What's your favorite Solomon Kane story/comic/media?
ooh, my favorite story is probably the blue flame of vengeance! it’s a great little adventure featuring a distressed damsel and dreadful pirates, and kind of atypical because it lacks a lot of the weird fiction genre hallmarks that robert e. howard is known for - but that’s actually part of why i love it. with the supernatural flourishes stripped away, solomon kane as a character (and as. A Character.) really gets to shine.
(i always feel like he’s a little at war with the more “exotic” weird fiction-type settings anyway. that man is a 16th/17th century puritan, he should be battling sorcerous priests in the anglo-spanish wars and protecting helpless young women in the new world from vvitches. leave the vampire queens in darkest africa for allan quatermain!)
i also really love solomon kane’s homecoming - if this was the only thing that howard ever wrote about him it would still be unbelievably iconic by implication alone.
and i’m not quite as well-versed in the comics (yet) but these covers particularly do live in my head rent-free. my ENTIRE man.
