“I’m not trying to CHANGE you!!”
But in a way she couldn’t even believe her own words. Were there things about him that she wishes were different? Of course. There were things he did that she wishes he didn’t....but at this point he knew now. H knew all about just how much pain he’d put her in without meaning too. All the times she doubted and worried because he just didn’t know when enough was enough.
She’s breathing deeply into her hands now. Her voice is pretty much gone at this point.
“I don’t hate you. I never hated you. You’re difficult to work with yes but I’ve always tried my best to work with you, haven’t I? Not like it matters I guess....”
And then he says those words. Words that she couldn’t possibly know what they meant, but in her gut she knew. She could only hope she was wrong....but hope wasn’t going to change anything. She knew, deep down, but she wanted him to say it in a way she’d understand.
“......Tell me. Look me in the eyes and tell me what you said.” She’s trying to hold back the tears, but it’s not working out in her favor.
“It’s what you’ve wanted to say for a while now, right?”
