how does tiredness affect your writing?

Tiredness makes it hard for me to focus and, since I write in Italian first, and later translate everything to English, it makes it even more difficult. I have an idea in mind, but I can’t put it into words, and if I do it’s a struggle; In the end, it becomes such a mess of grammar errors and phrases that make no sense to my tired mind ( ‘‘ I don’t think that sounds right, ’’ and ‘‘ let me check the spelling, ’’ ), that I prefer closing the tab and leave it for the next day — where I delete everything and keep very little to use as a base.

Brom doesn't put stock into good fortune or misfortune as concepts, believing far more in what can be seen or perceived in tangible ways. Proven concepts such as divine intervention and curses don't counteract his outlook but prove it as far as he's concerned, since the powers that be manifest in an oftentimes painfully overt manner in the Lands Between. Things either happen or don't, and if something is going too well then it isn't an accident.

As for whether Brom is lucky or unlucky, there isn't much to support one or the other. Many terrible things have happened, many good things have happened, and there's no true inclination towards one side of the cosmic scale or the other.

🍳 - cooking

While not a professional chef by any definition of the word, Brom is quite a proficient cook with a notable skill with meat-based dishes. Roasts and stews typically turn out the best with how often he's spent preparing meals out in the wilds, but when an opportunity arises in the hold Brom has occasionally been known to bake meat pies of good quality. Most desserts elude him, however.

Having been taught by his father with questionable degrees of success in his youth, Brom spent the years during and following the Shattering improving with the (at times hesitant) help of his brother Albert as a taster. Thankfully the near poisonings over time eventually resulted in good quality meals.

   The Magister had seen quite a bit in his life, short as it might seem compared to those that lived far beyond humes. Yet, nothing quite as astounding as this. Behind the impressive metal carapace he wore, Bergan’s eyes roam over the other’s form, apprehension and arrogance pulled up by its bootstraps and put into full view for any to see and hear.

   Gloved fingers find the hilt of his longest spined blade and pluck it from where it’d once been hanging at his hip, drawing its full length out cross his body and gesturing to them with its gilded shine.

   “I give no quarter to the likes of you.”

   An Archadian right down to the bone, he feels how the nethecite infused to marrow pulses from the invocation of its power within his intolerance, Judge Magister awaiting a reply before moving any further. It always proved an interesting encounter to see which supposed enemy would flee, so he might chase them down and enjoy ever more the way that they met his cleaving blows with begging mercy.

Oh jeez, Az has been white-knuckling it most of her life. I mean, the violent rage inside her is basically borne out of fear, fear of being vulnerable, fear of being hurt, fear of rejection etc. She's so afraid all the time, that little child in her mind, that she isolates herself and furthers her own suffering.

Azrael was shitting it when Mary revealed Adah and asked her to protect the child, who (by Heaven's Law) wasn't supposed to exist and therefore should have been culled. Azrael knew that by letting Adah live, she would be disobeying her orders for the first time, and by continuing to protect Adah, she would be committing treason. So Azrael would essentially be putting her head on the chopping block, making eventual imprisonment and the loss of her wings inevitable.

On several occasions, Azrael went to Mary's house during the night and knelt next to Adah's bed, trying to convince herself to kill the child while she slept. But Azrael couldn't do it. Eventually, she had to give up and accept that her position in Heaven was coming to an end.
