Birthday 2019: Individuation + Transition. I debated what photo to post and needed to reflect on the past year. Standing in front of @lucaslucasnyc with sister @makinglucas 2-month old on the day before my birthday feels appropriate. I celebrated my birthday here last year and found a place to escape to above it when I had to make a hard decision. A day after that conscious choice I moderated my first cannabis panel for @shop_shaw on July 26 as a Full Moon rose with @tonic_cbd @maryslist.co @cannaclusive. Community seeds planted. The past year was spent rebuilding, initiating and envisioning new projects + partnerships, learning to receive love + not just distribute (thank you @dannielswatosh @nurunamnam for being that reflection of balance), connecting with like energies + releasing those that don't resonate at the same frequency in order to release three fractured pieces of myself and become whole. The integration of self was prioritized. Being conscious and aware of how ancestral/generational wounds/trauma had me stuck in a self-imposed loop. Today I feel free. I am proud of the cannabis/larger culture work I'm doing at @humblebloomco; speaking on diversity, inclusion, + activism; participating in creative resistance with my ReSisters @resistancerevivalchorus; fighting for tenant rights in Bushwick, creating intersectional community at @lebainnyc and with my brother @cankaranis through @hotsituations. But more than anything I'm smitten with the family I've cultivated: from the #cannabiscommunity from NY to CA, Canada to Mexico and my NY loves + all the little babes to whom I now serve as auntie. I'm comfortable being me. Grateful for all those encourage me to be.
