How to Tuesday: Step 5. Masking soles with blue 3M painter's tape to protect from spray & allow better #soledye absorption (step 8-9). Trimming where necessary with sharp blade (dragging to cut to spare surface) Step 6. Using cheap Scotch masking tape, carefully masking off all newbuck upper and ankle liner by borrowing a cobbler technique I learned from @michaelgreyfootwear. Building from back to front , I cover the upper- the way one makes a shoe pattern from a last. There is a generous overlap on EVERY piece of tape. Cutting away excess tape to reveal the "midsole" front to back. .
