Summary: When a simple Scav cleanout goes wrong, Goro is furious with Vera for putting herself in danger. Luckily for her, she knows just how to distract him...and herself.
Pairing: Takemura Goro x femNomad!V
A/N: I was bored and wanted to write some steamy Goro x Vera. This fic also ties into my headcanon about the Bakker Clan wearing leather jackets...hence why Vera really, really loves Goro’s coat.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You need to stop endangering yourself, V," Goro said crossly, stripping off his leather coat and tossing it across the bed, then shrugging out of his shoulder holster.
No answer.
“V? Are you listening to me?”
"I'm still alive, aren't I?" Vera asked mildly, succumbing to an impulse she had every time she saw his coat. She picked it up and stroked the butter-soft leather, then slipped it on. The garment was too large, of course, hanging off her thin shoulders, and the sleeves reached way past her hands, but it was warm from his body, and the feel of the leather was so scrumptious she almost purred.
"What are you doing?" he asked, diverted. "Trying on your coat," Vera replied, giving him a look that said, Duh. What did it look like she was doing?
"V, you cannot change the subject--"
"I'm not. I just want to try it on." She pulled the edges together and immersed herself in the pure heat of him. "And why are you so upset? I was only improvising."
"V, listen to me! You were supposed to wait for my signal! Not improvise! Do you know how dangerous it is to—What are you doing?"
"Taking off my clothes," she said with that look again. Vera was already down to her underwear, and she unhooked her bra and dropped it on the bed, then shimmied out of her purple panties. Now utterly naked, she picked up his coat again and slipped it on, then looked in the mirror. Much better. The coat still swallowed her, but now it was an improvement, with her tousled curly purple hair and bare legs. She looked good.
Vera put her hands into the pockets, hunched her shoulders, and then rolled her neck. She turned around to get a back view. "I love this coat," she purred, lifting the hem just enough to show the beginning curve of her ass. Vera felt breathless and a little too hot as if someone had raised the heat in her apartment. She lifted the hem higher. “Well? What do you think?”
“...”
“Goro?”
"...I am still angry with you," Goro said hoarsely. His silver eyes were glazed. He came up behind her and gripped her bottom in both hands. Goro's lips were forceful, his tongue demanding. His hands shaped her bottom and waist, slid under the coat and up to her breasts. Vera caught her breath as he growled and molded her bare breasts with his palm. His hands were hot on her cool skin, his thumbs gentle on her nipples. "You will be the death of me.”
"Thought you were mad at me."
"Amateur merc. Come to bed. We will discuss this in the morning."
"You sure? I could always just put my clothes back on and finish the conversation." Vera took her hands out of the pockets and stroked the sleeves. "I wouldn't want us to go to bed angry."
"Do not provoke me, little thief," he muttered, reaching between them to unzip his fly. "Bed. Now."
Summary: Don't tell of this place / It's for me and you only / Softly, softly know me...
Pairing: Takemura Goro x femNomad!V
A/N: Enjoy a fresh way of teeny drabbles centered on my V and Takemura.
01 - Weak
Takemura draped his coat over her trembling frame. He bent his head over hers, murmuring soft, consoling sounds that didn’t seem to be words at all, but just the sound was enough. Vera tried to burrow closer, embarrassed at her weakness yet helpless to stop herself. One big hand closed over the nape of her neck, massaging, cradling, hot on her tender bare skin.
02 - Fury
He was angry, Vera thought. No, angry wasn’t an adequate word; he was furious, his silver eyes glittering, his lips a thin, grim line, jaw tense. She was so glad to see him that she didn’t care that he was pissed at her for disobeying him and throwing herself into danger.
03 - Reckless
Hand around her wrist, Takemura turned to face her. “You’re coming with me,” he said between clenched teeth, “if I have to pick you up and carry you, then so be it.” He tugged firmly and steered her toward the van. “After that little stunt you pulled with Maelstrom, I took precautions. I will not allow you to be so reckless with your life ever again!”
04 - Expose
The bedroom was warm and darkened, the blinds closed. Vera had pulled the sheet over her before going to sleep, but she was beginning to sweat. Gently, Takemura folded the sheet down. This was better anyway, he thought. This way, he could see all of her.
05 - Threat
The next message on her phone was an ad warning her against malware, then another hang-up, and all at once a deep, furious voice: “Gods damn you, V—” He stopped, and when he spoke again, it sounded as if his teeth were clenched. “I will find you, and you will answer for your crimes. The Aldecados will not protect you forever—” Vera didn’t get to hear the rest of the threat because she crushed the phone in her hand. Her knees went weak, and she leaned against a concerned Panam for support, tears streaming down her face. Fuck.
06 - Curl
Vera couldn’t help but flush with pleasure when Takemura gently touched one of her purple curls, picking it up and stretching it out, marveling at its length before releasing the tension on the strand and wrapping around his finger like a loose spring.
07 - Consume
Takemura bent over her, framed her face with his hands, and kissed her soft mouth. Vera went still, like a small animal trying to hide from a predator. Her hands came up to clasp his wrists, small hands, the skin rough and sensitive over delicate bones. He wanted to crush her mouth with his, but he gentled his kiss, treasuring rather than consuming.
08 - Knowing
Bare facts weren’t enough. Neither was the file on his little thief. Takemura wanted to know her, what she liked to eat for breakfast, her favorite books and movies, whether she slept sprawled out or curled in a ball. He wanted to know her, this nomad from the Badlands.
09 - Rest
“Sleep, V.” His lips brushed her ear, moved over her temple. His hand slowly stroked down her back, urging her even closer. Their legs tangled, and one hard-muscled thigh slid between hers. Brushing her lips over the underside of his jaw, Vera nestled in close and slept.
10 - Home
When Vera climbed out of the Basilisk, Takemura stood there, immaculate as always, but he didn’t appear angry or even upset. The expression in his silver eyes was almost...nervous. “Vera,” he began, taking a cautious step towards her. “I—” “I know,” she interrupted, and with a soft smile, she launched herself at him. His reflexes were quick; he opened his arms and caught her.
The cool moonlight touched V’s face, her bare arms, and shoulders, while a soft breeze flirted with her purple-dyed curls. She felt disconnected from the incredible view of Night City, as if none of it was real, not even the light of the faint neon light on her cheeks. She felt Takemura approach, felt him halt when he was close behind her. She hadn’t heard him, wasn’t aware of a single sound other than the rustle of the breeze and the faint noise of the city far below; nevertheless, she knew he was there and his silent presence was a comfort.
02 - Release
The pain that emanated from the chip in Vera’s head would have made her collapse forward if not for Takemura’s grip. He carefully wrapped an arm around her shoulder, holding her until she stopped gasping and shuddering until she stopped crying. Why was she crying? She should be used to the pain, the feeling of Silverhand consuming her soul. Yet now, her cheeks were wet, her breathing hard and jerky. She fought for control, and when she could, she opened her eyes and looked up, met Takemura’s gaze, and smiled weakly.
“Thank you…”
03 - Watch
Vera came out of the bathroom within ten minutes, her purple hair wet, her dark skin smelling of her favorite lavender scented soap. Silently she began dressing, her expression calm and remote, as if she were lost in thought. Takemura watched her, drinking in every inch of her, committing her to memory.
04 - Reasons
“I died,” Vera said flatly. Takemura’s eyebrows lifted just a little as if he were mildly surprised by her sudden need to discuss the the night of her death.
“I know.”
“Then what made you check on me? I’m a nomad and you’re Old Man Saka’s loyal soldier. My word will mean little to Hanako. She doesn’t even know that I exist.” He didn’t answer immediately; instead, he watched her with unnerving silence, his gaze hooded. “I had my reasons,” he said softly.
Reasons he wasn’t going to tell her, that was clear enough. Agitated, Vera pushed both hands into her thick hair, scooping it back from her face and tugging, as if the pressure on her scalp would pull her thoughts into order. The slight narrowing of his eyes told her he wanted her to drop the subject, just let it go, but she couldn’t. ‘Why me?’
05 - Tease
“You talk in your sleep,” he said, giving her one of those little almost-smiles that made him look years younger. Vera’s face grew hot. Exasperated because she was trying to ignore the fact that she’d been mumbling about food in her sleep and he was making fun of her, she slapped her hand down on the table, the sound like a small smack.
“Stop teasing me! I can’t help that I’m hungry all the time!”
06 - Yearn
Takemura knew enough about V, gleaned from the weeks they’d spent together, to know how she looked when she was conflicted. She wanted to be indifferent to him, but she wasn’t, any more than he was indifferent to her. He wanted to be; he wanted to forget her as soon as their business was concluded. And yet, for the first time in his life, he found himself yearning.
07 - Sneak
“I bought tea,” he said right behind her, and Vera jumped, almost dropping the cup. Takemura reached out to catch it, his hand closing around hers to steady her grip. Immediately, she pulled out of his grasp and lifted the teapot from the warmer, filling both their cups. “Make some noise when you walk,” she grumbled, swallowing when he watched her with silent amusement glittering in his eyes. Fuck why was he like this?
“I could hum.”
“Whatever. Just don’t sneak up on me.”
08 - Trust
He cupped her chin in his hand, tilted her face up so he could read every nuance of her expression. “Do you trust me, V?” His hand lingered, smoothed a purple strand of her hair behind her ear. “You know I do, Goro.” She sighed and turned her cheek against his palm. “You and I...we’re in this for the long haul.”
09 - Warm
Takemura’s grim mouth was softer than V had expected and gentler than she’d ever imagined. The kiss hadn’t been passionate; it had, in fact, been more comforting than anything else. She melted into it. Relished in it. How could someone so cold feel and taste so warm?
10 - Home
“Coming with me to the Badlands wouldn’t be smart,” she said. He turned and watched her with those light, cool eyes, studying her, waiting for her to continue. “The life of a nomad is not easy. The climate is shit, food is scarce, and every day is a fight for our lives.” She gave a cracked laugh. “And you were a pampered bodyguard who lived the high life. If you don’t want to come with me that’s fine—”
“I’m coming with you,” he said.
“...What?” She stared at him, frozen by the soft resolution in his eyes and the faint flutter of hope that flickered in her chest like a candle. Takemura stood from where he had been sitting and squatted down in front of her, folding her tiny hands in his. “I’m coming with you.”
Summary: And I just want to feel you're there / And I don't want to have to share our love / I try, but I get overwhelmed / When you're gone I have no one to tell.
Pairing: Takemura Goro x fem!V
A/N: More ten short drabbles of my favorite pairing. FKA twigs continues to be a source of inspiration and her music gives me life.
01 - Heat
Takemura bent his head, and the heat of his mouth, the softness of his lips, closed over the sensitive cord in the side of Vera’s neck as he moved forward and pressed his body against her back, from shoulder to knee. Oh, God, he was so hot. She had felt cold, but his heat burned her, and he slid beneath her iron-clad defenses with a touch that brought only pleasure. “I will not hurt you,” he murmured, his lips moving over her skin as he slipped his other hand underneath her top.
02 - Laughter
Vera was laughing.
Takemura stared transfixed at the curve of her plump mouth, the flash of white teeth, by now expecting the way his stomach muscles clenched and the bottom fell away, and he went rushing back down into the dark pit of damnable yearning that she’d inadvertently uncovered.
03 - Guilt
Vera was asleep, lying on her side facing away from him, curled in a tight knot on the very edge of the bed. She looked smaller than usual, as if she’d been diminished after her fight with Oda. The neon lights from outside spilled across her cheekbones, tangled in the thick mass of her curly purple hair. She had tossed and turned from the discomfort of her bandages until she had exhausted herself, and even in the dimness of the Sunset Motel, Takemura could make out the blood soaking through her wrappings. Gently, he covered her with his coat, equal amounts of panic, anger, and self-loathing churning in his gut. He should have never let her face him alone.
04 - Fade
“You could leave Arasaka,” she blurted, choking back the humiliating burn of hope that flickered like a candle in her chest. Takemura paused with his back to her, finally looking over his shoulder at her, his brows drawing together in a faint frown of confusion. “Why?” he asked in a sort of remote puzzlement as if he couldn’t understand why she’d said something so ridiculous. “I cannot leave. It is not so simple.” Then he walked out, and Vera sat motionless on her couch. He moved so silently she didn’t hear his footsteps fade away in the distance, but she felt his absence, knew the exact moment he left.
And it fucking hurt.
05 -Track
A chill ran down Vera’s spine, and she whipped her curly head around, looking in all directions. A sense of imminent danger seized her, making her want to put the car in gear and floor it until she was a speck in the distance. She couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary, but the instincts she’d honed in the Badlands were screaming Run! and she trembled from the effort it took to remain where she was.
Lurking in the darkness of the empty streets was Takemura.
06 - Friend
“I have no friends.” The blunt statement rattled Vera, hit her in the chest, and made her ache inside. No friends? A guy like him had to have a choom or two working to clear his name. “You have me,” she said without thinking. Takemura froze in the act of putting the key in the ignition and slowly turned his head to look at her. She couldn’t read the expression in his silver eyes; she only knew that they burned with an unreadable emotion. “And you have me,” he said softly.
07 - Early Bird
It was six in the morning when Vera felt Takemura prop himself up on his elbow, leaning over her and blocking the ceiling. “V, are you awake?” he murmured, flattening his hand on her flat stomach. The heat from his palm burned through her pajama top to her skin; then he slipped his fingertips under the waistband of her shorts, and she felt the heat go all the way through her. Grumbling, she gently batted his hand away and blushed at the look of satisfaction on his face.
“Get up. We have work to do.”
08 - Cut
Takemura drove into an empty parking lot behind an abandoned building, away from the crowds of people, and parked the van in a dark spot to give them as much privacy as possible. Cursing herself for letting that gonk get close enough to cut her, Vera started to tear open the package of gauze, but he took everything from her and said, “Sit still.” He wet one of the gauze pads with a salve and put it over the cut, then took her hand and pressed it there. “Hold that.” She did, pressing firmly to staunch the bleeding that had slowed but not completely stopped.
“I’m not a child, Goro. I’ve been patching myself up since I was six.”
“And a poor job you have done. Now sit still.”
09 - Intertwined
Takemura steadied her, holding her firmly as he withdrew a little and thrust inside, his gaze intent on her face. Vera couldn’t stop her gasping cry at the sweet sensation, the pleasure that was almost torment. Her heart pounded violently against her ribs. She clung to his shoulders with desperate hands, feeling as if she were about to combust from the wicked heat. He whispered soothingly to her, words of gentle reassurance she couldn’t quite grasp but was comforted by.
10 - Drive
The traffic was heavy, the pace slow. The hot sun glared at them from a clear blue. Vera watched Takemura drive, marveling at how physically fascinating she found him behind the wheel. She studied his hands, firm and well-shaped, the way he gripped the steering wheel. His wrists were twice as thick as hers, and small, almost colorless hairs glinted in the sun. Perhaps letting him drive hadn't been such a bad thing after all.
Summary: Every time you look outside your window / Everything is just the same as before / You are turning round and round / You see, it's a sad day for sure.
Pairing: Takemura Goro x V
A/N: Ten short drabbles showing a series of private moments between my nomad!V and Takemura. Also, I’ve been listening to FKA twigs - Sad Day on loop and the lyrics gave me some strong vibes for my OTP. Thank you @dedevilish for inspiring me!
01 - Smile
As Takemura slid behind the wheel, he gave Vera his habitual half-smirk, the one that crinkled the corners of his eyes and just barely curled his lips, the one that made him look years younger and...something else; Vera wasn’t sure just what.
02 - First Impressions
Takemura had the usual soldier’s talent for sizing up people, and he used it now, studying V with silver eyes that gave nothing away. At the same time, he noted every detail about her. If she was distressed in any way by being made to cut her grieving short to meet with him at Tom’s Diner, she didn’t show it. Her expression said that she thought this was all nonsense, but she’d get through it and then get on with her life. ‘A shame,’ he thought, assessing her again, and this time with a man’s eye. He didn’t think much of thieves or street scum, but she was quite...beautiful.
03 - Judgement
He thought he was better than her. He was judging her.
But Takemura Goro didn’t say it; he didn’t have to. Vera read it in his calm, narrow-eyed gaze. “You don’t know me, so don’t presume to think that you do!” she said sharply, more sharply than she had intended. Vera could feel her control frazzling, feel the jagged edge of some pain she refused to let herself identify, and sternly fought her emotions back in line. There would be time enough for that later when she was alone and this hard-faced, corporate asshole wasn’t looking at her with veiled contempt.
04 - Solid
Takemura’s hand was on her arm, a cool, firm hand. Through the haze of pain, Vera felt the calluses on his fingers, smelled the light minty softness of his aftershave, and she had the blurred impression of a solid body standing very close to her, too close, almost as if she were leaning on him. An arm was around her back, and the hand holding her arm gently pushed her down onto a chair, the strength in his grip somehow reassuring. “Sit here,” he ordered quietly. “Put your head down, and take deep breaths. I will get you something cold to drink.”
05 - Lunch
Upon hearing V’s stomach growing, Takemura drove to a tiny, ramshackle place that had once been a ramen hut. There were no tables inside, just the drive-up window through which the owner dispensed grilled cheese sandwiches and crackers. Soon they were on their way again, and he watched from the corner of his eye as she slowly chewed on her sandwich, purple eyes brightening with pleasure.
06 - Rain
“Look at me.”
Vera swallowed and opened her eyes, staring up at Takemura in the rain-washed dimness of her apartment, his face lit by the watery light seeping through the window. His expression was set, his eyes narrow and piercing, his body warm. He gently tilted her head back, his hand firm on her neck. Vera saw the sensuous curve of his mouth, and then he was kissing her, mouth chapped, yet soft. Her eyes drifted shut again. His lips were gentle, shaping hers, and Vera allowed herself to sink into him.
07 - Gray
Vera woke the next morning cuddled in Takemura’s arms, her head on his shoulder, the warmth of his body a source of comfort in the cold, gray morning of Night City. The rain was pouring down, much heavier than the day before. As usual, he woke almost simultaneously, either too restless or too inherently cautious about leaving himself so vulnerable. Knowing him as she did, she assumed it was the latter.
08 - Fear
“Between us, we have enough emotional baggage to fill this entire rotten city. You and I probably need to be in therapy.” Vera gave a bitter chuckle. “And you were Saburo Arasaka’s bodyguard. We have nothing in common except that we both want his son dead. I don’t even know what I want to do after I get this damned chip out of my head, if I should go back to taking gigs or go join up with the Aldecado like I’d always planned. Part of me wants to quit, but how can I? I’m good at being a merc. I’m just so tired and—”
“Afraid,” he said.
“Of dying? You bet.”
“No. Afraid to live.”
09 - Soft
He smiled at her. Vera wished he would stop doing that. When Takemura smiled, she forgot he was corpo to the bone, forgot that ice ran through his veins and that by walking away from her, he’d hurt her more than any man or woman ever did.
10 - Stay
“I thought you wanted to go back to your old life,” she said, shuddering at the thought. “They would have only shackled me again if it hadn’t been for you.” Takemura turned his head on the pillow and looked at her; the warm glow was back in her eyes, the glow that only he was allowed to see. He never wanted to see that light go out. Slowly, he reached out to touch her cheek. “I will stay,” he said softly.
He swerved sharply toward the car beside them, and its panicked driver jerked the steering wheel to the left as he slammed on his brakes. Takemura downshifted into a lower gear and shot into the gap between the pedestrian and the fishtailing car, even as the woman scrambled to get back on the curb.
Brakes were screeching behind them, and Vera twisted in her seat to see what sort of damage they were leaving behind.
The car that had tried to block them from getting into the left lane was turned sideways in the broad street, with other vehicles at various angles around it. Horns were blaring, and angry drivers were already jumping out of their cars, waving their arms and yelling. She didn’t see any bodies on the ground, so evidently ( and thankfully ) all the pedestrians were safe.
“It’ll be safer if I just walk home than ride with you, you gonk!”
Summary: I’m doing things that I don’t do / So comfortable when I’m with you / Kinda took me by surprise / I love it and I don’t know why / You shot it and you got it / And I don’t wanna fight it / So hold me while we’re taking this ride
Pairing: Takemura Goro x femNomad!V
A/N: I was bored and wanted to write some more Goro x V sentences. The lyrics and title are from Kelela - All The Way Down. Enjoy!
01 - Aftermath
Silence stretched between them, taut and angry. After a moment, Takemura drew a slow, controlled breath and let it out the same way. “Will you listen to me now?” he finally asked. “Sit. We have much to discuss and much to do.”
02 - Morals
Vera was so angry she could barely contain herself, but none of what had happened was Goro Takemura’s fault, so it wouldn’t have been fair for her to take it out on him. She was angry at finding herself in the position of having to break her promise to never work alongside a corporate bootlicker, who was only just using her, to rely on him when she knew nothing about the time bomb in her head. She was angry at having to break the set of morals that so far she’d spent her adult life upholding, but she didn’t see any way around it.
There was no way around it.
03 - Notice
Goro Takemura was beginning to notice the tiny nomad.
It was a revelation. He’d forgotten how it was to be so intensely focused on a woman. The shape of her hand as she shut the car door, the way she absently pushed a strand of curly purple hair away from her haunting violet eyes, the quick, assessing glance she threw at him—he noticed all of that, with a clarity that engraved those little things in his memory.
04 - Complications
Vera watched as he bent down, propping his left hand on the table and cupping the back of her head in his right, and closed his mouth over hers. Oh, she thought in dim surprise. Then: Oh. Goro was slow, very slow, and thorough—very thorough. His warm tongue curled into her mouth like an old lover, sure of his welcome. She put her hand over his on the table, and he turned his palm up, capturing hers, lacing their fingers together. Well, this complicates everything.
05 - Scar
Goro watched as Vera gently cupped his hand in both of hers and cradled it to her chest, just over the scar that ran from beneath her collarbone all the way down to the end of her rib cage. An hour ago, he had kissed that scar with all the tenderness he could muster, and she knew they had both been thinking about the scar Oda had graced her with and how close she had come to death a second time.
06 - Stop
“V, stop this.”
“Don’t tell me to stop!” Vera whirled to face him. To her horror, her voice clogged, and tears welled in her eyes. “I won’t stop, Takemura,” she said fiercely. “I’m never going to stop, and I’m never going to stop fighting, so you might as well stop trying because I will never be the pawn you want me to be!”
07 - Intimacy
The prospect of taking off her socks in Goro’s presence, even when he was on the other side of the room looking out the window, seemed almost too daring and intimate. Intimate. There was that word again. All day—well, actually since the first day—it seemed as if the ex-bodyguard had wrapped her in a blanket of intimacy without actually doing anything sexual.
08 - Embrace
Typing in the code to her apartment, Vera waited for the door to slide open and froze, standing stiff in the doorway. “Don’t scream.” Goro loomed in front of her, his expression enigmatic. She swallowed the sound just in time as he pulled her against him and closed the door, locking it firmly in place. “I thought you had been captured,” he murmured, eyes softening. “I’m sorry,” Vera said, gulping, dropping her sword on the floor, and throwing her arms around his neck. “I didn’t mean to worry you.”
09 - Hesitate
Goro had hesitated before when Vera kissed him, but he didn’t hesitate this time. His arms tightened around her, and he swung her around, half-carrying her and half-pushing her past the bathroom and into the main part of the room—
—where the bed was.
10 - Sword
“I need a new sword.”
The comment came out of nowhere. Goro’s eyes popped open. The gray cloudy light of dawn pushed at the window, but he’d been awake for a while now, content to hold the purple-haired nomad, in no hurry to get up. In the daylight, he could see her staring up at the ceiling; her plump lips pooched out as she considered whatever she was considering, which in light of her comment didn’t seem to be anything harmless. An unfamiliar sensation rose in his chest, his throat, and suddenly he was laughing, truly laughing. Goro couldn’t remember the last time that had happened.
"Skye, you need to be brave when they come for me. I need you to protect yourself and one day you'll see I was saving you and your father." The voice of my mother filled my dreams. Silent tears fell down my cheeks. "I love you, my perfect girl," my mother told me. Her voice was gone and I was back to sleeping again, quietly and silently. It was just a month until my 14th birthday. I didn't know that would be the last time I would ever hear her words.
