It was supposed to be a normal movie night —or as normal as it could be when you’re spending time alone with the guy you liked and trying your best not to do anything stupid that could ruin whatever this thing they had going was. And that was probably the problem. Milo wasn’t sure where they were standing in regards to their dynamic. They had gone out together a couple of times, they laughed and flirted (in their own way), but neither of them had actually made a move. The tension was there, it was clear, and it increased each time they saw one another. Yet, in Milo’s hopeless romantic spirit, he was waiting for the right moment to pull James toward him and kiss him. Not that the thought hadn’t crossed his mind many times, because Milo was someone who would ask for a kiss if after the second or third date nothing had happened. But then again, him and James hadn’t even had a proper date either in the first place. Everything was confusing.
As they watched the movie, Milo got lost in his own thoughts while being self aware of their closeness. He adjusted his position slightly forward so he could rest his head over the backrest at one point, catching a glimpse of James’ profile. Without even realizing, Milo angled his head to be able to see the other man better. James had a killer side profile, even when it was only lightened by the flicking lights of the screen. The man was really attractive, and his focused expression made him look even ten times hotter. Milo couldn’t seem to be able to look away, but he didn’t quite realize he was staring either. Not until he saw the other moving.
James’ actions were so damn fast that didn’t give Milo time to process what was going on, and in just a brief seconds he had the other man straddling him and locking him between his arms. His mouth was partially open matching the surprise expression on his features. It seemed like he wanted to say something, but no words came out. He was completely and utterly blank, and of course, crimson red. Milo could feel the heat not only on his face but his entire body. His heart was pumping so fast he could even hear the thump on his ears. He was going to combust.
He swallowed hard when James traced his fingers over his chest, afraid of even moving an inch and having his body betray him. The other’s breath against his cheek sent shivers down his spine. Everything James was doing right now was working to fluster and turn him on at the same time. “N-nothing,” he managed to say, though it was a lie. There was a lot he was thinking. His hands slowly came to rest on the other’s thighs, fingers tentatively gripping them. There was nowhere he could go, he was literally trapped, so even if it wasn’t the fairytale vision he had dreamed of, maybe this was the moment he actually had to take his chance. “Well, actually… I um, I was thinking you’re very beautiful.” A beat. Mostly to pull himself together. “And that I really wanna kiss you.”
Having James sitting on his lap felt like enough permission, so there was no need for subtleties now. He turned his head to be able to look at James, wetting his lips as his gaze flicked briefly to James' mouth, giving him time if he wanted to pull back. And with that, he closed the remaining distance, pressing their lips together. Slow, reverent. Like something he had been wanting for ages.
