Extra/slight closeup under the cut
(I have this image in my head and now must inflict it on others)
Solis: (Walks into the room with a smoothie and a blond identical to Prompto hanging off his back.)
Noctis and Prompto both stare.
Noctis: What do have there Sol?
Solis: A smoothie.
(Clone proceeds to steal smoothie for himself without losing grip on Solis.)
Noctis: I meant the guy that looks like Prompto.
Solis: A clone.
Prompto: A what?!
Work was very slow so I got a bit more research done and ended up spending a lot of time figuring out and writing some wouldbuilding that’ll fit into most of my AUs. It’s a long post, so I’m putting it under a read more.
Eos was once known as Etro
Black is the color of the Lucian royal family
Eos was the mother of two children. One of which was the father or Ardyn and Somnus
The story of Eos being imprisoned and killed by the astrals that Final Fantasy Peasant made a video on will be a lost legend
Eos’ original name was erased from history, no one remembers the name Etro of her other domain, the only remember the domain of the Dawn
The StarScourge is an effect of chaos bleeding back into the world on Eos’ death
Bahamut used her heart to create the crystal and gave it to the father of Somnus and Ardyn to guard until the chosen king was born.
Ifrit did love Eos, but it was platonic, he loved her as family.
Retrieving her body left him mortally wounded and infected by the scourge created by chaos. He burned both their bodies upon ravatogh to try and destroy it.
That backfired
Badly
The Lucian royal family used to be able to see the light of the dead, but later generations have lost that ability.
The Oracle line actually stems from blessings from Titan and Bahamut.
The Lucis Caelum line’s full power comes solely from their blood relation to Eos.
They were the ones that learned to use it for battle.
Solheim was destroyed in the battle of the astrals, not because of Ifrit’s rage, but to stop Bahamut Teraflare, though the kingdom was still wiped out by the power.
Ifrit was not fond of humanity, but he tolerated them because Eos loved all living beings.
He tried to hide the fact she was in love with a human and had children with one.
Shiva went behind his back and informed Bahamut.
Ifrit had loved Shiva so much, but he was heartbroken that Eos’ secret was revealed by her and led to the imprisonment and death of one he saw as family.
He never forgives Shiva for that.
Leviathan blames humans for Eos’ “Fall”
Ramuh regrets his part in her being imprisoned as he was the one that brought her in for judgement, thinking Bahamut would not be so harsh.
Titan purposely caught the meteor so Ifrit could hopefully reach Eos before she died. He felt the punishment was too harsh, Eos loved, love should never be a crime. She created life when her domain was always the world of the dead.
The Rogue was the first ruler of Lucis to discover what Eos’ true domain was, the symbol of Lucis used to be the crystal. She changed it to what it is in the game in honor of Eos’ true domain as Lucis’ patron Astral.
Tenebrae’s patron is not Shiva, it is Bahamut
Accordo’s is Leviathan, but they fear their astral too much to acknowledge that anymore.
Shiva had been Niflheim’s patron, until they killed her original body
Ramuh was 100% Galahad’s and he favors his people even now.
Titan is the patron of hunters, surprisingly. Considering a lot of hunts have habitat destruction as the reasoning, it makes sense.
Ifrit had been Solheim’s patron, the other Astrals never paid the kingdom much attention.
Survivors of Solheim used the last bit of their working technology to transform the place Ifrit descended to retrieve Eos into a training ground meant to show the story of what happened to her.
Her corpse is what causes anyone that falls or dies to suddenly reappear at the start of the room unharmed
The entire dungeon is warped by the unseen due to her corpse’s presence.
Covenants with astrals and messengers can actually strengthen the astral blood of a Lucis Caelum.
The crystal becomes the final push for a full awakening and ascension.
This information was hidden from the entire Lucis Caelum line, including from Ardyn, by Bahamut. He made sure they were also unaware that they were descendants of Eos herself.
There are stories and theories over the centuries that Bahamut purposely sired the Lucis Caelum line to ensure the king of light was born.
Considering that he isn’t the patron of the Crown City, and how devote the family used to be to worship of Eos, those theories died fast.
Titan, even trapped under the meteor, granted his blessing to a line of hunters to allow them to trap powerful deamons using the power of the very land instead of their lives. Though the traps created doors with a single key that can unlock them, passed from one family member to the next
Only one of divine blood can open the doors using the key.
The holder of the key can sense those with divine blood, but conditions have to be met for the holder to be allowed to part with the key.
Shiva follows the Oracle line due to orders from Bahamut. She does not agree with the prophecy, but she swore to guide the last oracle when the time came to each astral that needs to be awoken.
Titan has no desire to help with the prophecy and Leviathan cares not. They will only agree with it if the chosen king proves his strength.
Titan does not wish for the prophecy to happen as he feels it is wrong to sacrifice one of Eos’ blood.
Leviathan just does not want anything to do with humans, especially a descendant of the human that led to Eos’ judgment.
Ramuh has some hope that ascending will allow the chosen king to get around his fate of death.
Honestly, if he’s made aware he could jump back into and save his body, a wound to the heart would not be enough to kill an astral after all.
Post made me think of this.
Solis meeting his past life somehow before Ardyn was the accursed. Maybe with his time’s Ardyn and the clone whose name I already forgot with him. He just... pulls a page from Cor’s book and goes feral on his past self. Cue two Ardyns trying to keep the Somnus and Solis from killing each other.
Solis would be screaming so much anger and hate at his past life, his Ardyn really getting to understand how much his brother hated what he did to him.
If Noctis was with them, just... they’d be sitting out of it eating popcorn with confused servants looking between them and the other four. They’re probably in something feminine because they were planning to mess with the council when this happened.
Solis AU Snippet
Noctis sleepily walked into the meeting room, nodding to their twin that was already seated. They haven’t noticed all the stares everyone was giving them just yet, but they do see Ignis bury his face in his hands. “Something wrong?”
“Noctis… you’re wearing a skirt.”
They look down and see that they are indeed wearing a black skirt that goes past their knees. “That’s why it was easier than usual to put on what I thought was pants… It feels like a skirt day anyway.”
One of the council members makes a choking sound before speaking up. “Prince Noctis… isn’t it a bit inappropriate for a man to wear a skirt?”
Noctis blinks at the one that spoke, well… might as well come out. “I’m non-binary, so that shouldn’t be a problem.”
Ignis almost sounds like he’s crying, or pretending to cry to avoid people thinking he’s laughing. The rest of the council looks extremely confused, and Regis has his phone out trying to search what Non-Binary means. He will support his child!
“Can you… elaborate on what that is?” Well another council member is feeling brave.
“My twin does not identify as male or female… And prefers they/them pronouns.” Solis figures he should take over before they can cause chaos by being vague on purpose… They’ve been spending too much time plotting pranks with Ardyn.
Their father speaks up at this point. “Is there a… non-binary alternative for the title of Prince?”
More Solis stuff right now
Solis was actually pretty protective of Noctis before they found Ardyn, because his twin was so much like his older brother at that age.
The moment he realized Noctis had the same magic as Ardyn, but that Bahamut used the crystal to lock it away. He managed to break into the crystal room to scream obscenities directed at the shit dragon.
Regis nearly had a heart attack when a guard shakily told him what his eldest child was doing.
He was very tempted to join Solis in screaming at Bahamut when he learned that part of Noctis’ own magic was locked away by him.
The Lucii may have tried to get Regis to try and send them into the crystal so they can try to fight Bahamut.
He wanted to, but would not let himself risk their souls.
Mors was not happy.
Mors actually wasn’t a bad father, but let ruthlessness take over and cause him to make very bad decisions.
He knows Ardyn isn’t his son, but does tell Regis otherwise and that Ardyn’s mother had stolen him away from Insomnia and he had been unable to find him.
Ardyn pouts because he can’t call Solis and Noctis his siblings in public as a result.
He eventually comes clean and thanks Mors for the cover story.
Regis thinks that Ardyn has magic through reincarnation when told Solis is Somnus’ reincarnation and was Ardyn’s younger brother in a past life.
Noctis is a new soul and is so similar to how Ardyn was at that age it hurts even the man himself to see that.
Noctis once made Ardyn sneak them and Prompto to Tenebrea so that they could introduce their best friend to Luna.
Luna wants to adopt Prompto. Ravus does too.
Ravus nearly does a spittake the first time Noctis walked around in a dress around him.
Ravus is so very confused until the non-binary thing is explained.
He thought Noctis lost a bet and had a great poker face.
He doesn’t treat Noctis differently, is still an ass. But does use the correct pronouns and will correct others if they misgender them.
He doesn’t like Noctis, he just knows how to respect someone’s pronouns.
Ardyn 100% brings gifts back and forth between Luna and Noctis, as well as gifts from Luna to Prompto because she already decided that’s her new little brother.
Prompto would like to know why Royalty keeps claiming him.
Gen would like to keep his existence a secret from Luna please
I remembered the Solis AU with Ardyn slowly warming back up to his reincarnated brother and just. At one point Ardyn realizes the Emperor is planning to hurt the twins so... hostile takeover of Niflheim time.
Ardyn just going back to Lucis after and telling Regis not to worry about the war. He couped the Emperor cause the guy was planning another assassination attempt on Solis and Noctis.
Regis both wants to scream, and hug Ardyn for that. His children are at least safe, but now Niflheim is being ruled by another LC.
Gilgamesh just lets out a long suffering sigh. This is why all LCs should have shields in his opinion. LCs are chaotic beings and they need someone to reign them in.
Well while I’m thinking of Gen, I have headcanons.
Gen is great with most technology... except cell phones.
Noctis keeps bugging Solis to teach Gen how to use a phone so he can play kings knight with them.
Gen isn’t a fan of photography, he likes to draw, and will read any book he can get his hands on.
He tried to move into Solis’ closet because he’s used to being kept in a cramped pod.
He got his own rooms with plenty of space from Regis, who had to destroy a training room after learning about the pods.
Gen’s room is a disaster area of art supplies, books, and bits of technology he was messing with. He painted a lot of his walls on his own with random designs.
Some of the Glaives paid Gen to paint their dorms. Titus got the surprise of his office having a wall painted to look like a real sunset seen from his hometown thanks to a few of his glaives.
He hates Solis a bit less than the other LCs for rescuing Gen, since he in a way, as a piece of his hometown he can see anytime if he’s getting stressed out.
Gen had to learn he is allowed to say no. It took a long time.
He was homeschooled until he was comfortable telling others no.
He may have grown his out and keeps it tied back. To help others tell him apart from Prompto.
Gen was introduced as a distant cousin of Prompto’s.
He also ends up being the one to tell Regis and Cor about how Prompto’s parents are rarely ever home.
Prompto gets bullied into moving in with Noctis and Solis after that. Gen helped by just packing his stuff for him and bringing it to the apartment, and ignoring arguments against it.
Gen does have his own room at the apartment, it’s filled with sketchbooks, pencils, paint, and canvases.
