Solju, Ulla Pirttijärvi and her daughter Hildá Länsman, combine their heritage of northern Sámi language and traditional chant, known as yoik, with a desire for new and innovative music, providing a dialogue of traditional and modern Sámi culture. Solju performs at G Livelab presenting their new music with Teho Majamäki and Janne Burton Puurtinen (best known as the keyboardist of the Finnish gothic rock band HIM).

In the first hour of this week's program, we listen to some excellent French/Malian remixes; more intelligent Canadian-Haitian pop; a last album from one of Australia’s very finest indigenous voices; and we spend a fair bit of time in Scandinavia, with new indigenous music from the Sami people of Finland (pictured: Solju); and then some brand new and very creative Norwegian dub!
