The newcomer's reaction was not atypical - the honeygirls were good at getting their guests comfortable, after all; the place wouldn't have that reputation otherwise despite being in the slums - but it was nonetheless welcome. To be paired with a customer who was easy to please and just happy to be there made Melissa's job simpler; and even if circumstances bringing her to the role had been less than ideal...
...Sometimes she met people who made it all a bit less horrible. Genuine connections and friendships were all they looked for, as much as the clients; the girls just dreamed of a world where the Don didn't keep them chained to the inn, cutting off their wings but for those attached to the costume.
"Second best! So impressive - I'm the luckiest girl around, then," Melissa remarked with an excited voice and promptly paid her dues - the blonde man was awarded another kiss to his cheek, very similarly to the first one, but it was to his colleagues that she directed her attention next: a few other bee-girls were making their way to the booth, so they would be likely occupied shortly and less inclined to tease her selected patron.
"Well, I understand you guys are jealous of his success, but you shouldn't be. Third and fourth places here will have the honor of being with Serena and Laura tonight," Melissa gestured to the new employees taking their places between the guys, both of them bringing some new drinks for the table - whether these had been ordered or not was a good question, but if they consumed that alcohol, it would make it to their tab.
"They are just lovely companions, you have to do me proud," the girl pointed at the other recruits with a finger, narrowing eyes slightly before the act was dropped and she just laughed, turning her attention entirely to the man at her side. Shifting the body enough for a better view, Melissa then playfully bumped the blonde man on the shoulder to ensure he was looking at her, and then used a free hand to go to his face again, moving a lock of hair to stay behind his ear.
"I'm Melissa," she finally disclosed her name, offering a hand to be kissed as ladies did - even if she was no lady, at least not by upperplater's standards, "And how do I call you, Mr. Secretly First of his Class but Eager for a Kiss? That's just a lot on the tongue, I'm sure your name will be prettier."
