parents and his sister, Y/N wasn’t in the habit of opening up to people because she never had anyone to count on.
She always kept everything she felt to herself, not because she thought sharing would make her vulnerable, but because she didn't have anyone she felt comfortable talking to about her life.
Until she was with Chanyeol.
Even though she trusted him, she still found it hard to have to share it all with him.
“Start from the beginning.” his hand went up to her leg and caressed it.
It was easier said than done.
"Okay. My father came to me.” she went straight and Chanyeol's eyes widened.
It wasn't the sort of thing she would joke about and considering recent events, he knew it would happen sooner or later.
He just didn't expect it to be so soon.
"What?" Chanyeol saw her biting her lip, visibly annoyed, and tried to soften his reaction. “Wait, your father?”
“At the cinema, when I went to buy the chocolates, a man called my name and said he was my father.”
Chanyeol adjusted his position, took his hands from behind his head and sat facing Y/N with his back against the headboard, taking a good look at the woman in front of him.
He was close by, watching over her, he probably knew they were together. This was no good.
"I thought you didn't know who your father was."
"And I don’t know!" she said, irritated with herself for making such a big deal out of it. "I wouldn't even stop to listen because even if he's my father, it doesn't make any difference."
Chanyeol looked at her suspiciously, he knew she was trying to convince herself and not him.
"But..." he encouraged her to continue.
"But I think I deserve to know the truth." she shrugged and Chanyeol felt a lump form in his throat, along with the heaviness his heart felt seeing her so shaken by it.
It wasn't common to see Y/N so vulnerable and although Chanyeol's will was always to protect her, out of sheer instinct, he felt bad this time because he was hiding important information from her.
She was right, she deserved to know the truth!
"What do you think?" she asked uncertainly.
"You’re right." he replied and had to bite his tongue to keep from speaking what he knew. All his self-control was hanging by a thread. “But do you really want to go through this now? I mean, it's kind of weird for him to show up after so long. If he really is your father.”
Y/N nodded silently, she thought so too, that's why she was so confused. It was the first time her past, which she had no knowledge of, gave her a headache.
When she finally was at peace with herself.
"Hey." she looked at Chanyeol, he was smiling slightly and took the opportunity to bring a hand to her cheek, making a subtle caress. "Forget about that, it's not worth stressing over anyway." he asked and saw that she grimaced.
Of course, she wouldn't let this story go, but the more he could keep her from getting too involved, he would.
"Is weird." she admitted, the heat of Chanyeol's palm was doing that to her.
"What?"
"It's the first time this has happened to me." she saw that he was confused and tried to explain. "That someone shows up saying it's my dad and I have someone to talk to about it."
Chanyeol felt his heart weigh once more, guilt filling every space. But he confessed that he was happy to be the person Y/N trusted to share that, it meant he was important.
Okay, they'd been together for a few weeks now and he knew they'd become more attached to each other because of their passion. But it was special to hear that from her.
Without saying anything, he didn't want to spoil the moment, the hand that was on her cheek went to the back of her neck and brought her closer so that the lips could calmly meet. He felt her melt in his arms as he captured her bottom lip and heard her sigh, laying her hand on his shoulder.
When Chanyeol moved away, receiving Y/N's complaint, he looked at her deeply.
“No matter what happens, I will always be by your side supporting you.”
Y/N smiled, feeling her heart beat faster.
"You’re good at it."
"What?" he asked, amused.
"Distract me."
Y/N saw him smile widely and hug her around the waist with both arms, bringing her to the bed and getting on top of her.
"I haven't even started yet."
[...]
"Wait!"
“Come on, Y/N.” Chanyeol pulled his girlfriend by the hand but she tried at all costs to walk slowly. Much slower.
"I'm going to fall, Park!" she complained, trying to balance her heels and the pie in her free hand as he tugged.
"I told you you didn't have to-" he started to speak but stopped walking, causing Y/N to do the same. “Did you just call me Park?” he spoke with a pout and she was confused, then laughed.
"It’s your name!"
"Not for you, I thought we'd gotten to the nickname part." Y/N laughed once more, finding it amusing but swallowed the laugh when she saw that he was serious.
She felt her cheeks start to burn.
“You want me to call you what? Supreme baby of my life?” she asked and saw Chanyeol looking at her expectantly and then disappointedly, shaking his head and pulling her again.
"You cut the whole mood, just love was enough." he complained and she bit her lip to keep from laughing again.
Love.
She liked that word but still couldn't speak it out loud to him.
But Y/N felt her legs shake as Chanyeol stopped in front of the house that would be their destination for the next two days.
“Calm down, Chanyeol. Wait!" she spoke as she watched him struggle to ring the bell with bags in hand.
He turned to face her without understanding.
"What's it?" he asked worriedly as he noticed that her eyes kept looking around.
Her hands were busy, so it kept her from scratching the back of her neck.
“Are you sure you want to do this?”
"It's the fifth time you've asked me that just on the way over here." he remembered and she took a deep breath, unable not to look nervous.
“Because I want to make sure this is a really good idea.”
Chanyeol stopped everything when he heard her trembling voice, dropped the bags on the floor and brought both hands to her face, forcing her to look into his eyes.
“It was my mother who invited you, she wants to meet you. You don’t need to be afraid." he assured and his thumb caressed her skin, making her smile slightly.
When Chanyeol had told her that he'd told his parents he was finally dating, she hadn't cared and tried not to think about it too much, but when he'd announced that next weekend they would have some time off together his family had invited her to visit them, Y/N became nervous and very anxious.
With Chanyeol it was all new, he was the one she had the first date with, he was the first person she could open up about her feelings, the first person she told about being an orphan. He was her first boyfriend.
Consequently, meeting her boyfriend's family would also be her first time and that worried her a lot for two reasons: she had never been in the role of daughter-in-law and she wasn't that experienced with family.
"Trust me." he asked and she couldn't resist, smiling broadly and nodding.
She didn't even need to answer, of course she trusted him.
He returned the smile and kissed her forehead, pulling away to pick up the bags again and pull her by the hand as they headed towards the front door.
Y/N took a deep breath, feeling her hands sweat as she tightly gripped the pie she was holding and squeezed Chanyeol's hand before the door opened.
"Honey!" Chanyeol's father yelled and soon after pulled his son into a tight hug.
Y/N smiled discreetly as she saw her boyfriend drop the bags on the floor to return the hug while he laughed.
She didn't know why but Chanyeol's laugh reminded her of a child's and she couldn't control her smile every time she heard that sound.
When the two moved away, Chanyeol's father faced Y/N with a polite smile.
“Dad, this is Y/N, my girlfriend.” Chanyeol proudly introduced her and she smiled back, then bowed.
"It's very nice to meet you, sir!" she answered.
"Equally." he held out his hand to her. “Please let me take it in!” he ordered the pie and Y/N delivered it, soon after he made room for the two of them to enter.
Chanyeol took the bags and nodded for her to go ahead.
And so she did, watching the house and smelling a pleasant scent.
“Make yourself comfortable!” Chanyeol's father left for a moment and Y/N looked at her boyfriend nervously.
Not all the adrenaline in the world would be able to anesthetize all the anxiety she was feeling, no mission had made her heart beat as fast as it did at that moment.
And when Chanyeol's mother appeared with a wide smile and her eyes shining at the sight of her son, Y/N was sure she would faint from being so nervous, her hands couldn't stop wiping the sweat between her palms on the jeans she was wearing.
However, even nervous and afraid of what her boyfriend's parents would think of her, Y/N did nothing but smile when she saw Chanyeol get lost in her mother's embrace even though he was 3 times bigger than her, dropping the bags once again on the floor to return the hug.
She felt her heart warm with happiness, she knew how important that reunion was for her boyfriend and how much family meant to him, so seeing him happy, she felt happy too.
“Mom, this is Y/N.” Chanyeol spoke up, after pulling away from the hug and his mom turned to face Y/N.
“It's great to meet you!” Y/N did the same greeting she did with the father and saw Chanyeol's mother approach to extend her hand, Y/N quickly grabbed it.
"It's nice to finally meet you in person, my son talked a lot about you." the two shook hands and Y/N kept the smile but frowned.
"Oh really?" she asked interestedly and glanced at her boyfriend for a brief second.
"I knew he liked you before he even told me you were dating." she continued and I could hear Chanyeol's father's muffled laugh.
"OK!" Chanyeol slurred and approached his mother, placing his hands on her shoulder. “Mom, where is Y/N going to sleep?” he looked back at his girlfriend. "My mom has a rule that guys and girls can't sleep in the same room so-"
“I'm not that old-fashioned. That was when you were younger.” his mother defended herself, making him look confused. "I know what my son does in my absence, so you can sleep in his old room." she explained to Y/N that she just nodded, looking at her boyfriend next.
Chanyeol was completely in shock and had such a funny face that Y/N couldn't control her laughter, catching the attention of his mother who glared at him.
"I know you're not that innocent, son." she patted his arm a few times and Y/N saw his ears turn red.
“Well, while you guys take your bags to your room, we're going to set the table. You must be hungry.” Chanyeol's father spoke up and they both agreed.
Chanyeol took the bags and went ahead, while the parents walked back to the kitchen laughing, and Y/N followed her boyfriend.
She admired the room when she arrived, it was much more organized than she had imagined and saw a guitar in the corner. She had recently discovered that he was passionate about music but hadn’t yet had time to hear him play or sing, although she knew that the moment that happened, she would fall in love with him even more.
Chanyeol turned to face her after putting the bags on the bed, he was embarrassed and it was obvious, Y/N found it amusing. When she could have imagined that she would see Chanyeol blush because of his mother.
"You're not going to talk about it to anyone in the division." he warned and she bit her lip to hold back her laughter.
"Sure!" she promised, motioning as if she was sealing her lips.
He looked at her suspiciously and she raised her arms in surrender.
I'll tell everyone, she thought.
Chanyeol walked over and held her hand, it was freezing cold and even though she was enjoying herself, he knew she was still anxious. So he brought the back of her hand to his lips and placed a soft kiss.
"Come on, my parents can't wait to talk to you!"
Y/N smiled nervously and hoped it would live up to Chanyeol's parents' expectations.
Dinner was better than Y/N could have imagined.
Although Chanyeol's mother seemed serious, she was sweet and liked to talk, and his father even seeming to be more serious had a sense of humor that Y/N noticed his boyfriend had inherited.
That particular night was the first time she hadn't felt alone. When mothers went to visit colleagues at the base, Y/N always felt a tightness in her chest because it was a kind of thing she would never understand, she wouldn't know what it felt like to see a relative after so long, what it was like to hug someone so strong enough to not want to let go. She'd never had anyone to go back to.
But here, along with her boyfriend and his family, it was the exact opposite of what she'd ever felt before. She felt at home, that was all she could describe.
Even with her cheeks hurting from laughing, she didn't want to stop. Not while she was hearing stories from Chanyeol that she never had the opportunity to.
Embarrassing stories that only parents would have the courage to tell.
They spent hours talking, until Chanyeol's mother, kindly as usual, suggested they go to sleep after they had eaten the pie Y/N brought. It was late and they must both be tired, as she claimed.
Neither of them objected, because it was true, and after Y/N thanked them for the food and accommodation, the two went to Chanyeol's old room.
Y/N swapped her jeans for a sweatshirt and Chanyeol took off his, going straight to the guitar and picking it up, to sit on the edge of the bed right away while Y/N lay down comfortably..
Chanyeol started to strum some song and she just admired him in silence, the concentrated and at the same time serene expression gave her a peace that she wished she had forever.
It was ironic how that was the same Chanyeol she hated a while ago.
"Now I know where you got so much humor from your father." Y/N spoke and saw Chanyeol laugh, still strumming the guitar.
“If Baekhyun were here, you would have fainted from laughing.” he said
"I still can't believe you two dropped the 1 meter cake on your school principal's head."
“What was supposed to be volunteer work at the school ended up turning into a two-day suspension.” Y/N tried not to laugh even louder, her stomach was already hurting from this story. "You would have liked to meet Baekhyun."
"What happened to him?" she asked, curious.
“He was kicked out of the army for being too loud.” Chanyeol smiled, memories flooding his head once more.
"Really?" Y/N asked, shocked.
“He spent two weeks in the air force.” he stared at her. "He would have been a great pilot if he didn't scream that he was going to die in testing."
Y/N frowned.
“Wait, in the tests?” she asked and he nodded in agreement. “He didn’t even get off the ground with an airship then?”
“He got kicked out before that.”
Y/N laughed once more. She was sure that this was the kind of best friend she would have imagined Chanyeol to have.
“Now he lives very well with his wife.” Chanyeol shrugged and turned his attention to the guitar. “He says it was the best thing that could have happened to him.”
“Been kicked out?” Y/N asked, laughing.
“Make his own family.”
Y/N was silent. Until that night she hadn't understood the real meaning of family, but now she knew why so many people fight to death for it. Why it's so important.
"You can say it." she listened to Chanyeol and looked at him as if he had discovered her biggest secret. “What song do you want me to play?”
She almost breathed a sigh of relief at hearing it and smiled faintly.
"Anything." she replied and hugged the pillow, already tired.
Chanyeol changed the song, his fingering more relaxed this time, following a pleasant rhythm and Y/N felt her eyelids get heavier. She would have fallen asleep to the tune if he hadn't started singing, the husky, tuned voice taking her by surprise.
I will never let you fall
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all
Even if saving you sends me to heaven
Y/N felt her whole body tingle not only with the voice but also with the lyrics. Although she had seen Chanyeol's potential to be a hopeless romantic, this was the first time he'd done something so intimate, not in a carnal way. He'd gone to the bottom of Y/N's soul, touched her heart in a way that she didn't realize she was crying until he looked her in the eyes and stopped at what he'd done.
"You’re crying?" he asked completely in disbelief and Y/N even shook her head but couldn't speak.
Chanyeol dropped the guitar next to him and approached his girlfriend who was trying to smile but in reality was making a face.
She wanted to say that it wasn't because she was sad but because she had felt so loved, that she was thrilled.
But she understood her boyfriend's desperation, of course, it wasn't like she was the most emotional person in the world, not even when she'd been shot on a mission. However, his gesture, even though so small, had somehow moved her a lot.
Chanyeol hugged her tight, lifting her torso off the mattress so she could meet his own and stroked her hair. Since he hadn't seen her so emotional like that, he realized he hated it. He hated to see her cry, it was strange to see her vulnerable like that.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry." he confessed and felt her put her hand on his torso and put pressure on him to move away, he did so but reluctantly.
"You know, all my first times were with you." she spoke quietly, taking a deep breath as he reached up to dry her face.
"All of them?" he raised an eyebrow suggestively and Y/N chuckled.
“Well, maybe just not that one.” she emphasized the last part and stared at him deeply. “You were the first one I really opened up to about my past without feeling like a weakling, you’re my first serious boyfriend, the first one that I met the family and also the first person I hated.”
Chanyeol rolled his eyes, smiling.
"Everyone knows it's because you love me."
"Yeah, exactly." Y/N nodded and saw Chanyeol's eyes widen.
He'd joked but she'd admitted it?
"Huh?" was all he managed to say, making Y/N smile widely without holding back her happiness.
“I love you, Park Chanyeol.” she laughed nervously and he continued in the same way. "And I'll confess, you serenading me was the most beautiful thing you've ever done for me." she approached, the trunks meeting again as she hugged him once more.
“More than me saving your life?” he asked, his arms tightening around her again.
"Well, I saved you first then." she shrugged and saw him laugh.
“Do me a favor?” he asked and she agreed. "Shut up and Kiss Me."
"Yes, sir."
When Y/N approached smiling and felt his hot breath so close, she just closed her eyes and felt her whole body heat up when their lips touched softly but confidently.
They could feel their hearts beating in the same rhythm and their hands didn't take long to find their favorite places to explore, Y/N on the back of his neck and Chanyeol on her waist, a little bolder he ignored the blouse she wore to caress her skin for down, making her shiver from head to toe.
Y/N tried to get better in bed, trying to kneel on the mattress but he didn't let her and covered her whole body with his while their tongues met in a more sensual dance, she didn't have the strength to object so she just fixed her legs so that they entwine together with his.
Piece by piece was thrown away, breaking down any barriers that kept the skins from finally meeting. Chanyeol broke the kiss to stare Y/N in the eye, deeply the way he did and it didn't help her panting at all.
"I want to look at you, all night." he asked, making her smile in response.
Even with the air in her lungs, she brought his face closer and went back to kissing him more thirstily as his hands roamed her body and burned every bit of pure desire.
Yearning to be together again, Y/N dug her nails into his long back as her wish was fulfilled, Chanyeol pulled his lips away to bury his face in the back of her neck and the sounds he made so close to her ear were driving her crazy. combined with the rhythm as the bodies collided.
With a little more control over himself, Chanyeol looked back into her eyes and she was lost in the intense glow, their hearts beating faster and faster as they neared their climax.
He kept what he promised, he stared at her the whole time and she felt her body practically come apart when they were done, taking a deep breath. Chanyeol collapsed on top of her, trying his best not to weigh her down as she gently stroked his hair.
When her legs were no longer shaky and they had caught their breath, he lay down beside her and pulled her chin in for a long peck, feeling his whole body sink into the bed with exhaustion.
"Hey." he called out to her and Y/N stared at him, her eyes getting heavier and heavier.
"Yeah?"
"I love you too. So much."
