Elena’s romance explanation is hella long in itself so I’ll put everything under the cut again ^_^
4. What would their romance route look like? Would they be romancable?
Elena is only romancable by female Inquisitors. If you try to romance her as a male Inquisitor, she’ll likely laugh it off at the beginning, but if you get to the scene where it would trigger the romance, she will tell you that you are wasting her time with this nonsense and that if actually needed something then could you hurry up and be out with it because she has some runes to translate, rather than listen to you barking up a tree you were told was not interested.
Flirting with her as a female Inky and she turns into a SHIT TBH. Like suddenly she smirks and plays along with each flirt option
The scene that triggers the romance occurs after her personal quest, and if you have high enough approval. in which she will meet the Inquisitor coming out of their chambers and will be leaning against the wall with her eyebrow raised like… ‘we need to talk’. She’ll then take the Inquisitor to their chambers and she’ll be like: ‘Inquisitor, I think we both know that you’ve been flirting with me and that I enjoy flirting with you, so shall we cut to the chase and actually do something about it? I can only play this dance for so long…’ and she’s basically a seductive little shit and you can either turn her down and say that it was just harmless flirting. in that case, she simply nods and says that she respects your decision, makes a comment about the Inky knowing where to find her if she ever changes her mind and then she leaves. Or you can accept her offer to start a relationship. Though, she spells out that the relationship at this point is more of a ‘friends with benefits’ situation. She will mention this before obviously... Elena simply isn’t interested in a ‘proper’ relationship at this point.
Her gift is really sweet. Elena will mention Siân (ones of her best friends from the Circle, whom she helped find a Dalish Clan after the Circles were disbanded) in passing and will wonder whether she is okay in the clan that she left her in. At which point the Inquisitor can undergo a war table mission to locate her and this will bring her to Skyhold. Honestly, the smile on Elena’s face is so precious that I just want to cry and when she hugs Siân, she looks at the Inquisitor over her shoulder and just mouths ‘thank you’
Her scene for locking in the romance occurs after What Pride Had Wrought, because she the whole thing makes her intensely philosophical. it’s an alteration of the scene you get on high approval regardless, because this is when she talks about Gwen (her best friend turned lover who was made Tranquil) but the conversation is vastly different though. Elena will actually talk about Gwen as her lover, rather than someone she merely cared about and will tell you that she was the only one she had ever had the capacity to love, until…
And then she breaks off and looks down at her hands and then at the stars and is like: ‘I never thought I would feel that way again. I never thought I could come close and yet… here you are.’
Her convo does slightly differ if you allied with the mages/conscripted the templars vs conscripting mages/allying with templars, cause it’ll be either ‘you surprised me’ or ‘i had my doubts about you’
You can either select the option that’s like… ‘I love you too’ and Elena will look at you with widened eyes and then she’ll smile and kiss you and say that she never thought that she’d have another chance to be happy, but right now, she thinks it might actually happen ooor you can be like ‘i thought you wanted this to be casual? I don’t think I care for you as much as you care for me.’
In this case, she will most likely say: ‘ah yes… well… forget i said anything. forget I said any of it! Bastard!’ and she will storm off and the next time you speak to her, she’s stood next to a small pot that is flickering with flames and she just says: ‘I’m not in the mood right now. Go.’
I would advise not to break up with her at that point because HOOOO BOY IT WOULD BE SO SAD HOLY FUCK!!
10. If Inquisition operated like DA:O, what would their gift items be? What would their approval and disapproval Feast Day items be?
Magical tomes, artefacts or even little mother of pearl boxes. She’s absolutely obsessed with those boxes. For a Feast Day gift, it would probably be a book on translations or a very ancient text and she would be so happy like you could not even believe. However, for the prank, it would probably be a templar shield and she would probably want to bash you with it.
16. What would the Fear Demon say to them in the Fade to try and discourage them?
‘You will always be like them. You cannot hide from the corruption and rage inside of you, Elena, it will swallow you until the person you think you are is gone.’
18. What’s their reaction to a dragon showing up?
“Glorious... such a powerful and magnificent creature! Can we take a closer look? I... wow, this is invigorating, are we going to fight it? Because I wouldn’t say no to fighting it!”
